The Friends of the Library bookstore is still open but the main library is being totally redone to bring this county library up to contemporary, current standards. This means rewiring the building for the needs of this era.

I live in San Juan Capistrano. I'm here a lot to check out books from the new section. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Al the staff is very helpful. It has a different lay out but once you learn your way around its easy. They also have good programs open to the community.

Library is great for a variety of services. Read a book in a historic setting. Work on the internet for free every day of the week except a few holidays. Study in a wooden cubicle or by the fire. There's a large area for children.

Not sure why a public library that is there to enrich the minds of the locals, is somehow categorized as a tourist attraction...

A small library with great visual appeal. There is a puzzle room and there was an art exhibit while we were there. Worth a short visit!

THis is not really a “place to visit or tour”. It is for the locals to use as their local library however it’s really only good to pick up books you ordered on line. Much smaller than other branches. No real parking. If you are lucky and the Mission school is not in session you can use the Mission parking lot. Otherwise, no real parking to speak of. The staff is very kind and helpful, but almost anything you want has to be ordered in from another branch. V sad since in this community many of the children probably have to rely on the library as a key resource. Old out of date clunky computers too. It’s really unfair that the county wide resources are not more evenly shared.

The library is very near to the Mission (where parking is at a premium and also very limited) but the library has a nice parking lot behind it. When we were there, we shopped for books at the "Friends" shop and found excellent choices for a fraction of the cost. It is spacious and well laid out making it easy to find the selections we wanted to search through and came away with an armful of great books!

We took the Sat tour with the Friends of the Library that starts at the train station and ends at the library. The library was nice. It was cool, it had restrooms, it was organized, and best of all it had a gift shop at the end where you could buy great books for prices like $1 to $2 to $5, some a little higher. That is really nice to make reading affordable and to recycle books that could be "Priceless" to those of us who buy them. They had kids books, cookbooks, art books, and architecture books, along with the standard fare. We had to get going to another tour, so didn't stay as long as I wanted, but I was impressed. Just a short walk from the mission.

I guess we didn't know enough about architecture to appreciate this building. I would not drive out of my way.
