Karma and his team at Bhutan Mountain Holiday are the absolute best! Karma is very responsive and was so helpful with even the smallest of details in planning our trip to Bhutan. He made the planning process very smooth and adjusted our itinerary as necessary to accommodate our family of 4 (we were traveling with a 6 and 2 year old). Once we landed in Paro, we were greeted by Mr. Bista (our guide for the week) and Mr. Toshi (our driver). Both we excellent, very professional and made our week holiday very memorable. Mr. Bista's extensive knowledge of the country made for a rich experience, and Mr. Toshi was an extremely good and careful driver. 10/10 would recommend Bhutan Mountain Holiday to anyone planning to visit Bhutan!

Karma, Sangay, Jimmee from Bhutan Mountain Holiday Tours took great care of us while we were on holiday in Bhutan. Everything went smoothly from the airport pick-up until they dropped us off at the end of the tour. Sangay was very professional and knowledgeable about Bhutan and the sites we were seeing which make the experience even more memorable. We would highly recommend their services to anyone who is considered a trip to Bhutan which is a once in a lifetime experience.

Karma, Sangay, Jimmee and Bhutan Mountain Holiday gave Susie and me an extraordinary visit to Shangri-La. During the Covid lockdown, we wanted to see Bhutan as soon as the country opened for visitors. Karma was the only tour operator who stayed in constant contact, arranging the best tour starting 10 days after Bhutan opened. We had a private vehicle, driver and guide... all excellent. Sangay spoke fluent English and will always remain a friend. I couldn't imagine a more knowledgeable and kinder, caring guide. The inns Karma choose were all comfortable; and the rooms were the best available. We were treated like VIPs where ever we went. All we can say about Bhutan and Bhutan Mountain Holiday is... "GO!"

When I chose Bhutan as the destination for my trip it was because I wanted to see natural landscapes and at the same time to meet a special culture. I contacted well in advance several travel agencies; comparing their offers I chose Bhutan Mountain Holiday because their itinerary looked closer to what I was looking for. And I was not disappointed, at all. The organisation was perfect, from the very beginning to the very end. The guide and the driver were very professional, able to answer all my questions and to put up with all my requests, even when we had to change our plans because of the weather (notoriously unpredictable in the mountains). The trip was the right combination of nature (I took many hikes, some easy some quite strenuous, some standard some in very isolated places, all in wonderful surroundings) and culture (visiting isolated monasteries and participating to a national festival; learning about the Bhutanese way of life and the Bhutanese everyday life, such a fascinating combination of ancient wisdom and selected modernity). I had the fortune of visiting Bhutan in a special moment, just a few days after the country was reopened to tourism, and so I was able to see a few ceremonies and religious objects that were not usually shown to tourists --- also because the guide Bista soon understood my tastes and was able to lead me where I wanted to go. Summing up, a wonderful trip in a very special country, perfectly organised by mr. Karma and his staff at Bhutan Mountain Holiday: thank you!

Our guide was Sangay, and our driver was Jigme. We started out meeting at the airport with what we came to understand as typical Bhutanese understated efficiency and grew to become friends who exchanged ideas, learned from one another and experienced the country, history, culture and nature.
The depth of Sangay's knowledge never ceased to amaze us, and his ability to stitch the country's history, unique form of Buddhism and national culture made this among the richest experience we've ever had.
We asked Karma for a tour that blended history, culture, outdoor activity and education - he delivered because of these guys. Every hotel was very comfortable, even as we visited toward the end of the winter season 2020.
We covered a lot of ground during the visit: hiking across the Chelel La Pass on our way to the Haa Valley; the Farm House stay in Paro; hiking across the u-shaped Phobjikha Valley where the graceful black-necked cranes from the Tibetan Plateau spend the winter season; to every single dzong we entered.
And, being fitted for our Gho in Thimpu was a treat. I've worn it twice in Washington D.C. and people were amazed. I have nothing but stories and beautiful memories of Bhutan, and I owe it all to Mr. Karma and his men. Thank you.

I send my programme to Bhutan Mountain Holiday and I always received a quick answer and useful suggestions for my trip to Bhutan.
My tour was very well organised and my guide and driver very good.

Our tour organizer Mr. Karma worked with us to plan our ideal experience including great activities such as rafting, hiking, archery and many cultural experiences including an amazing farm stay. We are vegetarian and all of our meals were carefully chosen for us to highlight the best (vegetarian) cuisine from Bhutan, we never had to ask or double check what we were being served! Our guide Mr. Tulla was extremely kind and knowledgeable and was a font of interesting information and great to hike with. Our Drivers Mr. Rinzi and Mr. Kencho were excellent and great fun to be around on our 8 day tour of this amazing country. We highly recommend visiting Bhutan and organizing your trip through Bhutan Mountain Holiday.

Our family had a wonderful 10-day trip with Bhutan Mountain Holiday. Karma put together a great itinerary and we loved our guide, Sangye, and our driver, Mr. Tashi. Our trip focused on Buddhist religious and historical sights and long day hikes. All were excellent. Sangye is quite knowledgeable, particularly about the iconography in various shrine rooms, etc., and a pleasure to spend each day with.Our daughter is interested in Himalayan folk music and Karma arranged for us to visit with the Music of Bhutan Research Center. All of the hikes were quite memorable (a particular highlight was a magical day hike to Chumbu Ney north of Paro, which is not in many guidebooks). We particularly appreciate that BTM was flexible and worked with us when unexpected snow prevented us from being able to drive over the pass to the Phobjikha valley. They adjusted quickly and worked with us to revise the itinerary. We ended up with an extra day in Paro and we serendipitously saw a local ceremony that occurs only once every two years. All of the hotels were of good quality. We felt we were in good hands the entire time.
One caveat -- and I think applies generally to Bhutan and is not a specific criticism of BTM -- but if you are interested in eating local food, you have to push hard for it. Tours are structured around tourist buffets for lunch and dinner at the hotel. Most of the buffets feature some mix of Indian and seemingly Chinese food, and the hotels often try to tailor dinners on the assumption that you want food from home. There are advantages to the lunch buffet -- much faster than a local Bhutanese or Tibetan restaurant would be (where meals are made from scratch for you) and it helps to eat quickly if you have a full day of touring, and the buffets are set up for the guides and drivers to get a much needed break, as they put in long days. We really enjoyed that Sangye arranged for a few lunches at local restaurants along the way, and persuaded hotels to prepare samplings of Bhutanese food for several dinners, and we had three great homemade Bhutanese meals as part of a one-night farm stay in Paro, but the Lonely Planet guidebook is full of interesting restaurant options and if you are adventurous and want that experience (with whatever company you use) you need to emphasize this when you make your tour arrangements. But we would not let this small point get in the way of booking through BTM; overall we had a really rich and enjoyable experience. We would gladly book with them again if we ever return to Bhutan.

After years of wanting to visit Bhutan we finally made it in December 2019. I chose BMH to organise our trip after researching tour agencies and emailing a few. This company responded quickly and with detailed responses. Thank you Karma. Although I was uncomfortable wiring the payment to a US bank all was reputable. We asked for a tour itinerary to expose us to culture and nature incorporating trekking. Our requests were accommodated with a superb itinerary including the Druk Trek. The trek team were amazing. Such divine food and organisation. I wish I had tipped them more! Our guide, Sangay, and driver, Tashi, were a swell team. They provided great support. Sangay was extremely knowledgeable about anything we asked. Some accommodation was superb based on facilities and staff. Sangay and Tashi even gave up their time to take me to the hospital after a finger injury sustained on the trek. They were helpful in navigating an unfamiliar health system (unfortunately despite a swollen and twisted finger the doctor failed to detect a break). We were a family with two teenage children and the itinerary accommodated us all. Highly recommended.

Everything for our 10 day trip had been arranged in less than 2 weeks before we departed. The boss Karma is very responsive and flexible. He customized the agenda as our request to visit some specific places. Our tour guide Tula, who is knowledgeable not only about history and culture but also about species of birds and flowers in Bhutan, and our driver Karma are just very nice and well took care of us. They always made sure we enjoy our time. Many memorable things/experience in this trip. Highly recommended to anyone wants to visit this beautiful country.

We are 4 senior citizens ( age 62-69 ) strictly vegetarian. 2 are Indian citizen and 2 are NRE Indian - holding US passport. We all can easily walk and possibly climb 350-500 meters. We are considering Bhutan in 3rd week of February 2019 for 5-7 days.
Kindly recommend us what we could do best.

Hi,
My father is ~71 and my mother is ~68. They just visited Bhutan last month for a week and hiked almost 2- 3 hours everyday except the first day. It’s comfortable provided that you’re mentally strong enough to do that. However, you can also skip the hectic hiking if you want to BUT I highly recommend that you at-least give your best to reach the peak of “Tiger’s Nest”. That’s a beauty which you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
Just one word of precaution if you’re travelling through a travel agent – be careful and wise in picking an agent. I travelled solo and my travel agent was great, however I picked someone else to accompany my parents [Company: Bhutan Foothills, Owner/Guide: Tashi Dolma] was a mess and she behaved/acted terrible with my parents! Will write in a separate note in TripAdvisor.
Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy your time in Bhutan and don’t worry about hiking. The beauty of the nature will ease out all your pain!
