While visiting Old Sacramento we began to get hungry and turned to yelp to find something late on a Sunday afternoon.
We stepped into the dark interior and made our way down the narrow bar area. There were only a few people seated at the bar and only one table had patrons.
We approached the bar and even though there were two employees standing behind the bar neither one acknowledged us or made eye contact.
We were unsure if we were supposed to seat ourselves so my wife asked and the one young lady responded that we could have a seat anywhere but that orders needed to be placed at the bar. She did not offer any additional information so we asked her where we get the menus. She then handed us a few paper menus. Not a good start - we probably should have left at that point.
We sat at one of the tables and commented to each other that the experience thus far seemed very strange. The menu had basic pub fare including chicken wings and appetizers as well as sandwiches.
Between the four of us we each ordered sandwiches, French fries and fried Mac n cheese along with cocktails and beer.
Our appetizers arrived in a timely manner and looked good. Our sandwiches arrived a short time later and also looked pretty good.
Between the four of us, we had mixed reviews of our sandwiches but we all agreed the service and overall atmosphere left a lot to be desired.
Also, my wife went to use one of the two unisex restrooms and said they were nasty. She went into the first one and it appeared there was sink or toilet water all over the floor. So, she went to the other restroom and it wasn't much better.
We have absolutely no idea how this place has a rating of four. We would not recommend at all.

We have been here a couple of times, it's like a neighborhood hangout. And, happy to say the drinks are very decent.

This was a convenient and friendly stop for an end of night beer after dinner and strolling in Old Town.

Went to Sacramento, CA with a couple of friends and stopped off at the River City Saloon to try their famous Blood Mary. This was a fun place to stop off for a drink and a nice visit. Their Sasparillas are also amazing!

The title says it all. To let us come in and taste a sasparilla for 25cents at the bar was awesome. A great stop on our trip.

They make a very good spicy bloody Mary. It's definitely worth stopping in for a quick drink if you're an old town Sacramento.

Der Saloon ist der Hammer. Ein Muss für jeden der Kneipen und Saloons liebt. Hier fühlt man sich wie damals in der guten alten Zeit. Die beste Bloddy Marie der Welt. Zeit um andere Menschen kennen zu lernen. Die absolute Spitze ist Lacy. Frisch frech und locker in ihrer Art. Du kannst dir Musik wünschen die Sie dir dann spielt. Immer wieder gern. Gruß Ralf

This bar caught our eye and we decided to stop for a beer and a quick eat, two beers each and a great light lunch later, we only left because our time was limited.The server was a great guy, knowledgeable enough to talk about our home country, and give us some insight into the recent history of the bar, wanted to have a sarsparilla but unfortunately was unable to due to circumstances beyond the barmans control, he was so apologetic, and genuinely so. The food (sandwiches) was fresh and delicious, all we needed on a hot day, big thanks to the bald guy, you know who you are! Go here for a fun, Doc Holliday, tourist experience, good food,and friendly staff

Stopped on recently with coworkers while on a business trip to Sacramento. Very friendly staff, relaxing environment, and decent drinks. Good place to stop if you have a large group and you're doing a bar crawl.

Storico locale situato nella "Old Sacramento", ci siamo fermati solamente per visitarlo e bere una birra; molto cordiale il barman con il quale abbiamo anche scambiato qualche chiacchiera sul nostro viaggio e sulla nostra provenienza approfittando del fatto che il locale aveva aperto da poco e non c'era molto movimento. Arredato ancora "all'antica", bar completo, anche un biliardo; bello!
