Although the Planes of Fame Museum has aircraft of many countries of origin on display, and also a prototype of an early American jet engine, the Lockheed L-1000, the corners of some of the museum's hangars contain models of so many military, civil, and experimental aircraft from the annals of aviation history. I was struck at so many models of experimental and military aircraft and missiles from World War I to the present day, including advanced X-series aircraft, early cruise missiles, and a couple military aircraft designed by Howard Hughes.

I will say this right out of the door I do not wright reviews so this is saying something. I live 40 miles away from here I have been here before and they have a nice collection to look at both inside and outside. The issues I have is that they are open during this pandemic we are dealing with I am thankful they are open to give us something to do the thing that suck is that you can only look at their bone yard which is only 2 rows of plane no sign telling you about them. The hanger were open you could look in but not walk in. I would have never made the trip and paid full price for to go look at what I got to see. I was their maybe 35 min when a guild sent me to go look at the B17 my daughter and I were walking down the isle a guild came around the corner and yelled what are you doing here you cant be here leave who sent you down here. I was pissed at the way yelled at 1 3 girl. I went up to the front desk and told the woman what had happen and she was like wow I dont t know why he would do that. The bottom line is dont waste your time and money at this place poor service and poor customer care. If you are out their look at Yank air way better place to spend you time.

I love the annual air show they have with so many of the old warbirds flying! The museum is nice too and it’s one of the first things to reopen after COVID-19! They’re currently restoring a B-17 to flight readiness as well as a real piece of history, a Messerschmitt Ff109 E1/7 (Bf 109) that fought in the Battle of France, the Battle of Britain and the Eastern Front! They also have various warbirds from around the world! Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

Loved! We’ve gone multiple times between the yearly air show, flying history, and just to take the kids it’s always amazing!

We love Plane museums, and we loved seeing this one! We didn't even have time to see all of the exhibits because we wanted to beat the freeway crush back to our lodging. This is near many dairies so it does NOT smell like aviation fuel. :) There are MANY things to see, and a very nice gift shop, also. Next time we will pack a picnic so we don't waste time going out to eat. Biplanes, props, jets and even the USS Enterprise time-line and jets are covered at this museum. Wonderful! I am sure we will return to see what we have missed.

I've been to a number of aircraft museums across the country, this one ranks up with the best. Great facility and staff. Took my time going through the museum, very laid back. Great collection. Really liked the gift store.

If you want to see the most flying A/C from all nations from pre WW 2 to Vietnam come and visit our museum. Never at one time will you see the same thing since new thing happen there all the time. The museum offers one of a kind A/C and is well represented with war planes of all types. There are plenty of people there all the time to help you through the different hangers. If stumped about some detail go the gift shop and ask for them to get a guide to help you

NOTE TO TRIPADVISOR STAFF: This review text was inadvertently published under the heading of CHICO Air Museum. PLEASE DELETE THIS REVIEW THAT IS PUBLISHED UNDER CHICO AIR MUSEUM. THANK YOU.
This is a great, well maintained air museum, with about four hangars of pristine aircraft, ranging from a replica of the Wright Flyer to a cutaway space capsule. Outside there are an array of aircraft, mostly jets, presumably awaiting funds for refurbishment. There is one hangar of Navy aircraft; my favorite was the F9F-5 Panther of Korea War fame (see the movie, The Bridges at Toko-Ri, or read the book by James Michener to get a feel for this plane in action). There are plaques in front of the hangared aircraft, and at any given time, Museum volunteers are working on various aircraft, many of which fly on a regular basis. WWII aviation buffs will love this museum, with its P-47, P-40, P-51, B-17, B-25, etc. There is a lot here, and depending on your level of interest, you can spend anywhere from 2 hours to a full day here. When you're hungry, grab a bite a Flo's Airport Cafe, a couple blocks away on the airport grounds.

Is it possible to get to Planes of Fame by public transport?
From the main tourist areas of LA?

Public transportation would be quite a challenge from the tourist areas of Los Angeles. The Planes of Fame Museum is in rural Chino about 40 miles away from LA. Personally I would not take public transportation from LA to the Chino Airport (where Planes of Fame is).
What's the parking fee?

Hi, we're off on holiday soon, we live in England, and I'm really looking to visiting PoF Museum :0)
I could do either Saturday the 18th, Sunday 19th or Monday 20th of July.
Two questions, 1) any thoughts on which day would be best to visit and why?
2) I'll need to travel from Hollywood, any thoughts on how I could get there, assuming its a train / taxi combo ?
Would appreciate any advice. Cheers, Darren

Hi Darren, I live in SanDiego and am a native Californian. We just don't have the kinda public transportation that your used to in the UK. The only reasonable way for you would be to rent a car and drive there.
I think the weekend would be easier just from a traffic standpoint. There will be a few more people there but the crowds are never overwhelming so that's not much of a concern.
I agree with the previous writer to see the Yanks museum that's maybe 1/2 mile away.
Are you allowed to go inside the planes or touch them?

Our B-17, a WWII bomber is open for tours on Saturdays, Sundays and most holiday Mondays. You can get right next to the many of the aircraft, within touching distance, but we ask that you respect that as flyable aircraft, touch gently or refrain from touching.
How much is admission
imchamal
New Braunfels, تكساس76 مساهمة
$11 for adults and a dollar off for kids and seniors.
