The ‘gold’ temple perfectly complements our visit to the silver temple previously.
While more heavily focussed on water features, the gold temple showcases its own stunning beauty with its tranquility and well maintained gardens.
While busy, the thoroughfare is wide enough to allow everyone to comfortably view each of the stunning views without obstruction. Entry is 400¥ and worth every cent, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

堂宇は豪華絢爛でもなければ、境内はわざとらしい造りがなされている訳でもありません。寺院、信仰の場としてはこれで十分でしょうね。観光寺でお金取って儲ける気はないみたいな寺院なので。ここは西山浄土宗の寺院です。自家用車でない場合はアクセスは山陰線、一番近いのは並河駅、それでも１０分弱、亀岡駅からだと延々と約５０分は歩く必要があります。山中にある訳ではないので・・ゆっくりと散策しながら歩くのも良いかと思う。ここは何を期待して行くのか？と云うことが大切、京都市内の金閣寺や銀閣寺、ましてや南禅寺等へ行くのと同じ目的では・・・ガッカリするだけです。侘び(わび)と寂(さび)が理解出来ない人は行かない方がいいかも・・・。

This was great to see as I skipped it last time I was in Kyoto. The temple itself is amazing to see, but the ground are not as cool as some of the other sights in Kyoto. The gardens at Ginkakuji are better in my opinion, but that temple is less spectacular in comparison.

No doubt that it's very beautiful, On top of the must visit attraction. It will be more interesting if you did some research to the story of the temple. Surely, it will be crowded but you will find a space for your own postcard picture.
