Fascinating place to look around under clear blue skies. Try and understand what it is like to live in a place so remote as this. Great place for a visit.

Very educational, as it describes the outback. To even get out here you need a 4wd. If going through William Creek spend some time and have a look

This tiny town has done its best to show its history.
Memorial plaques and signs to describe the various items of interest.
Be sure to bring your fly nets attached to your hats!!!

You've driven all this way across the white and red dust. Now stop! Put your fly net on; or take your fly whip with you, and just meander. There is nothing here that will WOW you or blind you with excitement, but stop and hear the whispering spirit of bone drying dust, fly bitten eyes and ears, and the harshness of blistering heat, brazen cold and endless days of hard work to scratch out an existence and long nights with only the cosmos above for companionship; and you will appreciate the momentous importance of the existence and preservation of everything saved and shared in the memorial park and museum area. Ssssshhhh! Take a moment; listen carefully; everything here has a story to whisper to you, if you just take a minute and listen with an open heart.

After haven driven for a couple of hundred kilometres from any direction through red dust and desert you are really surprised when you get to William Creek. Home of Wright Air which is owned by Terry Wright and who, by the way, owns the entire town it is really nice to see a lot of effort being put in to make this wonderful memorial park.
Located across the road from the hotel it has nice shade trees, old machinery and even the Skylark Rocket.
The war memorial with the William Creek and District Honour Roll where ANZAC Day is no doubt commemorated takes pride of place. There is also a remembrance area of the characters of the area who have made a significant impact in the outback.

“I cannot understand why you should wish to leave this beautiful country and go back to the dry, gray place you call Kansas."
"That is because you have no brains," answered the girl. "No matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live there than in any other country, be it ever so beautiful. There is no place like home." -L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
So here we are in the outback... and you have literally had to drive for miles from whatever direction you have arrived from. There is so little on the horizon that you even get excited when you see a solo cow.
There is always anticipation as you get close to any town because of the distances traveled and as you drive into Williams Creek it's understandable if you are a wee bit underwhelmed. But in this town, this is where the magic happens... you can get a beer, eat at the local pub, enjoy a real bed if you wish... those simple pleasures we often take for granted become gems.
In the middle of this town is the memorial park... full of leftovers from local history. Clearly it's where they celebrate Anzac Day. It's also a great place to finally unwind from the car and walk around. Of course, it's probably advisable if you have a fly net as well. But it's eclectic... don't expect green lush lawn under your feet... here in the outback , it's beautiful red dust. If you can bear the flies, it's a great place to sit and watch the road trains.
