So much better than Cleland National Park. It’s cheaper, more affordable, a lot better service and overall a magnificent place.
Go early so you do the Koala holding which is worth the $10
Feeding the kangaroos was so good too.

It’s quite an adventure getting here from Adelaide CBD on the bus but changing at the Tea Tree Plaza you get amazing scenic views as you near the wildlife park. We got here to find it was too hot to hold the koalas but you could stand next to them. This is where the park missed a trick cos I’m sure most people would have paid something for this opportunity judging by the queue length. Make sure you buy some animal feed and don’t feed it to the 1st kangaroos you see like we did cos they are plenty of animals happy to eat your food. Appreciate you get a park map but would have welcomed more signs guiding you. Overall thought it was very reasonably priced for 3-4 hours enjoying the animals

We travelled to Gorge Wildlife Park from our home in the south of Adelaide. Despite it being over an hour drive it was well worth the journey! Our family of 5 (12 year old twins and a 10 year old) had a wonderful day out.
The park had lots to explore and lots of interesting exhibits. Despite it being a summers day, the large established trees gave lots of shade and kept us quite cool.
We took advantage of the free bbq facilities in the park and enjoyed having our lunch inside the park.
An absolute highlight was the koala holding, where my children got to meet the sweet little koala Jimmy and have a hold.
A beautiful day out for a family and I highly recommend!

Had a great time visiting this wildlife park situated in a lovely setting with many native animals, I had pre booked a Koala holding session online which turned out to be a great experience, also able to walk amongst the kangaroos and feed them, which was a lot of fun,
Highly recommend this place if visiting the Adelaide area

A wildlife park sits on 14 acres of land with quite a collection of wildlife animals. From monkeys, koala, tortoises, Wallabies, Dingoes, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Echidnas, and more. Can consider a stop by if you are in the area.

I booked a fifteen minute private session with a Koala which was Amazing! So informative and well organised, with care and consideration for the Koala paramount. The park is lovely as are the staff. I am stopping in Adelaide for a while and will definitely be back. Best selfie ever with George. ❤️

We were advised to go to this location as you are up close and personal with the animals by our hotel receptionist. It is a bit of a trek from the Adelaide and had to go by taxi.
The experience was very positive and for a very small cost you could hold a koala, so for us from the UK, this would be a highlight for my wife and me. as we have never seen a koala in real life, I am in my 60’s and you are never too old for this!
The holding session I was a bit concerned how this was going to be done and not stress the poor koala.
The young lady was was very particular how you held and treated the koala, which as she said, if it’s eating it’s happy, but any signs of stress, the koala would immediately be put back. A beautiful animal well cared for.
It takes a year to train them and they had taken in koalas from the big fire.
These are much bigger animals than I imagined, and made it a very special day.
You could also walk among and feed the kangaroos, lazing around the enclosure.
We also saw, many indigenous animals we had never seen before, including Wombats.
The shop was VERY reasonable priced and we purchased several toys for the grandchildren back home.
We spoke to the owner and it has been family run since 1965.
Then we find our pick up taxi is stuck miles away, so need to rebook. No answer on the phone, so the lady called a taxi for us. 50 mins past and that didn’t turn up, but they helped get us back to a main bus stop.
Try that at the big zoos!
Places like this need our support, or they will be no places to interact and understand wild animals, and these places are more than looking at it as “caged” animals, it helps with they future and understanding. Many species will disappear over the next decade, we (humanity) has to stop this and that won’t be easy.

I used to come here a lot with my family as a kid and really loved it. I was excited to visit again the other day as an adult but left feeling really off about the experience. :/
The free roaming peacocks, water birds and wallabies are lovely. I adore the parrots who by choice hang out amongst the trees and some of the open areas. But for so many other animals the cages are small, and so many of them seem bored and sad; I still can’t shake the heartache of seeing a little lone corella caged in the petting zoo area saying “hello” and “knock knock” repetitively (though evidently not repetitively enough for the awful child banging its cage and yelling “knock knock” back at it, whose mother allowed this to happen for far too long, ugh). Witnessing this felt especially cruel given the family of corellas I saw living happy and free in a tree only minutes before.
Therefore, I do agree with some other reviewers that Gorge feels more like a zoo than a wildlife park. I note on some older reviews circa 2016 that Gorge did respond saying they were updating enclosures but there were still a heap now in 2022 that from memory haven’t changed or expanded much; from memory, the tamarins’ cages are the same as they were back in the early 2000s. The staff I interacted with were nice, and I don’t doubt for a moment that they care about the animals. I just really hope that if the park can’t provide bigger, more adept and enriching facilities for the animals very soon - particularly the exotic ones - that they admit it’s time to let them go somewhere that can.

Hi,
We are travelling to Adelaide this week and are on a tight schedule! How long is the general wait time for the koala cuddle experience?I understand when it is very hot there is only one session per day, is this something you update online in a morning so we would know in advance if there is only one session that day?
Many Thanks
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,
When the forecasted temperature for Adelaide is 34 degrees or above we only hold the 11.30 am koala holding session. It really depends on how busy the day is as to how long the wait times will be. I would suggest lining up maybe 15 minutes before the holding time and hopefully you would then be near the front of the queue.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards
Sandra
will koala cuddling be available on Jan 16 2018?

Una domanda qualcuno conosce la differenza tra questo parco e il Cleland wildlife park?qual è il migliore?
One question anyone knows the difference between this park and the Cleland wildlife park - what is the best?
Sandra M
أديليد, أستراليا
Hi,
There are a number of differences between us and Cleland Wildlife Park. Cleland Wildlife Park purely has native animals and birds whereas we have native and exotic animals and birds. Cleland is very large and we are more compact and you don't have to walk long distances to see all the animals.
We offer free koala holding sessions every day at 11.30 am, 1.30 and 3.30 pm unless the temperature for Adelaide is 34 degrees or above then we only hold the 11.30 am session.
I think both our parks are good but quite different to each other. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind Regards
Sandra

I am traveling by cruise to Adelaide and arriving Jan. 24th - we will be there from 11 a.m. to 7pm -Very disappointed-- It seems of the trips/tours I am interested in are not available on the 24th of January - Cleland Park, Waterfall Gully & Mt. Loft - I am not interested in wineries or wine tasting. Is Gorge Wildlife Park available on the 24th and what are the fares for 2 adults. How close in proximity to where the cruise ship come into port. What transportation is necessary to get to Gorge Wildlife Park.
Thanks for your assistance.
