Lovely friendly member of staff running the Café/ shop. Helped us organise a taxi. Many thanks, we were very grateful for the help. Nice little shop with good selection of souvenirs of the wall walk.

Great place to enjoy relatively easy access to the Walltown crags, with large car park and useful information centre. The cafe is really just a snack shop, but has a good range and was appreciated.
The hadrian's path goes right through this site, so is a good meeting up point. Only shame is the Northumbria Parks car parking scheme is quite expensive for short stops.

Brilliant place to walk our three dogs. A great start point with plenty of room to park our motor home. Toilets, cafe and shop at the start/finish and easy walk to the Roman Army museum.
We had a wonderful couple of hours walking along part of the Wall.

We came to park here to walk along a stretch of the wall (not visible!) to Thirwall Castle, about 30 minutes' walk away.
While the park itself is free to enter, parking was £2 for an hour, and £1 extra for each hour on top.
The walk was pleasing over green fields and such, but not great for those with mobility issues.
The park itself is worth exploring. Good flat areas to walk around, and a nice pond (flooded quarry) as well. There is a fairly intact section of the wall just along a path - but it's a decent climb up to get there. Hills can be tricky!

We visited the Walltown Country Park on a Saturday in July whilst taking an extended weekend break in Carlisle. We used public transport to reach our destination and this took the form of train to Haltwistle station and then a bus (185 service bus or the excellent AD122 ‘round robin’ service), from the station to the park (Via the Roman Army museum a short distance away). Pay & display parking is also available here.
Our primary reason for coming to the park was to view a section of Hadrian’s Wall a good section of which may be found nearby (about a 20 minute walk away), but note that it requires the visitor to walk up to the hills to reach it.
The country Park is located on the site of a former stone quarry and has been returned to nature over the previous 45 years. There are some nice walks to undertake here and a large body of water to view though the surface of the water was covered in leaves on the day of our visit. Despite its remote position, the park was still reasonably busy with the majority of visitors being families with young children, dog walkers or recreational walkers accessing the Pennine Way
The park has refreshment facility here serving hot & cold drinks and snack and has both inside and outside (picnic benches) seating. Toilet facilities were also available here.

The old quarry at Walltown Quarry Country Park is now a lake. There are a couple of picnic tables here but this quarry lake is not as scenic as Cawfield Quarry, which we passed by shortly afterwards as we continued walking to the East coast. This day's hike offered us some of the most scenic stretches of the wall.
The Visitor Centre at Walltown is open 10am to 5pm daily, the helpful staff provide information and light refreshments. There are lots of benches around the site and the paths are very good, with options of several nice walks. The toilets are well kept and clean.
Hadrian's Wall is very picturesque here, stretching up the hills before you into the distance and this makes for some great photos. There are good stretches of wall to see before and after Turret 45a at Walltown Craggs.

plenty of parking with toilets & a small shop pleasant footpaths around the park with the option for a climb up to Hadrians wall

Decided to visit here so my wife could see some of Hadrians wall. Great for a walk with the dog and only 15min walk to Hadrians wall. Toilets onsite. Kiosk selling coffees , biscuits , cold drinks & ice creams. Parking not expensive £1 an hour. Picnic tables available.

Easy walk to Hadrians Wall with children. Lots of adventure. Amazing section of wall. Friendly a nb d very helpful staff in visitors centre.

This ais an amazing place to see hadrians wall the park is well kept with plenty do do for a family. There are lots of picnic benches around the site and lots of good walks. The toilets are well kept and clean we had a lovely time.
