That’s off the beaten path ZHU is family owned and operated I found myself surrounded by truly loving and caring people who through respect love and integrity educate their local community and visitors to the beauty of these animals in their care.
Recently this zoo and others have come under attack by animal extremist organizations but in my visits I did not see any bad experiences and it was very clear that the care given to these animals is amazing and the accusations are unfounded!

This place is just for profit do people can get selfies with animals. Cubs are taken away from their mothers. They get dragged back into the pool to entertain the visitors. This is not for the animals benefit at all it is only for humans selfish pleasure.

Nice place, were mislead as there was nothing but encounters going on, we got an otter encounter from our kids as a present and that part was great.
Called the day before and asked if they were open and talked about our interest in the safari excursion also. No safari running when we got there.
We went as a family and if you did not go on an encounter, you have to pay $20 a person to watch, or go sit in your car, which can not be on the property. So you would have to get in your car and drive out the gate, after complaining they allowed them to watch. All this and we drove over an hour to get there for a 30 min encounter, more of a joke than an attraction.

I went on a trip last month as my son wanted to do the otter swim, being from outside the country we went not knowing the history of this place and were horrified by what we saw.
When we came back we did a little research and feel terrible about giving this place any money. Fr4ud charges and animal ab*se investigations to name a few.
Recently two tigers were rescued and I hope in time all the animals kept here can be transferred to actual rescue facilities.
This is a house with exotic animals caged in the back garden

We visited this place Feb. 2020! If you go to this place in my opinion you are helping and supporting animal abuse. I'm completely disgusted and sick to my stomach that I gave this place any money! I have never felt so strongly about a situation in my life. The animals are kept in SMALL, dirty, deplorable conditions. Some of the animals you can't even see because you have to stay on tram and the enclosure is so far away. Half way through the tour ( a beat down tram pulled by a jeep) I was sick to my stomach and overly depressed by what I was seeing. Even my 10 year old looked at me and said this is sad. You are also no allowed to take video or pictures. They also offer encounters to hold or swim with animals such as baby tigers, sloths, otters. The animals did not act like they wanted to swim or be held. We decided not to go forward after noticing the animals seemingly in distress. I would not recommend this place feom my firat hand experience!

I have been to Dade City Wild Things several, times and each time it hasn't disappointed. The animals are well cared for and very friendly. The owners and staff are wonderful people and very knowledgeable about all the animals in their care. It is a wonderful place for children and adults alike. And if you like to get close and personal with animals it is the best place ever. Don't believe the negative reviews on here i think they are animal Activists who have nothing better to do. I would recommend Dade City Wild Things to anyone

I’ve written a lot of reviews over the years but never felt so conflicted on one until now. We went to dade city wildlife in dade city Florida for my bday. I had read the reviews and didn’t know what to think. Typically when reading reviews I ignore the horrible reviews and the raving reviews and figure middle ground is about where it’s at. Unfort with this place there are no middle ground. They get 1 or 5. So there are def pros and cons. I
Felt like the experiences were total 5s. If I had just done that I woulda been 5 all the way but the tour and research on the place left me questioning the whole thing...so I’m gonna give it all to ya.
My husband surprised me for my bday with an animal encounter. The tour is included when you get one
Here are my 5s that made the experience awesome:
The animals are so stinking cute.
When else are you going to get the opportunity to do this!?!
They gave you ample time with the animals and even took group pics. So for ex I interacted with a skunk and my husband picked a servil and he got to get in my pic and pet the skunk and vice versa
Staff was very friendly
The people at the place seemed very knowledgeable about the
Animals
Never did they force an animal to interact.
The pic packet was awesome. We got 121 pics for 25.00
No animals LOOKED sick or mistreated as much as the untrained eye can tell
At least some are rescued (the skunk
I held was a pet that owner couldn’t take care of)
Now for the 0-1:
You pull up to the place and it’s a house!? I joked to my husband that the golden girls might appear from the porch. It’s in the middle of a neighborhood. There’s a couple of homemade signs
The yard and tour was very strewn and unkept. Honestly it looked like a junk yard where they made a path for the tram and threw some cages in there
The Jeep and tram were beat up and the speaker kept going in and out when the guy was talking. We sat in the next to last car (bc we read about the exhaust) and only got a whiff from time to time but I imagine the people up front were not enjoying it
The cages were on the small(er) side and they were all muddy and had a few balls thrown in (I
Imagine that came from reviews about the lack of enrichment)
No
Pics were allowed on the tour. To me that just seems shady. I get not during the encounters bc all your reasons sticks—distracts animals, distracts people and hey they want people to buy the photo package—but I don’t get that on the tour. Unless there’s something they are trying to hide
Research on the place shows shady business practices and activities.
I asked if all animals were rescued but
Was told they had different stories. Not all animals are rescued. Some are “gotten” from other places (guessing they
Buy or trade animals as needed?)
Money has been spent on this place so the best I can hope for is their bad choices are in the past and they are just sloppy zoo keepers but really do care about the animals. I honestly don’t know if I would go back though seeing what I saw on the tour and reading about their legal issues

Myself and my boyfriend visited here in Sept 2019 and was pleasantly surprised by how great our visit was despite the negative reviews. If you are looking for a polished, big "zoo" then this isn't the place for you. It is a small, family run type of animal park but was a great experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and informative about the animals and we had plenty of time with the animals we chose to feed/pet. We paid $25 for the photo package and received over 150 photos which were all brilliant.

How do you live with yourselves? Abusing animals like you do should be a federal crime. You are disgusting people.

I was wondering the same thing, but every review I have wrote so far is getting rejected. Better yet how do people go there and not realize its animal abuse? Its sick!
What is the admission price?

How are they able to keep tigers again after receiving a ban on doing so, in March of this year? And why do people still support an industry that doesn't respect an animal's natural behaviour. Tigers on a leash? Come on!

I don't work for them so I do not have the answer, but you should search 'dade city wild things abuse' for recent articles. They have been in a considerable amount of trouble. They should be closed down by now, but if not, best not to visit in my opinion.

How do you always have baby tigers? Where do they come from and what do you do with them after they are out of phase three ?

Unfortunately I am sad to say that I just finished seeing a video on how they obtain their baby tigers.. They take them from their moms and force them to swim and interact with people during these "experiences". I am very angry that I actually visited a place like this and now fully understand why they do not allow cameras, videos or pictures of any kind (which I mentioned in my review). If you want to learn more you can google: "Wild Things Peta" There is a video showing how awful it is.

My younger brother is a paraplegic...he is paralyzed from the nipple area down. He has always wanted to touch a baby tiger. Is there private encounter area handicap accessible? Would want a private encounter vs a group encounter so he could have more 1 on 1 time.

Are pictures not allowed?
Mymzee
تامبا, فلوريدا40 مساهمة
They do not allow pictures because of the treatment to their animals and unnatural habitats for them.. All of the animals are all very anxious and in metal cages.. while we were there a lion peed toward us as she paced back and forth in her metal and concrete cage, a zebra WHO WAS ALL ALONE ran back and forth trying to stay with our tour train and when we left tried to get out so frantically that she almost got her head stuck in the fence. And just yesterday I saw a terrible video on how they steal the baby tigers from their moms and those are the ones that they have interact in the pool and in the petting experiences. You can google: "Wild Things Peta" and see for yourself. All of these reasons are why I now understand the reason behind not allowing guests to video or take pictures. The staff is always watching yelling at everyone "No pictures" My advise.. go somewhere else.
