Highly recommend! Excellent price, accommodations, information, scenery, equipment and hotel transport. Was picked up from hotel (RIU Bambu) and shuttled 10/15 minutes via open air truck to the dune buggy base, passing through a small section of town and a couple dirt roads. Once you arrive you are greeted by your tour guide. This time happened to be my new main man Martin, a multilingual DR-loving Austrian transplant and all-round nice guy. Martin instructed my wife and I about the safety regulations and what the tour entails. After you get fitted for a helmet and suit up. By suit up I mean bring sunglasses and a bandana or something to keep dust out of your mouth. If no bandana, one can purchase there for $5 USD. Also, goggles available to use at no exra cost if your sunglasses aren't tight to your face. And we're off... Martin and a mechanic ride in 1st buggy. You and up to 4 others ride in your own buggy following them. In total the trip is 20 km. You drive for 4ish km and reach a non-commercial typical rural storefront/home run by the sweetheart Francesca. Martin showed us around the small store, the house attached, the garden behind and the rest of the property. All the while Francesca brews you up a cup of DR coffee. I hate coffee but I loved this! Tasted of cinnamon and spices. We sat and had a cup of this liquid gold and talked and asked questions. Very serene. About 15 mins or so spent there. After that you get back in the buggy and head on for another 6ish km to the entrance to their own private cave. At the entrance to the cave are bathrooms with running water powered by solar panels. This is where we were given a cold bottle of water while Martin told us a story of the local lore. After the tale you walk down into the cave looking at the natural beauty of the stelactites and stelagmites while Martin pointed out formations that resemble the characters from the story. As you circle through the cave near the end they have recreated Fred & Wilma Flintstone's house, car, etc. It's semi-corny but great for photo ops and kids would love it. I'm 33 years old and loved it. After the cave you get back into the buggy and drive 10km straight back to the buggy base, passing through the rolling country side. All the while on your adventure your guide will take photos of you driving, at the storefront, in the cave, at the Flintstone house, etc. When you get back the photos of you are compiled onto a flashdrive along with professional photographs and local music. This compellation can be purchased for $30 USD. Flashdrives are checked to make sure the upload completed correctly for piece of mind. At buggy base you are offered the use of a shower to hose off any mud or dust if desired. Also t-shirts, soda, snacks, beer, photo flashdrives, cigarettes, bandanas, etc. are available to purchase with a no pressure to buy atmosphere. Also for sale are Mamajuana shots. A must try while in the DR. A potent root, honey and wine based liquor... must have... $2 a shot. All in all, for the money, please do this buggy tour. Very hands on and informative. Could not be happier with the tour, especially if you are budget minded... even if you're not. We chose this because it's authentic. Nowhere on this adventure are you swarmed by pushy vendors trying to sell you unwanted souvenirs and trinkets like so many places in the DR. Bring eyewear, bandana, sunscreen and some cash for your guide and bus driver... they deserve it. It's a very touristy idea done in a non-touristy, friendly but professional manner. We'll be back if ever in Punta Cana. A++
