‪Our hosts suggested their local state park, Roxborough State Park, a 10-minute drive from their home. The visitors center is a good 1st stop to check in and get any information. My brother and I were completely taken in by the massive rock formations, the variations of colors within these formations and the Fall dappled colored within the flora & fauna. We walked the trails beginning to end and thereafter found ourselves in a state of bliss. Our original idea was to go to the Garden of the Gods. We are thankful for the blessings found within Roxborough State Park.‬

‪The paths, scenery and wildlife receive top marks. At every turn there are different views - especially on elevation changes.

There are easy to difficult paths allowing people to experience the desired challenges. The paths range from 2 miles (~ 3km) to as long as 6 miles (~ 9km).

The views from each path were simply amazing and allow for multiple day visits to walk different trails.‬

‪While visiting our daughter in Denver, we spent a morning at this state park. Wow! Just outside the Denver metro area, this park delivers a high quality hiking and natural experience. Get there early in the day, before parking lots fill up and trails get crowded. There are several trails, ranging from very easy to moderately strenuous. Views are truly outstanding, and exhibits cover nature and Leave No Trace outdoor ethics. No dogs allowed. On hot days, there are benches in shady areas where one can enjoy a cool and relaxing pause. At the visitor center, there are several picnic tables where one can eat and enjoy the natural ambience. The vibe is low key, active and family-friendly. If hiking, be sure to bring plenty of water, and wear hiking footwear. While hiking, stay on trails (we saw a ranger catch people who had gone off-trail to film a video). Drones not allowed. At the visitor center, you can get a brochure that explains various aspects of the natural surroundings on a particular trail (along the trail, there are signs that point out plants, trees, etc).‬

‪Just to get this in up-front, no dogs or bikes are permitted in the park. So, if that was your plan, this isn't the right park for you. Also, this park is extremely focused on leaving a minimal footprint on the environment - which is great. But that also means that there are very few parking spots in comparison with other parks of a similar size. So, if you plan to visit on a weekend or holiday, do arrive early. I arrived at 9:30am on a chilly November Saturday and the primary parking lot was already full.

OK, so now that the disclaimers are done, this park is wonderful. Some compare it to Garden of the Gods due to the red rock formations. That's pretty accurate. However, this park has maintained a much more natural environment and has done a far better job protecting the natural features of the park. Nature appreciates that. Actually, before I even arrived at the visitors center, I saw two deer mating - a first for me!

Once you get into the park, there are a good number of trails to chose from. Many are easy to moderate giving a wide number of options. I will certainly come back soon and in different seasons so see how the environment changes.‬

‪Awesome! I used to hike there with my kids. Now I hike there with my kids and grandkids. There is an easy trail/relatively short from the (very cool) nature center, or more difficult/longer trails. ‬

‪What a surprise; we were introduced to this State Park by another website and had the time to visit while we were in the Littleton (Denver) area. What A Treat !! If you have been to the Garden Of The Gods in Colorado Springs, this is equal to OR even better. We walked the 1.5-hour circle Fountain Valley loop trail; it was easy with a few inclines and rest stops. Most of it was in the sun ( not much shade), so take water and sunscreen. The price has gone up to $10, and cash is required as the CC machine is nonoperable. Enjoy.‬

‪We attended a wedding here and it was fantastic. The views were breathtaking.
they only let 100 cars in so sometimes there's a wait but the rangers went above and beyond to make sure we got in and up to where we needed to be. Had a bit of a hike in a suit which wasn't fun but they have a cart to take you part way.‬

‪It was a great place for spending three hours outside during the light winter in Colorado. The weather was great. There was some snow. We went there early afternoon. Because of short winter day in December, we had not much time, but it was enough for us. We spent over three hours walking-hiking around, using the largest loop trail.
I've loved the red rocks, their great formation and surrounding hills. There was a nice view towards the city of Denver. On grassy hills, there was a lot of deer or elk(I am not able to recognize them). Up in the sky the bald eagle was circling around.
There is a great lookout terrace in the middle of trail. You have to hike there for about 10 minutes. It's worth to do it! On our way to the terrace, we had to watch for icy trail.
I recommend this place for everyone.

Because of close to the sunset, some of the rocks were in shadow. Some of them were very red because of the sun. I am sure this spot must look great also in the morning, when the sun is on the other side of the park. In the future I have to visit this place again.‬

‪Visited this park close to Denver with a 2 year old. We had to wait 15 minutes at park entrance for a parking spot since it was Saturday but the wait was well worth the stunning beauty. Well kept, well staffed park. No pets. No climbing on rocks. PERFECT!‬

‪Peaceful, quiet, spectacular and don't have to worry about bikes and dogs. It's for wildlife and hiking - a great mixture for the outdoors.
It's a place where it is hard to take a bad photo - glad they don't allow off trail and rock climbing.
During the covid season it has been very busy - so not real quiet and peaceful.‬
