Wonderful surf school! My 12 year old has attended now for 2 sessions (1 in 2021 and 1 in 2022) and will be back for another session in August. Mike Sr. and Mike Jr. are absolutely the kindest individuals along with the instructors. She is looking forward to going back.

This is the second time that my daughter attended the M &M Surf camp. Both times, she had an absolute blast and learned so much. Other than the obvious surfing lessons, I wanted to point out something that I was so appreciative of as a parent. Last week, my daughter got nailed in the head by a surf board (a risk that is reasonable to expect). It was refreshing for me to learn that Mike has a hardline rule of "you get hit in the head, no more surfing regardless of how you feel." I was so relieved that there was no wiggle room in their rules. While my daughter was disappointed, as a parent I was so appreciative of them holding true to their convictions. Mike, sat with my daughter for a while discussing life, his experiences (which she was impressed with).

The fantastic instruction they provided my two daughters was amazing...very family friendly! Also the cost was very reasonable, three hours for $100 per person, that included the surf board and wetsuit!
I was also very impressed because one of my daughters has had head trauma from a concussion and was needing extra instruction, Ivan the instructor was super patient, and very encouraging... she was up and surfing halfway through the lesson!
The beach area they use is also very nice and clean. We felt safe and it also had clean public bathrooms and outdoor showers near the Sealbeach Pier. would highly recommend M and M to any person young or old.
I also want to mention not to get discouraged about the way M and M Surfing uses the online registration forms and payment system that is run through the city of Seal Beach. It can be a little bit slow in processing, it is working just a little bit slower than newer websites that are out there... the city of Seal Beach sent me a confirmation via email and that's what I ended up using to show the folks at M and M surfing that I had paid for the surf lessons.

Great surf school for my 11 year old daughter. She loves Mike the instructor. He makes the class fun

I took my boys here a while back to teach since they'd been talking about how much they wanted to surf for so long. The beach where you meet them is great and has good waves, but for shelling out $100+ dollars I was expecting more. The boards and suits they have are frankly gross especially considering all the jokes about how people pee in their wetsuits.
The instruction was fairly medicore. The problem is the class size is way too big and when everyone goes in the water with little idea of what they're doing and only a few instructors to yell at them, it just doesn't work and there's more flailing and failing than actual padding and catching waves.

Want to put on a gross wetsuit, use a beat-up board, and be one of about 25 people being told to "just get on your board and catch this"? Then this is the place for you. Honestly you'd be better off just renting a board and watching you-tube videos on how to surf because at least then you'd have been using better quality equipment and wouldn't have to endure the yelling.
Also most people in the class seemed to feel the same, so I don't know who's leaving these 5 star reviews....hmm.

I wanted to thank the entire MM surf team for making this experience so rewarding for Rachel. My wife and I failed Rachel by not taking her to the beach more often when she was younger and as a result she did not really enjoy the beach experience until now. Everyone was so supportive and encouraging. Can't recommend it enough. Thank you for working with us and exposing Rachel to a whole new experience.

That’s very pleasure to spare the time with Michael in SEAL BEACH. It’s really a great experience to learn surfing because surfing is a original method for man to fight with ocean and nature.

I came to Seal Beach from Pittsburgh, PA and have never surfed before. I decided to take a private lesson with Mike Jr. and it was awesome. We started with safety tips, stretches and what to expect and then went into the water. I was so nervous and mike made me feel so at ease and made sure I felt comfortable. I’d highly recommend this surfing school! Great guy and great school! Thanks Mike!

Mike and Mikey were absolutely amazing! They treated us like family. They have built a business that is quite obviously rooted in the value and importance of family. The entire group of instructors that they have helped to raise are a great group of young people that are not common in today’s world. This was on my “bucket list” of things to do. What a great experience!
