‪I used to come here a lot with my family as a kid and really loved it. I was excited to visit again the other day as an adult but left feeling really off about the experience. :/
The free roaming peacocks, water birds and wallabies are lovely. I adore the parrots who by choice hang out amongst the trees and some of the open areas. But for so many other animals the cages are small, and so many of them seem bored and sad; I still can’t shake the heartache of seeing a little lone corella caged in the petting zoo area saying “hello” and “knock knock” repetitively (though evidently not repetitively enough for the awful child banging its cage and yelling “knock knock” back at it, whose mother allowed this to happen for far too long, ugh). Witnessing this felt especially cruel given the family of corellas I saw living happy and free in a tree only minutes before.
Therefore, I do agree with some other reviewers that Gorge feels more like a zoo than a wildlife park. I note on some older reviews circa 2016 that Gorge did respond saying they were updating enclosures but there were still a heap now in 2022 that from memory haven’t changed or expanded much; from memory, the tamarins’ cages are the same as they were back in the early 2000s. The staff I interacted with were nice, and I don’t doubt for a moment that they care about the animals. I just really hope that if the park can’t provide bigger, more adept and enriching facilities for the animals very soon - particularly the exotic ones - that they admit it’s time to let them go somewhere that can.‬

‪Less than an hour from Adelaide CBD it is a different world, much more relaxed than a zoo, as it name suggests a park.
Being an older Aussie it was strange holding a Koala for the first time as part of the Lemur experience.
Recommendation: Go early and buy a $2.50 bag of food on your way in when the animals are super friendly and you get to see the wild lorikeets being fed. Also make sure you see the Bilby and walk through aviaries.‬

‪The Gorge Wildlife Park, is situated 30km northeast of Adelaide. Situated on 14 acres of land, which makes the park, one of the largest "privately owned", assembly of Australian and exotic animals, birds and reptiles, from Australia and overseas.
You are able to book your tickets online; Adults $19.00, Students $16.00, Concession $16.00, children ( aged 3-15) $12.00. Families ( 2 adults / 2 children ) $54.00.

The park was first opened in 1965, opened from 9 am to 5 pm, but is not open on "high fire risk days"; also is not open if the daily temperature is below 14 degrees Celsius or 34 degrees Celsius.

Public can have private encounters with koalas, which last for 15 minutes and costs $30.00. The public can also hold a koala, for 2 minutes which will cost $10.00.
The paths meander among shaded trees and the animals. You are able to get up close to the animals, you are able to feed them. You are able to purchase food for the animals from the kiosk.
The parks food and drinks are of good quality and well priced.

The park caters for visitors who would like a picnic or barbecue; there are areas set aside for these activities.
Unfortunately the encounter areas are not wheelchair or walker friendly, because the ground is uneven. To walk among the animals the area is wheel chair accessible.

The park provides "educational programs". You could spend the whole day there and still not see all the animals.
The park has a wide range of animals, which include: kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, dingos, echidnas. You are able to walk among the kangaroos and wallabies and feed them.

Other animals you will see are; meerkats, otters, playful monkeys, camels. There is an iguana; they also have a reptile area ( containing Boa constrictors, a carpet python). There are also American alligators. There are still more animals to spot.‬

Fantastisk!‬

‪Amazing end to our holiday in Australia. Spent a lovely afternoon here, only $19 entrance fee and $10 to cuddle a koala. You can purchase bags of food and feed the kanagroos. Staff were very friendly and are happy to answer any question that we asked about the animals. Perfect day. ‬

‪I spent my last day on holiday in Adelaide here and it was the icing on the cake! We got there at 10.30 and left at 5pm. We took over 1000 photos and videos. Lunch was very well priced and vegetarian options too.
We had the holding the Koala session at 10.30 and I was very impressed with how well the keepers supervised the Koalas making sure they were not stressed at all. We got lovely photos and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The variety of animals was good with animals from all over the world as well as native Australians. The reptile house was well done with spacious exhibits. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience.‬

‪Its awesome place which is an hour drive from Adelaide CBD. We can hold a koala and feed kangaroo and wallaby. Animal food are availabe for 2.5AUD which is more than enough to feed the animals. most of the animals and birds roam freely. Volunteering host reptile show too, when we will get an opportunity to touch oythons. They have a cafe and dining space so you can bring your own food or enjoy their food. Students concession fee is 16AUD. You wont regret if you visit it. It has all kinds of birds and animals. Penguins, camels, ostrich are few of them. Its a wheel chair friendly place.‬

‪I love this park and have visited numerous times. The entry fee is a lot cheaper than a zoo and you can hold a koala for $10.
There are lots of kangaroos around for you to feed and they are very friendly and follow you around. They have camels there and even crocodiles.
You could spend a few hours there. There is a little cafe and seating area or you could pack your own food.‬
