‪A great place to learn a bit about old al- Hamra's way of living‬

‪A well-worth an hour of your time. This house is nicely restored and maintained, and together with the explanation and positive attitude of the in-house guides and locals who demonstrate - you end up learning quite a bit. Look at the amazing decoration of the ceilings - the painted palm tree trunks. Recommended.‬

‪Sehr informatives und eindrucksvolles Museum mit gutem Einblick in das Alltagsleben der Omanis, sehr empfehlenswert!‬

‪Eindrucksvolles Museum, in dem man das Lebe der Omanis sehr authentisch erfahren kann. Gute Führung durch das mehrstöckige Haus. Zum Abschluss wurde gezeigt, wie die Frauen Mehl mahlen, Kaffee rösten, Öl und Brot zubereiten. Spannend und authentisch!‬

‪Great Stop: Don’t miss‬

‪We really enjoyed visiting this old house and watching the demonstrations of home arts and cooking. Our guide was Ibrahim who was very friendly and gave full explanations of everything in the house. Ibrahim was open to any and all questions which helped us learn a lot about culture and home life within the house.

You are able to visit virtually every room in the home and at the top level you can have great views of the old city as it was built with mud.

This is a stopped you should definitely add to your tour!‬

‪Located in the old and "phantom-like" Al Hamra village stood this 400 year old building, which houses a typical Omani household. Under the guidance of our guide we sat at the huge gathering room to be served Omani coffee, the traditional way (including the appropriate gestures to accept or refuse a second cup). After having strolled around the numerous rooms we watched three of the household ladies producing juniper oil and making Omani bread. It was definitely a special experience.‬

‪Cooles und interessantes Dorf‬

‪Das Museum ist sehr spannend, man bekommt für den Eintrittspreis auch eine Führung und kann verschiedene Dinge ausprobieren. Das Haus ist sehr gut erhalten und man erfährt immer wieder neues. Ich gehe immer wieder gerne dahin! Vielen Dank an alle Mitarbeitenden! Ausserdem lohnt sich auch ein Spaziergang durch das verfallene Dorf. Einzig der Weg zum Hotel ist etwas schwierig zu finden.‬

‪Ein sehr interessantes Museum, auch für Kinder‬

‪Das Lehmdorf und vor allem das Lehmmuseum ist ein Besuch wert. Unser Guide hat uns dieses Museum gezeigt und unsere 10 jährige Tochter war ebenfalls begeistert. Es ist sehr authentisch und wunderschön gebaut und vieles wird vorgezeigt vor Ort. Auch sehr interessant waren die Vorführungen wie man Brot herstellt und die Kleider, welche man probieren kann. Ein grosses Lob an dieses schöne Museum!!‬

‪Interesting but limited‬

‪This has the potential to be a very interesting cultural experience. Unfortunately, when I went, there was no one working except for one attendant, so much of the experience was lost, and that is the largest factor is my rating. One other item I’d note is that the parking, such as it is, is not well marked and, given all of the renovation going on in the neighborhood, makes it feel very precarious to leave a car anywhere.‬
