Loved this place! Visited today and absolutely loved the pottery and the beautiful craftmanship of the items. I could quite easily have purchased more but just bought one small, beautiful item as a souvenir. Met Fergus and he was lovely and chatty. Also welcomed my dog which is always appreciated.
The drive up is stunning too with a beautiful loch and mountain views. The road itself is very narrow and very uneven and I scraped the bottom of my car a few times! Just drive with caution, it’s well worth the effort.

We met Fergus yesterday, such a nice man, amazing seeing his workshop and all the items ready to be fired. He had some beautiful items in his shop and we bought a vase and jug to bring back home with us. Definitely worth a short drive to say hi to Fergus, only 5 mins down a typically windy road.

We came across Fergus on a trip to check out Glencanisp Lodge. We had a delightful chat with him and admired his work - buying a delightful pestle and mortar. Well worth a visit!

So much more than great craftsmanship in a beautiful location! Fergus epitomises what it means to be a maker: hand, heart and mind. A way of life and being where creativity is not just about production and profit but about community, attention to detail that comes from life long learning, where great skills are made to seem effortless.
We were lucky to go on a day when when the latest batch of salted pottery was being unloaded from his wood fired kiln. A key part in a six week cycle of making, turning, glazing, collecting the wood and stoking the kiln that takes about a week to process. Highlight of our stay near Lochinver for me.

Next time you are in the Lochinver area you must visit Glencanisp Lodge Pottery Studio Fregus Stewart produces the most wonderful salt glazed items. The pieces produced demonstrate the highest standards in original design and top quality craftsmanship.
This is really the ultimate in highly useable art pottery, definitely a future collectors item. We always leave this studio uplifted.

Up a beautiful, scenic, single track road in Lochinver past a beautiful loch you will eventually reach Glencanisp Lodge right at the end of the road. In this converted lodge you will find a master potter, Fergus Stewart, at work in his studio making beautiful ceramics - mugs, vases, plates, tea pots etc.
Fergus is an artist and artisan making beautiful objects in this very remote location. He is well worth a visit but phone ahead first to check he is there.
