Wow! This was an amazing experience whale watching! We were lucky enough to see several fin whales and so many beautiful dolphins. The crew was fantastic. It was beautiful and I highly recommend!

This was amazing. One of my favorite activities. Chris and Saxon, our guides, were helpful and so great!!!!they had great attitudes even though it was the end of the day on a busy memorial day weekend. They also went around and checked on us (which I appreciated cause I am not usually a boat person) We hadn't seen any wildlife but Chris spotted a huge dolphin pod further out and so we went to see them and on the way back we spotted 3-4 finback whales!!!! They were willing to extend the tour a little bit so we got to spend time with the whales and dolphins.

We had such an amazing time whale watching in Oceanside, we booked last minute and had so much fun! We saw a pod of over 500 Dolphins including babies and 3 Fin Whales coming up for air!! The crew was so much fun and did such a good job!!

We were able to see an amazing amount of dolphins all around our boat. Swimming along side and right in front of the boat. Just as we were heading back to the dock we were fortunate to see 2 Fin whales. We would recommend this tour. The crew was very friendly and helpful!

We have gone on Oceanside Adventures' 2-hour excursion a few times over the years, so I sometimes get emails and other notifications from them. I had seen a recent posting that they had seen up to 12 fin whales within the last weeks. Having never seen fin whales, I was excited and signed us up.
We were disappointed not to see any fin whales, or any whales at all. That said, we know each tour is different, and there are no guarantees, so we weren't in any way blaming Oceanside Adventures for this. Anyway, we saw an enormous pod of common dolphins, and the captain Chris did a great job of telling us interesting facts about them as we watched them cavort alongside, in front of, and behind the boat. A bit further out, we came upon several sunfish (mola mola), and again, the captain shared many interesting facts with us. The mola mola were much more spread out than the dolphins, and by the time we had to head back to the harbor, we had seen more than 50 of these huge fish.
We were glad we followed the recommendations to bring clothing layers, because it was pretty cold out on the deck. But the view out there was fantastic. We were so busy enjoying the views, the wildlife, and the fresh sea air that we never even considered using the snack bar.
We took the first morning tour (9:30 am), expecting the water to be calm, and we were not disappointed. Riding out towards the open sea, we enjoyed some bumps as we went over the swells. The front of the boat was fun for this! It was typical "May gray," but the water was clear.
I would advise you to leave your cell phone in your car or at least in your pocket! Social media can wait. I couldn't believe how many people I saw sitting in the cabin looking at their phones THE WHOLE TIME. What a waste. I didn't even try to take any photos; it's more important to me to just enjoy the moment for what it is rather than to try to preserve it in a photo.
Our crew person, Saxon, was OK, but could have been a little more open and friendly. He didn't really go out of his way to engage the guests. But he was there if we had questions.
I highly recommend this tour, even just as a way to get out on the water and see the coastline from a different perspective.

We got what we paid for and more! This was a wonderful experience for my spouse and I. We saw many beautiful dolphins and even whales! The captain was knowledgeable and entertaining, and his crew was friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend this to everyone and would absolutely do it again.

My family and I (wife, toddler, and parents (over 65), took this tour and loved it! The crew was awesome, and you could tell they enjoyed their jobs, which always makes things more fun. They were extremely knowledgeable and made you feel like you were on a private tour (the tour itself was about 1/2- 3/4 capacity.
We were able to see some dolphins cruising alongside of the boat and doing tricks. We also saw 2 whales, which was a whole different type of experience.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it. Although we could see dolphins playing in the water in front of our rental, this was a completely different type of experience seeing a school of them in open waters.

This tour was awesome! Ended up seeing a lot of marine life, a fin whale, bottlenose dolphins, a giant sunfish, and some common dolphins plus some sea lions. The crew was very nice and knowledgeable on what exactly it was we were seeing which I loved. I have no complaints I would recommend this tour to anyone!

Yes we have one General Admission price of $44 at the moment due to the reduced passenger capacity of only 20 people. Infants (under 2) are $10 but must be booked by calling our ticket office 760-277-3737.
In October we offer Kids Ride Free all month, with the purchase of 2 full fare adult tickets, one child (12 & under) rides free.

Most likely you can't book that many because there is not 16 spots available for the trip you chose. We do offer group rate discounts for 15 or more passengers so please give us a call for further assistance. We will be happy to assist you.

I have a friend, coming in from New York - mid - late August. Is that good whale viewing time? Plus - I walk using a cane. Will I be able to board the boat?

Yes! We see whales and dolphins year round. Check out our Daily Sightings Log on our website.
The crew will be happy to assist you on and off the boat. We have no steps or stairs for easy access.

What might you see on a tour?
Nov-April: Gray Whales, Minke Whales, Humpback , Fin Whale and all 4 species of dolphin
May-Oct: Fin Whales, Blue Whales, Minke Whales, Humpback Whales and all 4 species of dolphin
Other sightings may include Orca, Pilot Whales, Turtles, Sharks, Sun Fish, Sea Lions and various birds and other marine life, one never knows what we will see next on one of our adventures. Our daily sightings log is on our web site.
Whales migrate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no “best” time to see whales or dolphins, but the weather on the water tends to be calmer in the morning.

We are traveling to Oceanside from Ohio the week of April 8th. In order to maximize what we may see on our boat tour what time of day would you recommend? The sunset cruise sounds great but I want to make sure we see dolphins/whales too.

How much does a 1/2 day fishing trip cost? Tackle included or separate rental?
We're coming to Escondido for Reunion in May, 13-14, Do you have any short trips early AM on Sundays? My husband and I are driving over from Bisbee, AZ. Our stany is very short, but would love to go out on a boat, and cast some anchovies over the side. Thanks so much for the information about what's available that weekend in May!
