We had very unpleasant experience in Pushkar with the name of religion from the Pandits. It was well organized scam. Our driver suggested us to take a tour guide. As soon as we reached, the guide was waiting for us. He was restaurant owner. He took us to the Sarovar and handed us to another Pandit. During our walk to Sarovar guide provided us information about the area and suggested to perform six to eight minutes Puja with donation of your wish.
Later Pandits suggested us to perform Puja in small groups. During Puja, Pandit started asking to pay money for one month/11 days /7days/ 5days/ 3 days food.Bhog. When my wife started asking questions, he easily distracted her with emotional ancestral rituals and ask her to pray. Mean time asked to go forward and pay the money for Bhog.
Their marketing was so forceful and professional that somehow I ended us paying huge amount. He learned that we came from America and then it was more greediness.
Be careful with these robbers. As a practicing Hindu it affected my kids a lot and difficult to get their trust back. Very unpleasant experience with the name of GOD and this needs to stop.

The visit here was recommended by our guide in Jaipur and is just off the road between Jaipur and Agra. It’s apparently a very holy place for Hindus, so, as non-believers, we viewed it through very different eyes. When we arrived, we were “handed over” to a guide, to whom our driver had given a payment, who took us through streets of numerous souvenir stalls to some terraces (for sitting) overlooking a relatively small and foul-smelling man-made lake. We sat down at the guide’s behest and he started explaining it was a place to go to think of people close to you and make wishes. It was suggested we do so and, at this point we decided it wasn’t of interest to us and decided to leave. It was then that the main agenda became very clear. On the way down, we had passed numerous, very large concrete collection trunks in the middle of the streets, but, on our return, before reaching them, it was suggested we went to an “accounts office” to make a (presumably large) donation. Our refusal didn’t go down well. We were then accosted all the way back to the car by people demanding payments, on one occasion, aggressively. When we arrived back to the car, we gave the “guide” what we considered to be a large tip, but, as we were about to leave the car park, he accosted our driver and we were effectively forced to give him a much larger amount, out of all proportion to the half hour we spent with him. We wonder how much was donated to the “good cause” – as one had to question with all the “donations”. If you’re not a faithful Hindu, we strongly recommend giving this place a miss, it was the only place we visited in our month touring Inda that we regret visiting.

The lake and temple was nice. But bitter experience with the priests who are insisting to pay donation as part of rituals. Nice view of the lake surrounded by a lots of ghats.

Lake was good but as usual experience was priest and guided tour was not good. One is ready to donate but at least ask their capacity and willingness. People are robbing here in the name of ancestors. They will tell you that whole pooja is free. they dont charge anything. At the end priest forced us to pay 2100 for laddus and 500 as his fee.

After long time I took a break from my work and decided to visit Pushkar - Lord Brahma's only temple available on the earth for creator of Universe. Also Shradh Paksh - special month for ancestors, we decided to pray for them we reached Pushkar after 10 hours my longest self drive journey. We took accommodation at prebook Ananta Spa and resort. Next day we started journey with Brahma Lake or Pushkar Lake where we did prayers for our ancestors, take Holly deep at lake. Then moved to visit temple Lord Brahma where one can pray in front of Lord Brahma and Devi Gayatri.

Wenn man Pushkar besucht dann sollte man auch gleich eine Zermonie mitmachen. Sehr schön und aufschlussreich! Auch ein prima Fotomotiv!

Sadly we had a similar experience to many of the other travellers who have reviewed this lake also.
We were taken here by a guide to look at the lake, and before seeing it we were told we were welcome to make a donation if we wished but it was not mandatory.
We were given a tray of flowers and ushered to the steps to meet with the holy priest to receive a blessing and learn more about the lake and it’s spiritual significance. At the tail end of the blessing the priest asked my husband to verbally say how much he would donate as a commitment to the blessing.
We awkwardly looked at each other as we already give to charity and it’s always something we like to discuss and know who we are handing our money over to - especially in India where there are an incredible amount of scams. I said to the priest we needed to discuss it in private however he insisted my husband say an amount out loud before we proceed. He then began listing off how much people generally give - 5000 rupee, 10,000 rupee.
He kept demanding and my husband awkwardly chuckled and mutter something - enough for his to continue with the blessing. Afterwards he took up to the donation booth - at that point we both felt very uncomfortable so I confidently told him that we already give to many charities and unfortunately we wouldn’t be contributing today. I also kindly said I hope this does not offend you, but heck did his attitude change!
He kept insisting and telling us that our giving was not to the people of pushkar and that they needed our money. At this point I was done. Not to mention there are amounts on a board which I assume is what you have to give - 1,100 , 2,100 ect. How terrible is that?
I told my husband how uncomfortable I felt, actually threatened at the point and we quickly left with the priest aggressively yelling something at our driver.
This completely ruined our experience.
I’m not sure if the charity is legit, but to be honest there are many wonderful charities out there to contribute to knowing that your money is going directly to the people.
I don’t think emotional blackmail is the right approach when it comes to charity.
Please be wary, and if it doesn’t feel right back yourself and WALK AWAY! They won’t do anything to you but try and make you feel uncomfortable enough to give, this is not okay!
* I have this experience two stars because the lake was quite pretty!

Hii Everyone, we are six people get off at Ajmer station by 3 am in morning and have to catch train by 08:30 PM from Ajmer itself on same day.
We are planning for Srinathdwara temple darshan and pushkar darshan on same day.
Is it possible?
If yes then please suggest where to go first, and by which mode i.e taxi or bus.
If it is taxi then what would be approximate cost??

Since you are getting off the train at Ajmer, it is obviously good to invest the day visiting Pushkar and Ajmer both.
It will consume the entire day.
Sri Nathdwara is close to Udaipur and in case you intend visit there you should go straight to Udaipur and not Ajmer.
You simply cannot cover these places in just one day.

hot air balloon we could not see in pushkar. wrt desert stay, there is no desert in pushkar ( as we see in movies ). if you want to experience real desert, then Thar is the place. for this you need to travel to Jaislmer. it is about 600km from Pushkar/Jaipur
What is best city to visit in one day????
Accept udaipur......
And second question....what is best city between pushkar and jodhpur to visit in one day?????

Avoid Pushkar. Except for its religious value there is noting much there. Try Chittorgadh it is much better. The fort is also great and well maintained.
Vorrei sapere perché queste città sono così sporchi

The cities have developed rapidly and the city cleanliness systems are being developed. Villages are very clean because there is hardly any waste. Everything is recycled and reused. Intensive awareness drives are required.

WARNING: This place is not safe and secure. Camel ride in Pushkar is all very expensive. we took pics in front of camel, later cart guy threaten us to delete pics from camera and asked us to pay 300 RS for per photograph of camel. also said he will kill us in that isolated place if i didnt follow his command. Never faced such situation in my life.
There is no spirituality in the place. all fakes and hiked up.. this place is heaven for only people who are into narcotic drugs.
People are very cunning, Not at all place to visit for travelers. Big shame on Rajasthan tourism industry

ajmer is famous for dargah sharif and pushkar.
one can visit round the year
pushkar is just 20kms from ajmer and easily accesable by govt buses and autorickshaws and private taxis.. very economical place for staying and eating.
ajmer dargah sharif mosque darshan is must visit
bramha temple in pushkar is a must visit and a holy bath in sarovar.
can be done in a one day visit
one can enjoy camel ride at pushkar..but i recommend not to do a camel ride...because the persons vendors charge very high there and are very rude and they treat the tourist like nothing if one wants to visit the sand by walking.. they not allow to enter the sand area ..no restrictions are by goverment to enter.. but these persons are goondas..and behave like they had purchased the land ...if one tries to negotiate a camel ride or enter the sand by walking they beat the tourist and have a bad treatment give bad words..they dont see if a family is with you or females ladies are with you. this should be stopped and informed to rajhastan govt and police..strict actions should be taken so that this goondagiri can be stopped here by the govt and police.
