Anjaneya Hills is the birthplace of Hanuman Ji, the view one gets to see from here, especially during sunset is mind-blowing. Very calm, surreal, hands down my favorite place in Hampi.
All around the horizon are rugged rocky hills made of boulders giving the area its unique charm. The Tungabhadra River cutting in between gives way to patches of paddy fields and coconut plantations.
The climb to the top where the temple is located takes 575 steps, these are well mentioned with resting points every 50-100 steps. The climb-up is filled with aggressive monkeys so keep watch on your loose items.

The hill is famous as the birth place of Lord Hanuman; takes a total of 575 steps to the top. The steps are uneven, some being quite high, at the base it is sheltered and then it slowly tapers between huge boulders that wound around the hill to reach the top, so it's not for the faint-hearted, but the views from the top are breath-taking. This hill has very nice views of Tungbhadra river as well as Hampi. You get Airtel mobile signals at the top.
Wear comfortable shoes. Carry water. Be careful of your belongings and especially food because there are quite a lot of monkeys on the hill.
You can wear shoes all the way till the top, it's only when you reach the actual temple at the top that you have to take off your shoes. A lot of people climb the whole thing bare-footed though.
Also known as Anjanadri Temple.
Hanuman temple has a 25 kg rock from ram Setu, which is placed in a fish tank inside the temple, and you can see it floating in the water.
Carry water while going uphill, there is a drinking water fountain at the top where you can refill your water bottle.
The temple at the top is nothing impressive, so go for the views, if at all you do.

You have to climb up many steps for reaching this monkey temple. People believe it is the birthplace of Hanuman jee. But, there are lots of monkeys at this temple. The view from the top of this hill temple is nice. One has to cross the river Tungbhadara if coming from the Hampi group of monuments/Virupaksha temple side.

Westerns call this Monkey Temple but it's real name is Anjaneri Temple, its considered birthplace of Lord Hanuman (Anjani is Hanuman's mother and hence the name). It's a sacred place for Hindus.
The climb is 560 steps that can be covered in 15-20 mins and one should go here just before sunset and linger long after till the guards ask you to leave. trust me the sunset you will experience from here will be unmatched, it's rediscovering !

It is one of the must visit places in Hampi. The views from the top are mesmerizing. The climb can be difficult as you have to climb 575 steps to reach the top but there are proper steps. There is a Lord Hanuman Temple at the top of the hills. This place is supposed to be the birth place of Lord Hanuman. You can also visit the place to catch a good sunrise or sunset.

We had to climb multiple stairs to reach this place situated on the mountain top. This place offers a 360 degree view of Hampi and we spent a good amount of time here to admire it's beauty. Recommended to visit if you can manage to climb those 500 + steps.

This hiltop temple is a great place to view sunset! From the top one can paise the beauty of mother earth, hampi and Tunga Badra river. We can just remember how small being we are in front of nature.
Just climb up the 575 steps from the bottom of hill to reach to the top and enjoy the scene!

Yes you might find few monkeys... But they wouldn't bother you until you try to tease them... Ensure you don't carry food which is visible they might attack to take away food items..
How to reach this temple from Hosapet?

You can take a bus or a rickshaw. When you reach the river take the boat to the other side and then rent a scooter or a bicycle. Have a good time!
I am from Hyderabad. I can reach upto hosapet. From there how can I get transport to the temple?

There are 3 ways to reach the temple -
1. You can hire an auto directly from Hospet to Monkey temple and it would cost nearly 600-800 INR.
2. Second, you can take rickshaw until Hampi main bazaar from hospet (should cost 200 INR) and then a boat ride to other side of the river (Rs 10). From there again you have to take another auto which shall cost 200-300 INR.
3. You can even board the ST buses and they'll drop you to main Hampi Bazaar bus stand and then take a boat ride to other side and either take auto or hire a bike to reach to the temple.
Routes are pretty straight forward and even locals are quite helpful. Hope this helps. :)

Even at a 25 years of age, I was extremely exhausted. However, I saw quite a number of people who were aged above 50 in the temple above the hill. But, I suppose they are the local residents and travel that stairs on a regular basis. So, not recommended.
