When you think about Mayon Volcano, Bicol, and Albay there is no way you cannot associate it with Cagsawa Ruins. This sends me back when I was a kid, It never fails to amaze me thinking about how that belfry signifies Bicol, Mayon and Albay. Its a good thing they we're able to maintain it through all those times, this is still a place to go.
There are a lot of stalls where you can buy souvenirs, food and try the Sili Ice Cream, and new attaction like the ATV adventure.
It's a well recommended place.

Parking available for a fee. Alot of ATV for rent coming into the park- we didn’t try this experience.
Ruins of the bell tower plus the majestic Mt Mayon in the backdrop. Must see!
Souvenir shops to get T-shirts, pumice stone, keychains… also don’t forget to try colonial ice cream (level 1) sili flavor and pili nut flavor. 👍🏼

Nice park, free access, a perfect spot to take a picture with the remainings of the church, but also with the volcano that provoked the disaster. Plenty of little shops at the entrance, with a lot to offer at low prices. Do not miss the crispy pilli and the chili ice cream.

This is a historical site commemorating the Mayon eruption of 1814. It is sad to see that over the last decade some of the commemorative plaques explaining historical details have been removed and the amount of stalls, selling all kinds of things has increased. The educational purpose of this site has diminished. Very disappointing.

I came here on a city tour and thought it was pretty cool. Some old church. With the Mayon Volcano in the background it's a good photo spot.

This Franciscan, Baroque style church was built in 1587 but destroyed by Dutch pirates in 1636. Rebuilt in 1724 and destroyed again in including the town of Cagsaua during the Mayon volcano in 1814. On a clear day you will see the majestic Mt. Mayon volcano from here. The ruins are quite confusing as you would find it a challenge in orienting where the entrance and altar use to be. Lots of foliage on the ruins during my visit. Hopefully it gets cleared to protect the ruins. The soil feels like compact beach sand but is actually ashfall. Climbing the bellfry is not allowed, but access to the church ruins is.
This place gets busy leading up to mid morning so it is advise to go early. From the main road, it is walkable, trikes are available to and fro this area, nonetheless, those with vehicles are guaranteed a parking space in the area. This is a sight to see once in your life. #RP

Putting side all the interesting story behind it, this place still offers tourists one of the best spots to view the majestic Mayon Volcano. Compared to many years ago, this place is much more touristy now, with lots of souvenir shops, eateries, etc. Parking and entrance to the ruins are no longer free. At any rate, the best time to visit this spot and to have a nice and complete view of the volcano is early in the morning before 9:00 AM. Coming early also prevents exposing one's self to the scorching heat of the sun.

A visit to Albay is not complete without dropping by the iconic Cagsawa Ruins with the majestic Mayon Volcano in the horizon. The park charges an entrance fee of P35 per person, and visitors will be greeted by stalls selling souvenir items as well as official photographers hired by the local government. This place was where we also tasted sili ice cream for the first time. At P50 per cup, it is guaranteed to put your mouth on fire. If visiting the park during the summer months, bringing bottled water and an umbrella is highly recommended.

Cagsawa Ruins is a great place to visit. The view of Mayon Volcano is beautiful. It is amazing to see the power of the volcano, when you see the destruction it dealt out. The buildings in Cagsawa had extremely thick stone walls, but you can also see 8 foot wide boulders that rained down on the town and destroyed it. A very beautiful but sobering spot to visit.
There are slo some good places to eat there, and I especially recommend getting some of the local Pili nuts, as they are unique and delicious!

I always go back to see the Cagsawa Ruins whenever i go back to see my family. Tho i already seen it since i was a kid.. i still love to go back and stay there for couple of hours.. there are some cafeterias and snack places inside the gate..

Dear Cagsawa Ruins Traveller,
We Visited the Cagsawa Church
Ruins Early Morning to Avoid Crowds and to be Cooler .
Our Resort Hotel arranged a Car / Driver for the Day.
We then Drove up Mayon Volcano into the Clouds to Cool.
Very Enjoyable and Interesting Day .
The CHURCH Was Buried by Mayon Volcano Eruption .

Hi all, so I want to do atv ride with my 5 yo daughter near in cagsawa ruins, which is better to do, hire directly from the place since I’ve read a lot of private owned atv’s are available anytime OR prebook to agency ahead?. Cheaper and safer options?.
