A friend and I visited the new Chocolate Lab location at 3rd and Holly in Denver. It was a very rainy night, so it wasn't crowded, but we had a reservation anyway. They offer many cocktails, all of which incorporate chocolate in some way, but we decided on wine. The wine list is limited and didn't include a pinot grigio, so I went with the chardonnay because it wasn't too oakey. Heather, our server, also recommended the pinot noir, so I had a glass of that with our food.
We wanted to try several things, not just two entrees, so Heather recommended two of the appetizers: the pork belly and the nachos. Chocolate is incorporated in each dish. The pork belly (which has been featured on the Cooking Channel) was nicely done with small pieces of andouille sausage and served on polenta with andouille chocolate gravy. (They bring you a spoon so you won't miss any of the gravy!) (See photo) The nachos are amazing: pickled onions and orange slices (they do their own pickling), black beans, cotija cheese, red bean adobo dark chocolate salsa, and pico de gallo combined perfectly with the juicy pork carnitas! (See photo) Be sure to have the nachos if you go!
We didn't think we had room for any dessert, but decided to try the dessert special: pistachio bread pudding with chocolate sauce. (See photo) This was tasty, but the piece of bread was too large and very dense, and there wasn't enough sauce to go with it. We gave the feedback to Heather, and it seemed she had heard it before, so maybe they will change the serving size of the bread and add more sauce.
We want to go back and try the entrees, especially the short ribs, lasagna and fish. Mac-n-cheese, which comes without chocolate, is also on the menu, but chocolate can be added. You can also purchase pieces of chocolate truffles and other delights at the counter to take home.

Great service and delicious food. The menu has something for everyone - vegan, gluten free, beef lover, etc. The charcuterie board was a perfect starter for our group.

What a fun place! The spicy, chocolate-y aromas entice you as soon as you walk in. A cocktail menu with every drink incorporating chocolate or other intriguing ingredients. A drink that included charred cinnamon stick smoke in the glass before the cocktail was poured in! Wonderful aroma. A menu created with care, fresh ingredients, interesting sides and of course a savory chocolate element included. The short ribs were long cooked , tender and flavorful. The taco salad had a delicious spiced chicken. And of course the chocolate sampler plate for dessert. Great experience and right next to a fabulous bookstore. Exactly our kind of date night.

During the Coronavirus lockdown we have been missing good food - tonight we had Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts and impossible meatloaf from Chocolate Lab. Fabulous!!!! Gin cocktails were spectacular - hot chocolate is the best in the country. This takes the sting out of Coronavirus lockdown - thanks Phil!!!!

Just enjoyed a scrumptious lunch shared with a friend: the Pulled Pork Sandwich and their Green Beans — but wait — there’s more… the green beans are served atop a parsnip puree and topped with a whiskey molasses chocolate glaze — and wait for it…. and bacon! The Pulled Pork Sandwich features slow roasted pork for nearly 24 hours, slaw and, yep, bourbon-chocolate barbecue sauce — oh snap! Their dinner menu looks amazing as well.
Definitely top your adventure off with one of their many chocolate creations from their dessert bar — we enjoyed a few of their homemade truffles (which change all the time) — or take home one of their many different delights in ready-to-go packaging and be the hero of your household (or next dinner party). They also feature catering and private restaurant take-overs for your next party, as well as a well-known craft cocktail bar perfect for pre-gaming or after theatre drinks from the Sie FilmCenter. The appetizers were fantastic (charcuterie board, soup, and dates)! Desserts were delicious (the brownie sounded sort of boring but was phenomenal, as were the creme brûlée, and the bread pudding)! The entrees weren’t amazing, but they were good. The waitress was helpful, talked us through the menu, and never rushed us at all! The owner/chef was fantastic. He talked us through menu items both current and upcoming. He chatted about chocolate and other ingredients. The chocolates to take home were so unusual and fun! Altogether it was a fun and different experience in a casual, calm environment.

I stopped by after visiting the Tattered Cover bookstore just down the block. I can't speak to the food, because we only got drinks, which were incredible. I got a dark hot chocolate, which was to die for. My friend got a chocolate coffee drink of some sort and she seemed equally in heaven. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Will be back next time I'm in Denver for sure.

We stumbled on this restaurant because it was next-door to Denver’s excellent independent bookstore, Tattered Cover. It might sound crazy to prepare lunch and dinner dishes all using chocolate, but the team at the chocolate lab are geniuses. We had a spectacular, tasty, and definitely not sweet or cloying lunch with imaginative dishes like brussels sprouts sautéed with cocoa nibs. And of course, after your savory courses there is an entire case of truffles to choose from for dessert.

We had a pretty bad experience , what made matters even worse is it was my wife's birthday and her special occasion was ruined . I had mentioned during my phone reservation as well as few times after that about my wife's birthday and if they can help make it special for her . They had confirmed me every time that they will a cake and candle ready for her and only based on that made the reservation . Once we reached there for our dinner they didn't had any cake or candle ready for us and didn't even mention her birthday once . I felt really embarrassed in front of my wife and could see the disappointment in her eyes as I had told her we are going to a good place . The food wasn't great and the main ingredient chocolate was missing in both our dishes . Inspite of knowing it was a special occasion for us they got us seated right in front of the restrooms which was not great . Even though we can ignore everything else but the overall service and how my wife's occasion was ruined is definitely disheartening inspite of all my efforts . Please make sure you get it better for other people so they don't have to go through what we did . Thanks
