My daughter ad I took the guided tour to celebrate her birthday. It was a super special experience with the kind and knowledgeable guidance of Matt and Sue. We saw many birds and water foul, manatees and playful otters. I highly recommend it to kayakers of all ages. Matt and Sue are terrific hosts. Low key but brimming with knowledge about the waterways and creatures that inhabit them. I will definitely do more trips with them.

Three of us took this tour. Great experience. Matt and Sue are extremely knowledgeable about the area and made it a fun, learning paddle. Will definitely go on another of their tours.

At 70 years old I was not sure that I had the stamina to pull of Kayaking. I had hoped for a public class, but I'm glad I did it as a private one. Susan was very accommodating and made sure the boat I got was similar to what I would consider buying. Matt taught the class. He's really good at it and he's the kind of guy you could have lunch or drinks with and really enjoy yourself. We went over strokes and did some practice with them. We paddled up the shoreline and got enough distance in that I'm sure I can handle it. I even got 20 minutes of cardio out of it. I am shopping for my yak right now, and after a trip or 2 of practice, I want to take a tour... probably the Chaz.

We had a family group of seven, ages 9 to 78. Matt and Sue were terrific. The wildlife cooperated but Matt not only knows where to look but is knowledgeable about wildlife and the area. He knows many of the manatee by their identifying scars. He and Sue are also sensitive to conditions so that you have the best possible experience.

I did the kid friendly kayak tour to see manatees in the Chassahowitzka River with Aardvark this January and it was a truly amazing experience! I went with my sister, my mom and 2 year old niece. Sue and Matt were outstanding guides that showed a lot of knowledge and commitment to the conservation of manatees and their environment. In fact, one of the reasons that made us choose Aardvark's tour was the concern they showed regarding the animals' well being during the email exchange before booking and the fact that they donate a percentage to Save the Manatee Club.
We had already done a kayak tour in Crystal River with another company a couple of years ago at Kings Bay, however this was a totally different experience. While Kings Bay is still a nice place, there you are surrounded by houses. On a completely different landscape, the Chassahowitzka is a beautiful and wild environment, without any development around. Besides more than 20 manatees we also saw pelicans, woodstorks, anhingas and great blue herons. Sue and Matt were also very thoughtful of my 2 year old niece, doing their best to better accommodate our needs with a toddler.
I would definitely recommend the kayak tour with Aardvark at the Chassahowitzka!

We did their Chassahowitzka River Eco Tour. What a great time. Matt and Sue are a wealth of knowledge and passion regarding the river and it’s wildlife. We saw a great variety of birds including limpkins and bald eagles 🦅, a small alligator, turtles and the gentle giants the manatee. You won’t be disappointed go out and book a tour!

I have learned a lot from Matt and Susan over the years, not only about how to kayak but also how many wonderful places there are here in Coastal and Central Florida. I've gone on beautiful sunny days and chilly rainy days, and enjoyed every trip because there are always birds, turtles, manatees and alligators, as well as a wide variety of vegetation. Matt always provides historical and current information and answers questions thoroughly. And Susan always makes one feel comfortable because she ensures no one is left behind!
Good directions and information about parking are provided. Some launch sites have free parking, some don't, Flotation devices are provided that fit well, and safety rules include keeping the flotation device on! A wide variety of comfortable, well maintained kayaks are available.
As a full time resident of this area, I have found the books authored by Matt about kayaking, fishing or hiking in this area very well illustrated and educational.

This is a fabulous company! The lessons are very exacting and careful. We saw so much of the area, so many living things. I learned a lot.

Very good tour. Matt and Susan are a wealth of information about the ecology of the area and all sorts of other things about this part of Florida. We saw dolphins up close, a manatee, and lots and lots of birds. As a biologist myself, I appreciate Matt's deep knowledge of the Ozello Keys area and its fascinating ecosystem. If you go on the tour, be sure to stick close to Matt (or Susan) and listen to everything they have to say as you paddle along............you will learn a lot!

This being my first time in a kayak, first time seeing manatees, I can't say enough "good" about Aardvark Florida Kayak Company.
If you want to experience it all, bypass the tourist-traps in and about Homasassa Springs, and connect with Aardvark. Their 3-hour manatee tour will take you directly to God's country. Book online, receive a quick confirmation with loads of information to prepare for the trip. And, if you have any question, call ahead and Sue will provide more answers than you can jot down.
Don't let cold-fronts with dips in temps cause you to cancel. We went out in the water when a major cold front hit Florida and the morning temps were 38 degrees. Tempted to cancel but we didn't and it was the best decision we ever made! With the air cool and crisp, the spring-fed river felt like bathwater. When the sun broke through, it was just the warmth needed as we paddled down the river. We were greeted by such a variety of migratory birds, I almost forgot we had come to see manatees. And manatees? Yes, they were there -- just waiting for us. The best part of this tour is that Sue and Matt have more than 55 years combined of knowing Florida. Matt is a marine biologist and Sue worked as a park ranger. Both have so much knowledge that not only will you discover the beauty of Florida but you'll learn so much.
Don't be afraid to kayak. You will be in good hands under the guidance of Aardvark. I'm 66 and my companion was 70. My only regret is that I took my junk camera rather than my good camera because I was afraid I'd tip and ruin it. This river is so calm and tranquil that I will be returning with the new camera so I can capture it all again. The wildlife and birds seen along this adventure is like waking up in the middle of a National Geographic magazine! I definitely plan to return and when I do, it's Aardvark.

Depending on the tour (I like our backcountry tour) you can often see dolphins, eagles, osprey, tutrles, mullet, alligators in some areas, roseatte spoonbills, and wading birds of all types.
Paddling boarding or kayaking on the Rainbow River is fun during the week is you like to swim and paddle. If you want a place few people, go for the St. Martins Backcountry tour.
