So I got the 36 mile package as part of a charity auction drawing that I won. The first day I went out, they had a couple of accidents earlier so I was unable to both drive. I did do a ride-along however which was very helpful in knowing what to do for the drive. I was a little hesitant to do this as I didn't see the "manual drive" part until the night before the event. I learned on a stick and drove one for 10 years, but that was 25 years ago. Turns out, it is pretty much just like riding a bike. Didn't stall out the car the first time out so I was happy with that. So, came back the second day to do the drive. I decided to attend the class again just to make sure I had all the instructions down. The crew there was nice enough to comp me another ride-along for free even though I had done one the day before. So I get ready to go and take off per the spotter's direction. Unfortunately, that was the last command I could clearly hear from the spotter. Each time I got up to speed, all I heard was a garbled mess of commands amongst the roar of the engine. The crew did their best to accomodate, but after three different adjustments I still couldn't hear the spotters commands. My ears were ringing from the sound of the engine, so even though I wasn't done with my 36 laps, I took myself out for the safety of the other drivers. It wasn't safe for me to be out there when I couldn't do what my spotter wanted me to. I bought the video and photo package and I have a nice souvenir from the experience. If I go again, I will try and see if i can purchase some in-ear noise cancelling type headphones so I can hear the spotter better. Thanks guys for a great experience!!

I purchased the 10 lap driving experience at Auto Club Speedway through Rusty Wallace Driving Experience on Groupon in October 2020 for my husband as a 40th birthday present. $338.00
We immediately went online to Rusty Wallace Driving Experience website to redeem the groupon voucher and book his date for November 2020. That process went smooth and we added on a 3 lap ride along, video package, insurance and photo plaque. $268.59. Great, we were very excited.
Shortly before his event date we were notified that no spectators were allowed due to COVID protocols in the area. No problem they let us reschedule. Process fairly smooth except that you can never get anyone on the phone and you can only communicate through email. We got him rescheduled for February 2021. That comes around and again no spectators allowed. Rescheduled again for November 13, 2021. Found out we couldn't make that date, they allowed us to move it to November 14, 2021. The day is finally here and we are elated for this experience.
We drove over 2 hours, stayed in a hotel for $170.00 and then had to drive over 2 hours home. Still totally worth it, if it is a great experience.
Our scheduled time was 10:00 am. They ask you to arrive 30 minutes early. No problem. We get all checked in, still very excited. We even paid an additional $150.00 to upgrade to the latest and greatest model car they offer.
It was very hot that day, in the 90's. My husband, myself, my 12 year old son and 9 year old daughter went. They had 2 small canopies and metal chairs for people. They offered no shade or water (unless you paid more money) to the drivers who were standing in long lines in the blazing sun for at least 30 min per line waiting for their turn. You had to wait in two line if you were doing both a ride along and driving. Still worth it at this point if the experience in the car went good.
My husband was now in line for his turn to drive. He was told that there was only one of the upgraded cars left and he would be in the car as soon as possible. He was in line for well over an hour. The guy at that point was really nice. He ended up getting him into a different car - better. This was to accommodate his height as well as the extremely long wait in the heat. Great so nice of them and he is now in the car, we are all so excited. Here is where it went downhill.
When they got him the car they initially did not put the go pro on his car, I had to tell the guy that he had it on his package. He assured me that he would put it on. He did at the last minute. Okay hubby is off and driving. He did his laps and came in. He indicated that the in car radio that they give you ear buds for was only working in one ear and he could barely hear anything and what he could hear he couldn't understand. Oh well no harm no foul but kinda sucky because he couldn't tell how many laps he had left and slowed 1 lap early. Then he stayed low on the track which is the slower line because he couldn't hear the spotter enough to tell him if someone was coming. Even with that he was fairly happy and enjoyed the experience.
Then we went to check the video at the front as instructed to do in the paperwork. We were informed there was 4 seconds of video and nothing else. We said ok so what does this mean? Only thing they offered was a refund of the amount paid for the video ($39.00 + tax = $42.00) OR two free shirts OR a photo plaque which we already had and paid for.
At this point we were very upset. It was now 1:40 in the afternoon. We had been there since 9:30 out in the sun and no video for him to go back and enjoy. We spoke with three employees onsite at the track and no one had any compassion for what had taken place. Each of the three people told us a different reason for the lack of video on the card. We said can you just put him back in a car ANY car for a few laps to ensure some video....NOPE. There response was merely take the refund, or the shirts or a plaque or take it up with corporate on Monday.
We left very disappointed and fuming. Before ever leaving the parking lot I emailed corporate to let them know exactly what happened and asked them to please make this right.
THE ONLY THING THEY WOULD DO was refund the $42.00 and offer us a free video and a few extra laps if we come back. NO WAY AM I EVER giving this place any more of my money when they don't care or understand that the customers overall experience and satisfaction is what matters. Driving these cars are a rush for sure and your adrenaline is pumping the entire time. You are enjoying it but also trying not to crash so its hard to take it all in. The video is a way for you to go back any really take in what you just got to do. We were robbed of that.
SO let me get this straight I already gave your company $756.59 to do this event and YOUR company messed up our memories and you only want to give me a refund of $42.00 and a few free laps and a free video IF I come back and give you another $756.59 of my hard earned money. I THINK NOT!!!
So what could have been a wonderful memory ended up leaving a bad impression and our pocket book being $714.59 emptier. SHAME on this company for not caring about the customers!!!
Bottom line, if you go through this company for your experience.......bring tons of water, snacks, sunscreen and your own shade. Be prepared for a very long day. Come armed with your own way to take video. Don't expect any compassion or remedy if something goes wrong, other then the dollar amount paid for whatever went wrong. As for me and my family we will choose another experience in the hopes that they care more.

My wife took me to drive one of their supercars in Schaumburg, Illinois. The vibe we got back from the staff was pretty much negative. They look grumpy and very unorganized. They use a low-resolution camera to take pictures and the video they offer while you are driving is a forwarding camera (like a dashcam) so the camera is not facing you whatsoever, which is ridiculous, makes no sense at all. They use a big parking lot to run the event but they use just less than half of the space available, which is a rip-off. You won't have the space to feel the power of the engine for at least 3 seconds, so many curves and just one little straight area where like I said you can't enjoy at all. Won't recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible.I guess this experience is not for everyone. I purchased 20 laps with the picture and video package about a year and a half ago. I got it for my wife who always wanted to drive a race car. The event was rescheduled like 3 times. Five minutes after purchasing this package I called with the concern that my wife couldn’t drive a standard transmission. They told me there was no chance of getting a refund. That they deal with this all the time and they would push her on to the tracking second gear. When we get to the track the convinced us to get the insurance and a ride along package as well. Another hundred and 30 bucks. But ok. She went on the ride along and the guy driving didn’t say one word. Took her three laps and that was it. Long story shorter she didn’t get the push out.so she never made it out of first gear. She said the guy on the radio was yelling at her the whole time. She only went three of the 20 laps and then gave up and wanted to go home. At the end we got the picture of the car and a picture of her sitting on the car, both blurry! So yeah I would say if you have a lot of money to throw away and you can already drive a race car. Go for it. If not haul ass in your car on the freeway while taking a selfie and you’ll have a better experience.

Horrible! Bought as xmas gift. Cars wouldn't start, staff uneducated, and mostly UNSAFE! Paid for 5 laps, was put in 3 different cars and all of them failed to make 1 full lap. Did not train properly as far as track itself. Tried to get money back to no avail!

The driving part was OK, although the cars felt quite beat up and the experience was too controlled and felt quite artificial. It took over 2 years to finally get a date without any issues - communication was always poor with RW, rude customer service. The insurance was more expensive than the rate they gave THE NIGHT BEFORE on an email message, no explanation - they tried hard to get your money. I bought 8 laps but I have no doubt that I did 6, at most. Careful, they tried to get you through all angles!

Sept 19 M.I.S. in Michigan was not great as far as the upgraded cot car. Car #20 homedepot Car would absolutely not turn. Was so tight the right front was skipping and sliding. Im understanding those are not the real deal cars but for a upgrade should of kept my money. I tried telling the guys but they just didnt care.. I wasn't going to make a big deal about it, they are just moving the line along.The lady in the trailer super nice, instructor did his part, the lady handing out helmets and suits was not nice, actually I would fire her. . The car for the money,, really needed new front right tire, crossweight change or a less right front spring rate.

Just wanted to share my recent experience with Rusty Wallace Racing Experience at Dover International Speedway. I have had the best customer service every time I have called to rebook my driving experience. I have booked it a good 5 times and it got rained out every single time. I was finally able to go this past Sunday. The instructions did not have the gate number (on the email) but I called Jen and her voicemail gave me the exact directions, which was extremely helpful. Check in and registration was fast and easy. Had absolutely no issues at all. We then attended the orientation class, which was about 45 minutes. It was an amazing time because we heard so much information and people asked great questions. The orientation was led by Dan, who was great and provided lots of safety tips and guidelines. Everyone wore masks and we were spaced out in orientation, which was nice. Then, my boyfriend went to get his suit and helmet, which was clean. We then went outside, and the staff was really helpful with getting him into his car. It was definitely a bucket list experience. However, I booked 15 laps and my boyfriend only drove 8 or 9 laps. I ran up to the staff member and told him that he only drove 8 or 9 laps because I recorded every time he went around a turn, to help me keep track. The staff member radio-ed another staff member, who said that he did 15 laps. They let him do a 4-lap drive along with a pro, which was really disappointing because I paid for 15 laps. Not to mention, there were 2 gentlemen in front of us who had miscalculated laps. There was only one person keeping track of all 6 cars that were out on the track. One gentleman got called into pit road after 6 laps, even though he booked 12. The staff member let him go back into the car and drive the other 6 laps. There was another guy who drove 10 laps and got called in to pit road and it turns out he had 2 more laps to go, which the staff member let him finish. I am not sure exactly why my boyfriend only did half of the laps, but I was really angry at the staff. It was ridiculous, because it is $15/per additional lap and they didn’t calculate correctly, which isn’t right or fair. I would recommend the experience but please keep track of your own laps!!!

We were scheduled for Feb 17 on Homestead at 3 PM, drove more than 2 hours, took a boring class of 45 minutes waiting in line on the sun for more than 2 hours to tell me they will re-schedule. I call a Bill Coady didn't even offer me anything back. The worst company you can book. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANy don't give money to these people, I'm planning to report them to BBB

Rusty Wallace kept rescheduling for over a year so we never ended up driving at the track. Good luck getting a refund.
