We reserved both Glamping and Tent sites. YOU ARE BETTER OFF with a tent site. Glamping sites do not keep you dry. We had a big storm come through and our bags and items got soaked as the decking that they build for the flooring is not a proper floor. it allows the rain to roll onto the decking slats and soak the interior of the tent.
you are better off renting a tent space or an RV. glamping is definitely not worth the $100 / night - bugs can get through the floor board. get a tent / forget the glamping in this park!

We've seen springs all over Florida, but Manatee Springs is especially beautiful. This is a rare gem that so many don't know about on the Nature coast. Water is always ice cold, even in the summer. A good amount of room to spread out and was completely empty the day we went, even though it was 4th of July weekend. Water is crystal clear, not much shallow area for children here. Alexander Springs would be a better choice for families with children.

The boardwalk is undergoing repairs. Currently there is no access from the Suwanee River side. You can rent kayaks and canoes or bring your own. There is a beautiful clear water live spring set in a shaded woody wetland area to swim in. If you are lucky the Manitee will swim with you!
Playground. Park area. Picnic tables and grills. Two areas of campground. Magnolia loop seems better taken care of than the Hickory camp loop. Glamping is also available.

We did the glamping experience and stayed two nights at the campground. It was quiet and comfortable staying in the tents (we took two- one for me and my husband and one for my teenaged sons). Not having to worry about tent set up and having coffee on hand were huge plusses and we still had fun cooking over a campfire. The tents were heated, but on our first night the temperature was in the 30's, and it was still pretty chilly in the tent outside of the blankets. I would recommend warm pajamas for winter camping! The bathrooms were okay. We saw so much wildlife during our stay: tame deer visited our campsite, lizards and birds were everywhere, and we saw armadillos at night. We also heard a coyote pack at night and a raccoon got into our recycling that we had forgotten to put in our car. I heard a cat yowling, too, but whether it was domestic or a bobcat I don't know.
As far activities go, there was plenty to do. One purpose for the trip was for my sons to try fishing, but the website didn't make it clear that with the boardwalk closed there really isn't much of a place to fish from shore. My son rented a canoe and went out, and we drove over to Cedar Key one afternoon to scratch his fishing itch, so it wasn't a big deal, but don't expect plentiful fishing if you're going for that. We came for the manatees and we were able to see plenty, but they weren't visible from the park shore- we had to kayak/canoe out to them. The rangers seemed to think they were on their way back to the ocean, so after mid-February expect to maybe not see them if you're going in the near future, and don't expect to be able to see them at all without paddling to them. We did some hiking on the trails, but didn't see as much as we could have. The staff was friendly and helpful for rentals, getting ice cream, questions, etc..
We brought our two small dogs on this trip which made things a little less convenient. They aren't allowed right be the springs edge, but close by, so we were able to take turns holding them while we viewed the springs. Due to there being alligators, we decided not to have them in the kayaks with us, so we switched off for that activity as well. I saw one woman there who was disappointed she couldn't do/see more since she was there by herself and her dog limited some of what she could see/do.

Nice campsite, a bit of a hike to the water. Lots of trees, leaving not much sun coverage at the water. Restrooms at the campsite were nice!!!

So much to see here besides for the wild manatee. They have a wonderful zoo with a variety of wildlife and an old hippo named Lu who is beyond cute!

Stayed three nights in the glamping tent. It was fun although the bed was uncomfortable. Saw lots of wildlife but to early to see the manatee. Kayaking was fun.

We swam in the spring, very cool and refreshing. Lovely area. Don't expect manatees in the summer, only in the winter!
Very clean park!
Camping available, but we just visited for the day.

7/05/2023 easy to find, beautiful park, quick check in, big river! Saw fish, aligators, turtles. Enjoy the very refreshingly cold spring basin afterwards. Manatees only during cold weather😉

Can you snorkel with the manatees staying a distance not to interfere with the manatees ?
كُتب بتاريخ 30 نوفمبر 2023
Staying at the campground in November. Is it possible to swim with or kayak near the manatees at or near the park? Thank you!
كُتب بتاريخ 12 نوفمبر 2020
You can kayak, swim, and snorkel in the springs. Since we've had a warm start to November you might not see any Manatee there depending on the cold weather. Crystal River is the best place to swim with them but even then it needs to be cold in the surrounding waters so that the manatee come into the warm springs. We usually go to Crystal River to see them in January and February.

I will be staying at this campground with my husband and three 11 year old children for spring break week in March 2020. Does anyone have suggestions for day trips or attractions close by if the kids needs some commercialization LOL, ie. coffee shops/restaurants/ocean beach/ zoo or petting zoo in driving distance? I'm not familiar with this area of Florida but I have found the kids enjoy a quick camping break with a ride into a town for a nice meal or ice cream or some other amusement.
Also, how is mid-late March for swimming in the spring and for animal viewing?
كُتب بتاريخ 9 يونيو 2019
Take a 30 minute ride down to Cedar Key and take in the shops or go for a boat ride. There are plenty of restaurants there too. Weather is a little cool for swimming but some people brave the cool water at 68 degrees or so. The days can get quite warm but the evenings are back down in the 50’s. Fishing is great in the area as well as viewing the manatees in the park which has as wooden walkway to the Suwannee River. Lots of deer and wildlife to view too. You
Can rent canoes at the park and the springs are crystal clear. Snack shop there also.

Just trying to find information before our visit. Is the RV park crowded at this time of the year?
كُتب بتاريخ 26 مايو 2019
I recommend you call the park. They are great people and are very helpful. Go online to reserve America and you can see how crowded the park is.
كُتب بتاريخ 27 مايو 2019
This is a state park, once you pay to enter the Park (which is $4 per person I believe, I use a park pass so I don't pay for entrance every time.) You can visit the Springs. During the winter months the manatee's congregate there for the warmer water. If there are manatee's you will be able to watch them, swimming is allowed but you may not approach them.
كُتب بتاريخ 4 فبراير 2019
Yes they are allowed. Must be on leash at all times.
كُتب بتاريخ 6 يناير 2019
What is the cost of scuba diving the state park? Do they have the gear to rent?
كُتب بتاريخ 13 ديسمبر 2018
There is no specific cost for diving at the park. Once you pay your entrance fee you must register as a diver and must register in buddy teams or pears. During the winter months when Manatee inhabit the area for the warmer water they do restrict entrance into the water. And they do have a limit on how many active diver they allow in the water at any one time. If you are camping at the park you must register each morning for diving and when your diving is completed You must check with the ranger and then repeat the process for the next day. the park has some wonderful campsites and it is a beautiful place.
كُتب بتاريخ 4 فبراير 2019
Which campsite is closest to the swimming area?
كُتب بتاريخ 10 يونيو 2018
Magnolia 2 is the closest, not that far of a walk.
