I often travel in and out of SFO and always enjoyed the wine sampling wall at the Centurion Lounge. Before remodeling you were given a self-serving sampling card which entitles you to 4, 1oz. tastings. On my resent visit the bartendress needed to open the slot with a key, so I could taste 1 oz. of wine and then returned to the bar after each taste, all while with a very loud voice informed new customers, that if they wanted a full glass of wine, they needed to come to the bar. The food which ones was excellent is far from it and the open kitchen is gone. The worst part is the employees yelling DOOR, DOOR every time they go in and out of the kitchen. I quickly made my exit and went to the United Polaris Lounge.

A relatively uncomfortable and marginal experience overall. This used to be a nice place to spend time before a flight. It now feels very institutional. The chairs are uncomfortable, the space seems like any other low grade lounge, the food was boring and bland, and the service rules are ridiculous. For example, I could order a mimosa before 10:30a, but not a Bellini (sparkling wine with peach juice instead of orange juice). To top it all off, the lounge was a pain to get to. I will certainly look into other options next time I am at SFO as this was a long way from being a premium experience.

Came here for the first time after the expansion which saw the lounge completely closed for three months. I’m wondering what the point of the expansion was. When I arrived a little after 8am the place was busy, but half of the dining/seating area was roped off. The second buffet area and bar were not in use (no food or drinks available). The open kitchen concept is gone.despite saying it’s present on the website. The best thing seems to tbd the bigger restrooms. It would also be nice if the staff didn’t yell “DOOR!” at the top of their lungs when entering exiting the kitchen.
It does appear now that at least there are consistent opening hours.

All United lounges now suffer from too much demand due im part to United giving one time passes to credit card holders. Result is overcrowding if you can even get in. Used to be a real perk ; now a place to avoid

Hours have been really cut back and now this lounge is only open till 3:30 pm. This makes absolutely no sense given that there are large banks of flights and red-eyes after this time. Also, these hours of operation don’t match what’s on the Centurion Lounge website, which states the lounge is open till 9:00 pm.
This place gets really crowded at certain times, but that will probably change in Feb 2023 when card holder guests will be charged for entry.
Food is good, but it would be nice if there was greater variation and rotation in the menu.
Also, bar closes half hour before the lounge does so there can be a huge line up just prior to get a drink.

These lounges are victims of their own success. Overcrowded, noisy, diminishing food quality and now barely open. Remind me again why I am paying for this card? Pathetic.

First time at SFO Centurion. Waitlisted for about 10-12 minutes due to crowd (on a Sunday). Good location for United flyers. Once I got in I was guided to a seat. Food was very good with many choices. Did not try the bar. Staff was friendly.
So I don't blame the local staff for the waitlisting, this crowd issue is a something AMEX leadership must address. I don't know the answer. Centurion is simply the superior choices among airport lounges

Once upon a time, this was the apex of the lounges! Near-gourmet dining and really relaxing during legs of flights. Not so much anymore.
First off, and I totally understand about Covid and all that, but ... the wait-list exercise is miserable. No more getting to the lounge and going up. Now a person sits at the entry to the elevator and takes your cellphone info and puts you on the list. And so, we all stand around for 20-25 minutes and get a message to check in. Hurrah!
Of course we all mask-up (requirement) and go forth to explore food options. This time around, it was a really nice chicken thigh done in a tasty sauce and a bunch of interesting sides. gone are the days of chef-prepared salmon with Miso-glaze and all those delicious sides.
They (Amex people) don't need to do that anymore. We are their captive audience and they know that. Thank heaven for the corporate bean-counters! Don't they just make your day?
Fortunately, even though the plates are the size of salad-plates, you can still self-serve yourself and that does help make up for the horrible inflight food.
Wine is portioned out in 4-ounce (we think) servings. Leave a tip or not, it will not make any difference to the bar staff. In the future, I will keep my dollars in my wallet.
So, at the end of the airport miserable day, this is better than nothing and is probably better than milling about in the general boarding area but it is a far, far cry from the early days of Centurion's lounge.

Between flights, we stopped in to eat and relax. It is a madhouse down there "in the gates" and up here it is airport-heaven. Attention is given to seating distances and masks are required when moving about the lounge. It makes us all safe after all.
The meal service this time featured wonderful lemongrass chicken thighs and a range of healthy options like quinoa and wild rice dishes. There were many choices and the curry soup was exceptional.
I suspect we sometimes plan our various flights around SFO airport just to get to this Centurion lounge. It is a guilty pleasure.

Hi, the BART leaves directly from the terminal. Proceed upstairs to the car rental train and you will see signs for the BART terminal. Have a good trip.

Tv, magazines, I don't recall any video games. This lounge is much more tailored for the everyday traveller, but it's comfortable
