I walked into the school to find the staff arguing over the internet connection, and the instructor appeared agitated for no clear reason. Unfortunately, he was rude and impatient, taking phone calls during the course, including one from a previous student demanding information about the second part of the course at the shooting range. That student was promised a text later that afternoon. What was supposed to be a 3.5-hour course ended abruptly after just one hour, and we were rudely asked to leave because another class was starting shortly.
We were sold overpriced bullets and safety equipment without any consultation. Additionally, we were promised a text message with details about a shooting range practice that afternoon, but that message never arrived. Overall, this experience was very unprofessional and disrespectful, and I felt like my money was taken in a scam—not at all what was promised on their website.

Harold, our coach, is a really nice guy. The imparting of the necessary knowledge for the belly of the shooting range was quick and entertaining. Since there was no car available, Harold was nice enough to take us with him. Thank you for that. All in all, the Lurs was a very pleasant experience.

Definitely disappointing. I paid a total of $689 (2 people) for a home defense training class. When I booked, class length was advertised as 8am-10pm (14 hours). After calling to confirm, was told class is 9am-3pm (6 hours). Fine. Arrived at training location which was essentially just a cluttered office. Sat with "instructor" who presented no course overview, no visual material, no plan for the day, etc. Instructor just sat there trying to think of things to say to us about guns and home defense. This pre-range portion of the course lasted from 9:30am-11am (1.5 hours). Then we went to the range and met up with the other shooting instructor. Range time lasted for less than an hour and there was pretty minimal instruction despite asking lots of questions. On top of this, they were pushing hard for us to purchase extras from them (ammo, eye/ear protection) and I had to refuse repeatedly. All in all I paid nearly $700 for less than 3 hours of mediocre instruction. In no way did we leave here feeling like we got our money's worth. Apparently there was a PowerPoint presentation that the instructor "forgot" to show us. We were told we could go back to the office (40 min drive from the range) to view this presentation but no partial refund was offered. Find something else because this place is not it.

The operation was smooth, and the instructor was excellent. He helped me through the FSC exam and registration as well as instructing me on the proper use of firearms.

Signed up my son for both tactical courses, pistol and shotgun. Scott and Harold are a dynamic instructor team. Both were professional, clear and supportive from first call to hands on hardware specific training and repetition, all the way to the range. Where the training was positively reinforced and expertly guided. My son came out beaming from both courses.

This place feels sketchy from the beginning. The entrance is really a scuba diving business that must be run by slobs. The place is a musty mess. The “classroom” is a table surrounded by gun safes and also a total mess. At this point I really wanted to walk out. I’m a pretty experienced shooter but I figured at the very least, all I needed to do was get to the range and get some instruction there. The class portion was really just chitchat and some brief loading instructions. Nothing about taking apart or cleaning my shotgun. Harold seems a pretty nice, but nice is meaningless when I want solid instruction. Then he says to drive from Burlingame down to Santa Clara and meet him at the indoor range, but give him some time because he wants to stop for a bite to eat. Weird. By the time he shows up we then had to wait for a lane, so I wandered around the range shop looking at some weapons that look like they’d be fun to own. In the end we shot about 60 rounds and I was done. Other than stance and zeroing in my red-dot, which I could do, I had it with Harold.
My prior instruction was always with some super experienced law enforcement and military guys.
Needless to say, I cannot recommend this outfit. It’s weird and fly-by-night. Now that I see other reviews I wish I’d bothered to look them up. Go elsewhere. And oh yeah, they say you get a “certificate”. I wonder what value that has? Never got one and don’t want it.

I signed up for the "Introductory Shooter Bundle Course," and the first portion of the class was taken at their little classroom in Burlingame, and the shooting portion took place at Reed's Indoor Range. The lecture took about one and a half hour where the instructor, Scott, went over the mechanics of a handgun, how to hold the gun properly, how to load and unload the gun, and watched a video related to gun training. I couldn't do the shooting portion on the same day due to the range being packed on the weekend, so the shooting instructor, Harold, was kind and understanding to meet with me on another weekday and spent another hour of his times teaching me the proper technique of shooting a gun, e.g. the stance, grip, eyesight/level, loading and reloading the magazine, and group shots. Overall, it was a positive learning experience for a beginner student such as myself. I would recommend giving Bay Area Firearms Training a try if you're looking to learn about gun and shooting but be mindful that you have to travel to Reed or perhaps another location, depending on the class, to do the range shooting portion. I will consider taking their classes again in the future.

Attended the pistol training course and could not have been happier with that decision. The safety portion of the day was clear and descriptive and the instruction received at the range was excellent.

Harold was a great instructor. He taught everything I needed to know to pass the Firearm's Safety test and properly handle and fire a gun. He was very patient, professional and proficient. I recommend this class to all new and rusty people.
