We only had time for one hike today along the creek and through the palms. The canyon end is worth the hike. There are many trails to explore!

It's amazing to be in a true desert oasis and imagine what life was like for the Cahuilla people who's ancestral home this is. There are about 2000 of California Fan Palms here in Palm Canyon and makes this the place where the largest collection of them can be found anywhere. There is a fee to enter Indian Canyons but it's totally worth it to see all this amazing natural desert beauty.

We came to Indian Canyons to hike all day and enjoy a picnic lunch. Wonderful time to see the huge palm trees, walk by small stream and be in nature. After you pay your entrance fee, follow the signs to the Trading Post and Palm Canyon. You drive your car through 2 large boulders and then up a large hill. The Trading Post
sells snack items and water at reasonable price. Plus t shirts and other gift items.
There were hummingbird feeders and plenty of hummers to watch in the morning. The hike down into the Palm Canyon is steep and rocky, down is easy but you will need to come up too!! The walk in the palms is incredible and you can go as long as you wish. Or connect to Victor trail or other trails. Most of the path is fairly well marked and you can follow the path easily. There are a few areas were we were confused on which direction to go, but we stopped to look ahead for signs or other footsteps in the ground.
The Palm Trees are huge and impressive. The rock formations were neat, plus lots of cactus and other plants. We planned on taking the Victor Trail but after going up part of Victor which was in the hot sun and zero palm trees at that time, we turned around and went further up Palm Canyon. Bit of a hike up a mountain with good views of the palm trees from higher up. We stopped when we read the sign about no cell service and Hazardous conditions.
After walking up the hill to the trading post, we drove to parking lot at Andreas Canyon for picnic lunch and afternoon hike.

It was extremely hot when we went and I didn’t find the walk through the valley of palms that interesting. The group running the area needs to clean up the palm cuttings. It is also fairly expensive given what is there to see. Perhaps walking the other trails on a cool day would be better.

Palm Canyon is one of the largest collection of Fan Palms in the world. It is an easy hike but very beautiful. Our young grand daughters had no problem hiking the canyon. The cost is under $10 per person.

No wonder these Canyon Trails are at the top of things to do: they are wonderfully interesting!
As I am not an hiker I have just spent 2/3 hours wondering along Palm Canyon but the sight is beautiful, the nature is rough and full of odours and colours and the majestic palms in the canyon are mesmerising…I am so glad I did it!
It will be something that I will have regretted for ever.

A good hike right in Palm Springs. Loved the Palm oasis that surrounds you while you walk thru the main hiking path. The more technical hikes are great, too, but try to get there early in the morning so it's not too hot. There's no shade at all when you venture up the higher trails and water is a must.

This Canyon offers activity for any given age. There's the shaded picnic area perfect for a relaxed picnic with the entire family. Then there's the walk underneath the FOREST of Palm trees for those looking for a relaxing stroll. Followed by the varies hiking options for all level hikers.
This is a true "don't miss" activity.

Astounding green luxurious colors mid desert, truly an oases of canyon backs throughout the area. We did the Indian Canyon's Road, stopped at several. We did not do any hiking here, merely enjoyed the vistas.

From the downtown area of Palm Springs, just go south on S. Palm Canyon Drive until you get to Indian Canyons- follow the signs. It's probably a 10-to-15-minute drive. I think there are brochures in town with directions, or if you have access to Google, you can get directions from wherever you are.
