Fantastic beach on beautiful, calm Tomales Bay in Point Reyes National Park, with what seems its own warm micro-climate. Great for swimming, playing and walking on the beach with a good picnic area, with BBQs and long benches available. You pay by credit card by the car, $8 or $7 for Seniors. Lovely place, and would love to return.

Lovely beach on Tomales Bay (within Point Reyes National Park) for swimming, hiking, sunning or picnicking. The beach is not that big of an area but is a pretty spot. When the Point Reyes beaches are foggy, you will find sun here! Get here early for parking next to the beach. There are picnic tables and restrooms. If you want to just picnic with a view of Tomales Bay, there is a separate area also with restrooms. Entrance fee is $8 per vehicle for general public and $7 for seniors. Only credit cards accepted.

This delightful beach has very gentle waves and shallow water for a long way out. Lots of toddlers and youngsters wading and laughing. An abundance of picnic tables with a view of beach and water which is welcoming for families. There is a normal fee ($8.00), but machine was not functioning so free for most! Good parking lot near the beach.

We had a picnic here when we first arrived in the area. It is a great place to get close to the water. Several picnic tables and good parking. If we'd been staying in the area longer we would have gone back.

Its a great beach, on a great bay. I was 18, first time. I'am much older and I love "Heart's Desire' . Good for all age's, park and its a short walk. Clean beach and bathrooms, tables . Walk the beach or just drop and have a look ! I all ways bring food !

A very pretty spot, with good bathrooms, tables and parking, but pretty small. Surrounded by woods, which add to the charm. Very calm water on the lagoon side.

The best beach on tomales bay for children to paddle. Sheltered cove location, so pretty. Take the easy hike that starts behind the restrooms for beautiful views. It takes about 20 mins (with kids) to hike around the headland to the next beach.

Beautiful beach with lots of white sand. The restroom facilities were clean and the water faucets worked.
The drive down to the beach is longer then you might expect.
Definitely worth the effort to see and enjoy.

Get to Heart's Desire Beach early if it's a weekend - the picnic tables fill up! Or, as an alternative, go later in the day (4-ish) and wait for people to leave (you might have to park in the upper lot). It's worth a bit of advance planning to take advantage of this sheltered cove and grassy lawn area on Tomales Bay.

Idyllic, dream like. Hike over the interpretative trail to Indian Beach, too. I've seen leopard sharks frolicking in the water there during mating season. Magical.

Are dogs allowed on the beach premises?

The Tomales Bay SP website states,"Dogs are not permitted on the beaches or trails." See page 470 of CA parks.gov website.
Sounds like the park is ok as long as you don't hike or go on to beach or area around the beach where birds nest. You can call to confirm.(415) 669-1140
