My seven year old had a great time here. It’s small, but packed with great artifacts and learning opportunities about dinosaurs, sharks, native Americans, and rocks and minerals.

its sad in town this is a sad place not enough interest and location awful boring not much to say they are trying but sometimes u just gotta let it go like the cowboy movies

My daughter, 4 grandchildren (ages 7-12), and I spent several pleasant hours at the Museum on a hot day. There were so many interesting exhibits about different animals, dinosaurs, fossils, etc. Give yourself plenty of time to see this gem in downtown Bakersfield.

We absolutely enjoyed our visit to the Buena Vista Museum. Because the museum is so small, you can get up close and intimate with the exhibits, which makes the experience so much the better. Museums like this definitely deserve our support—where else can you learn so much about the natural history of Bakersfield?

In three stories that are easy to navigate Kern County's epochs are represented through displays of animal and mineral specimens. Archaeological and anthropological collections are presented in dioramas and in interactive exhibits.... don't forget about the dinosaurs on the top floor!!!

We love this place. I have two teens and this place is full of wonders. We see something new every time. Really reasonable too. If you get the Calm membership, this place is free.

I visited this museum with my children and was pleasantly surprised with the variety of animals on display. We couldn’t touch them but seeing their true size and large teeth and big eyes was impressive. Loved the zebra, bear, lion.... Upstairs there were many rocks, large and small also on display. My daughter fell in love with the large geodes. You can easily spend about an hour or two here.

This museum is truely a hidden gem, located downtown off chester ave. Once inside youll be amazed by howmuch is actually inside. Each segment is presented with impressive quality and information. So much more to the natural history of our area than most people realize. I would highly recomend visiting. Its a great place to take guests from out of the area. There are also a lot of great restraunts within walking distance to visit before or after.

I went as part of a class trip with 3rd graders. The docent had great knowledge of the artifacts and history. There is a lot to look at and do for all ages. It is not all easily accessible without docents but doing it on your own will give you more time to spend at each place. Yokuts display is neat to see but needs some work to refurbish signs and displays. People who work there are knowledgeable and dedicated. Top floor will be hot in summer but great stuff up there.

My daughter and I went there on a weekday and learn do much about the history of Kern County. The Yokut Indians were a wonderful exhibit. There were many animal taxidermist. Many hands on displays for the kids. A wonderful way to spend two hours of a day.
