A relatively easy walk...went with two seniors and 3 kids in tow. There beauty scenery all around. The lake at the top is absolutely stunning. There's a cute little store where you can rent row boats and we rowed one out to the other side of the lake to touch the melting snow. We bought lemonade from the store too and it was delicious. Kids loved playing on the beach. It was a wonderful morning :)

Beautiful place - hike at end to Angora Lake - stop along the way at historic Angora lookout over Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe - cabins look great

do it ..its not a difficult hike,, hard to find and harrowing drive along angora ridge lookout ..bring cash for "California's fees" ...including the air we breathe

The drive to Angora Lakes is beautiful. We took a 12 passenger Ford Transit so even though the road is rough, you can make it in most any car I would think. When you get to the parking lot, you need to have $8.00 in cash to put in the self pay envelope. After parking, you have about a 3/4 a mile uphill walk to get to the lake. When you crest the hill to the lake, you won't believe the amazing sight. The lake is gorgeous and the granite cliffs surrounding it are stunning. You can rent paddle boards, canoes, and row boats for $24 an hour. The store serves delicious homemade lemonade, Popsicles and sandwiches. Angora Lakes is one of our very favorite destinations, and if you go it will become one of yours as well.

Minimal effort with a huge reward. Recently, we returned to Angora Lakes and it never fails to amaze us. We went on a Monday around noon and found parking. Parking is currently $8 and cash is required. The walk to Upper Angora Lake is via a wide path and is doable by people of all ages. Our niece and her husband carried their 15 month old in a pack. We've done it when our daughter was about two years old and she walked the entire way. We always enjoy hanging out on the beach, renting a row boat, jumping from rocks. Looking forward to our next visit.

After the drive it was an easy hike. We went on a Friday and had no problem parking in the USFS parking lot. Fee is $8 per vehicle. Small snack and gift shop ( Angora Lakes Resort) had limited, but, sufficient drinks and snacks if you didn't bring your own. With the snow pack melting we could see several waterfalls cascading down the steep mountain that forms the backdrop for the upper lake. Glad I was able to mark this off my "bucket list"!!!

This hidden gem is difficult to find. While hiking on another trail we asked some locals for suggestions of great trails. They looked at each other and asked, "shall we tell our secret"? A somewhat steep half mile climb is rewarded by a most spectacular sight. You come to a beautiful lake surrounded by cabins. Snow piles remained during our June 12 visit. Continue on to a second lake also surrounded by a few cabins. The lake has a most spectacular setting. Rocks and melting snow created well over 30 waterfalls. We wanted to brand this sight in our brains so ordered a sandwich and the famous homemade lemonade. This spot will be a forever memory.

Takes a bit of planning to get here and the drive can be a bit of a challenge as it's narrow and sometimes meeting cars requires some manipulation, but it's well worth it. The drive alone is very scenic, be sure and stop at the Angora overlook about half way. There is a nice parking area at the end of the road and about a mile (maybe less) well maintained trail to the lakes. The lakes themselves are very pretty and serene. The camp that is there does close in the off season.

Simple 3/4 mile hike with some uphill walking from the parking lot. The resort is currently closed, but the fall colors are in effect at this pretty lake area. We took photos and enjoyed the lunch we brought along. This was a fun few hours.

Do they have a cliff that you can jump off into the water?

They have lakeside boulders that patrons jump from, but it's strongly discouraged due to the decent likelihood of injury or death, and the remote location and delay in emergency response. In fact, the day we visited, a note had been left atop the higher point that indicated that someone had died from a jump the night before. There are plenty of other activities to partake in, and some boulders in the lake itself that you can climb up. There are far better ways to go than drowning after breaking your neck in front of a bunch of kids, like old age!
