We just happened upon this winery while taking back roads through Connecticut and we’re pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, friendliness and especially the quality of the wines.
We bought a box of cheese and crackers and a flight and went on the rear deck to find both were really good. The winery has crafted a blend of local grapes with some imported to offer a great red and white that we would purchase in a minute. Give it a try and you too will be impressed with the the setting, the owners and conversation with visitors.

This lovely, relaxed winery is small and family-owned, and it shows. We got to meet the owner during our visit, and we got an interesting bit of history about the winery and the general region. They have both whites and reds (everything is delicious), and they have snacks to share to offset the alcohol in the wine. It's a gorgeous place to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery. The staff are knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the wine and the winery in general.

We just found out about it and we visited on Saturday. Very nice experience, very good wine, Marquette. The owner [Jim] came by for a few minutes and explained the history and operations. A education on how to do it correctly. We will be back.

What a nice little winery! The owners (and winemakers) are very nice people. You can tell Jim is passionate about making his wine and he also enjoys conversation with visitors. You can learn a lot about the whole process visiting in the tasting room. There is also a nice setting to enjoy a glass or bottle both indoors and out!

Walker Road offers $5 tastings for their three wines. It is off the beaten path, so to speak, but absolutely beautiful once you find it! The owners (husband and wife) run the tastings and actually live on the property. You will learn some history about the area and find out about the new deck they are planning to build this summer. Quaint stop along the CT Wine Trail.

The bar was in a renovated barn, but the ambience was pleasant and quaint. The vintners (a husband and wife team, I believe) won several awards from reputable competitions for their wines. The pours were generous, but you only got three tastes for $5 (with a souvenir glass). The “Gertrude’s Garden” was smooth, melony, and peachy; the red was fruity and easy to drink with a smooth finish; the table red was smooth and heavy with hints of pepper and cigar but was not overbearing. Overall, the wines were complex and delicious. It doesn't look like much, but this is definitely worth a visit. (Parking can be an issue, as the place does not accommodate a large number of patrons.)

Walker Road vineyard is part of the Passport to Connecticut Farm Wineries and stands out as one of the best vineyards after visiting 12 others in CT. The cozy tasting room is in a 150 year old barn and has beautiful decor and a separate air conditioned room. Owners were on premises pouring generously both their red and white wine. And yes - they only have two wines; both of which are excellent.
The owners were very knowledgeable and friendly and we truly enjoyed the story how they ended up in Connecticut.
The vineyard also has outdoor seating overlooking the vines and the beautiful renovated red barn.

Small but the owners were great. Good wine talked about the history of the barn. They only have 2 wines 1 red and 1 white both were enjoyable, I bought a bottle of each. I would go back.

First time at this vineyard. The owners were pleasant and very knowledgeable. It is a very small operation. The barn where the tastings are held is nice, and there is an area on the other side of the small vineyard area with tables for picnics or just enjoying a bottle of wine. We were going to another winery, so didn't take advantage of the table area, but plan to return and do so. Only concern is that the tables are very close to a busy local road. The white wine has a nice bouquet and interesting taste. The red is solid. We will visit again.

Hi Diana,
No appointment is necessary. The website is walkerroadvineyards (TripAdvisor does not allow web links to be posted). The hours may change seasonally or yearly, so check their website. This is a tiny winery: they may even be closed on a particular weekend, so you may want to call before you make a special trip.
