‪While lacking the scale and grandeur of Yosemite or Kings Canyon, this glaciated creek has much to offer. The trail along it begins in trees and shade, gentle ripples and pleasant gurgling, then progresses through steeper scrub land and, at a bend in the creek channel, brings one to the glacial polished, granitic washes, rapids and small waterfalls that make the walk worthwhile. It is perhaps a mile from the parking area, and there are a few steep and narrow places - definitely not handicap accessible. One should be in at least moderately good shape in terms of both endurance and footing/balance to visit. Also, it can be hot in summer, icy and tricky in winter.‬

‪I've kayaked Brush Creek a lot but since I've been taking my non kayaker wife up it is also a great place to go hiking. There is a moderately difficult trail that runs right along the side of the river. Be careful depending on how high the water is. The water can be very swift. At low flows there are great swimming holes.‬

‪A nice place to go for some water fun. It can get quite busy on the weekends. Granite rock polished by the creek creates nice water slides and pools to cool off in. A little bit of a hike to get there but lots of fun for the day. Watch out for rattlesnakes on the hike in! ‬

‪This was a little bit of a challenging hike. Although not very long the trail was not marked very well and not cleaned very well. One you get to the falls it was well worth it. ‬

‪If you want to run waterfalls in your kayak and live in or near Southern California or are in that area this is the place. Brush Creek feeds into the Kern River near the Forks of the Kern takeout. The biggest drop is 16 feet of vertical fun. This is just one of several drops and slides. There is a guage painted under the bridge where Mountain Highway 99 crosses over the Creek. Anything above 1/2 on the guage is okay. Up to 2, the run is Class 3 to 4. At 3 and above the run definitely has Class 5 features. Above 5, it is a solid Class 5 run. Unless you are a solid Class 5 boater it is best to do the run with someone who knows the run, even at low levels. There are a couple of drops that most people portage and you could easily find yourself running something that you would rather walk.‬

‪My family and I used to camp at Brush Creek often, when the grandkids were young, but now they're all grown up, and spread out, but my eldest grandson, Skip and I are planning a small family reunion at Brush Creek, sometime in June. I have seen Google satellite maps of the area, and it did not seem to be badly damaged by the McNally fire, so we're going ahead with the plans. I do wish that there were at least vault toilets there, at least for the women.‬
