This little treasure is simply amazing. We have been buying candy here since our parents moved to California in 1959. This year 2020 they are celebrating their 100th year of the same family ownership, selling candy out of their little frame home. The reason they can make it .... even during this lockdown "Covid" year... in a remote tiny town on the edge of the Desert in East San Diego County... is simple. Absolutely fantastic quality chocolate and candy. All homemade with the best of ingredients... patience and love.
We stopped in last Thursday while camping at Lake Morena and were out exploring and visiting places we hadn't seen in years. We drove over on Monday... they were closed and we wrote down their new hours... came back on Thursday with six other campers with us.
It is not cheap.... and it is worth every penny... and more. We bought 1/2 pound milk chocolate almond buds, 1/4 pound milk chocolate cashew buds... and two almond turtles. Went out to the car and split a turtle while the others in our party shopped. We had already spent $38 and my wife took one taste of the turtle.... grinned at me and said "Honey why don't you run back in and get us four more turtles"... :-) Of course I did... and we've had chocolate every morning with our coffee since.
If you are traveling on Interstate 8... East or West through East San Diego County.... get off and go south down to Boulevard. You can't miss it... there are signs.... but this is a destination quality suggestion. It is worth a drive out there to just enjoy excellence and a long tradition of it.
There is no place to sit. 2 people at a time in the store.... It's TINY. It's quaint... It's the "Wisteria Candy Cottage" and you'll love it... and make it a tradition in your family too.

Old fashioned candy shop, off the beaten path. Way far out in East County of San Diego you will find this wonderful, quaint candy shop. Small place, don't bring a big crowd, but a nice variety of sweets for any age. Sugar free candy too. Friendly service to help you pick put something you'll love. Sometime it's great to get off teh interstate, and hit the old back roads and find a classic place like this.

Great homemade candy, and some premade like the old fashioned candy sticks. Also some old time soda flavors in glass bottles. Awesome.

This is one of my all time favorite homemade candy shops in San Diego County. First time there was as a child aproxamently 50 years ago. Since then have taken my wife and then the children.
Looking forward to taking the grandkids.
They also have mail order.
I think, last I remember was that it's 3rd or 4th generation owned. It's a friendly little Shop with lots of goodies.
A must try if in the neighborhood.
A 5 star yummy to the tummy experience.

My husband and his family have been coming here for years. It's a cute little pit stop in the middle of nowhere. If you are driving to San Diego and need a candy or chocolate fix this is the place! The chocolate turtles are by far our favorite things!

During a road trip on old highway 80 we came across this little place in the middle of nowhere. The owner was really nice and shared her local information of the area with us. The shop as a small but really enticing selection of hand dipped chocolate. The dipped seafoam candy is fantastic and her selection of fudges are soooooooo good. We tried the butter cream fudge, WARNING... It is rich!!! But it's tastes so good, it just melts in your mouth. Absolutely worth a stop.

Small quaint "gingerbread" style shop offering home made/dipped candy and chocolates. Pricey but good selection if you are looking for a treat. We bought fudge, nougats and caramels...all very tasty. Slow service if the shop is busy...prepare to wait.

If you're ever heading East on I 8 from San Diego exit 65 is a must get off. The tiny town of Boulevard boasts one of the very best candy kitchens on the planet. The Wisteria Candy Cottage owned and operated by Dana makes the best hand made Truffles and Turtle's you'll ever eat. It's a really fun friendly place to take a break from the road and satisfy your sweet tooth. The Seafoam candy, Divinity, and Yule Log will have you thinking about Grandma's kitchen too.

Located in the middle of no where. It is a bit of a drive from the city but if your driving the back highways, it is a nice scenic drive. Staff is very friendly. Inside it is kind of small as the back portion of the building is taken up by the kitchen. They have confections they make in house but they also carry some obscure sodas. This is a great place to stop in if your in the area passing through. The products they make are really good.

I grew up with the Wisteria Candy Cottage and I love it to this day. As a kid, it was perfection. As an adult, I appreciate this store for the true gem it is. The quality of the chocolates is second to none, and it is a very charming, quaint store. I don't visit near as frequently as I could, but they do have a website that makes it possible to get my hands on some of their treats even if I am not in the area.
