We walked this trail/road on a summer morning in a thick fog that prevented us from seeing much of the ocean. Still, it was an enjoyable walk and still quite scenic.

Nice out and back paved trail. Hilly in spots good views and great geology. Bathrooms at both ends at the parking lots. Weather wasn't great but the views and vistas were worth it. Signs describe old Rte 1 that was this road until replaced by the tunnels.

Nice, wide, and flat waling and bike path. Small parking lots at either end. Restroom and drinking water fountain available. Nice sea breeze, and fantstic views of the coast.

A beautiful trail for a hike, walk, or bike ride during any season. Great views of the ocean and sunset. Opportunities for bird watching. Lots of great informative and educational signs along the way. The entire trail is paved and mostly flat with restrooms on both ends.

Good spots for all three. We started at the southern end. Viewpoint station closer to the north end. Go for the views and the walk on the wide no-cars road. Bikes would be more fun to go down the hills. This was a decent walk in late Fall, but because of the open western exposure and no trees, and all the rock, would be hot in the summer. All the pavement also made it hotter, but would be smooth for wheelchairs. Lots of informative signage and viewpoints along the way. Bring snacks/drinks/pet water for a break somewhere on the road-trail. Would be a good place for a family/group to walk/ride bikes with lots of room around without vehicles and can go at their own pace.

We spent a week traveling the coast line from San Francisco to San Diego and this was one of the stops during our trip. Beautiful scenery

We visited this on a week day during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was a quick and easy drive from the city. Parking was plentiful. Visitors were wearing mask and friendly. It was a leisure hike, perfect for a short break to enjoy the sun and fresh air.

This is one of the most beautiful spots in the Bay Area, but you need to be here on a sunny day. In the fog, not so great. And then there is the legendary beach, much fun for many many years.

We liked taking a walk on the devil's slide trail. There are gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. We drove through the tunnel to get there. That is fun to do too.

Wonderful walk with the kids! WHAT A VIEW!! Met a really informative 83 year old man named Erik who knows anything and everything about the area - where sharks live, whales, etc... and was so funny! Kids enjoyed his stories! He is the unofficial docent of the trail, hope you run into him!

It’s a former highway. the surrounding cliff side is protected, as it’s always been unstable ground. if you’re looking for hiking, there are many trails nearby that are dirt and often quite flat for easy walking. I highly recommend those hikes for amazing views, for any skill level.

Devil's Slide Trail is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round including all holidays. The parking lots, however, open daily at 8:00 A.M. and close at various times depending on the time of year. The closing times for the parking lots are:
December - February 5:00 P.M.
March 6:00 P.M. (before Daylight Savings Time starts)
March 7:00 P.M. (after Daylight Savings Time starts)
April - August 8:00 P.M.
September 8:00 P.M. (through Labor Day)
September 7:00 P.M. (beginning the day after Labor Day)
October 7:00 P.M. (first week[s] of October)
October 6:00 P.M. (last three weeks of October)
November 6:00 P.M. (before Daylight Saving Time ends)
