‪Externally, this is a great place to visit if you're into history and historical architecture - the original adobe building is fascinating to walk around. Inside there are some historical displays, but they look a bit tired and could do with some cleaning up. If you're passing by, it's worth stopping in for a quick look.‬

‪This is a small old historic building of no great architectural note in a pocket park area. Some fire pits. Nothing really to see here. I did not take a tour, as it was not available when I went. ‬

‪Read about the site but saddened to learn closed the day we were in town. On a hunch, drove there anyway. Gate was unlocked to stroll the ground, burn the building was locked up. Very beautiful place, we will return. Was there on Friday after thanksgiving 2016.‬

‪This spot is wonderful for learning about how the bay area was colonized. every year, they host Adobe Days in September which is a great opportunity to learn more about California history, and do hands-on activities like making bricks, corn-husk dolls, churning butter, etc.‬

‪We very much enjoyed seeing the adobe and park at Sanchez Adobe Park. We visited mid week. There were several school children there having what looked to be a fun time seeing the place; doing various projects and having lunch.

We enjoyed seeing the movie on the history of the adobe. The one thing I found interesting is that Grizzly bears used to be in this area. It was also interesting to hear about the bull and bear fights that used to be held.

We liked seeing the exhibits at the museum, walking the grounds, seeing the Cross, and so forth. There was also a woman there who was hand making candles.

The adobe itself is a two story Spanish style adobe; which is beautiful to see.

In regards to the history,

It is a historic site. It was once the Native American Ohlone Indian village of Pruristac.

It also played a role in mission history. When Mission Dolores in San Francisco could not grow enough food, the padres used the land to grow crops in 1786.

In 1839, Don Francisco Sanchez was granted Rancho San Pedro. He and his family lived there from1842. The home is the second oldest home in the county. After his death, General Edward Kirkpatrick purchased the adobe.

It became a park in 1947.‬
