While wintering in Fernandina Beach we love walking downtown with so beautiful shops and restaurants. The marine has a restaurant that is also very good. The entire Fernandina Beach community with its library, beaches, restaurants, resorts, and golf courses all make our time perfect.

The town is charming with assorted shops and great restaurants. The beaches are very good and parking and facilities are better than most. It is easy to get around, parking was easily found, and the people are friendly and helpful. Locals are very willing to offer suggestions or name their favorites. We had wonderful dining. The island seems very safe and trouble-free. We are looking forward to a return visit.

Best of class old Florida with exquisite dining or casual fair. Pleasant people, Sunsets, Boating, Fishing, Beaches and adventure. Treasures include Fort Clinch and Bone Yard Beach

Fernandina Beach is a Small beautiful Town on the North end of Amelia Island Florida. Down town is on the Marsh (marina) side of the island. The beach side is about 2 miles East. We have visited every part of the Georgia and Florida coasts. Amelia Island was so special.. It's an Island that is made up of Amazingly friendly people, Moss covered trees, Tall Palms, great weather all year (January and February will be around 70-75 degrees), fine restaurants, bordered by the most beautiful Florida State parks (Amelia Island State park, with views you will never forget, Big Talbot and Little Talbot State parks, which are 100% nature preserves).
It has preserved it's "Southern" roots as well. The beaches are never crowded, in fact, most of the time, the beaches are sparsely populated. To the North of Amelia is Cumberland Island GA. If you want to cap off your Amelia Trip, go to Cumberland Island. The Ferry leaves from St. Marys Georgia. Amelia Island is a magical place.. NOT South Florida, NOT Orlando... NOT Tampa. Amelia is what Florida should be, Warm, clean, beautiful and relaxing. We are hoping to live there someday soon.

Cutest, most vibrant town I have visited in a long while. Active, but not crowded. Virtually every storefront is occupied which can be unusual in small towns. MANY historic buildings remain.

Visited here in the midst of a June heat wave. Well-maintained beach, professional lifeguard detail, sparkling waters, user-friendly parking options, and ample restaurant choices took the edge off an otherwise hellacious day. Especially appreciated were the shaded shelters over portions of the boardwalk, which combined with the breeze offered some much-needed restorative natural air conditioning. A nerve-soothing mellow vibe abounded, presenting an interesting contrast to the cheerfully dissolute but sometimes frantic atmosphere in Key West, at the opposite end of the Sunshine State.

We're travel to Amelia Island for first time with our grandson, 7 years old and we have a fantastic time. We're taken a Cumberland Island trip on boat and our grandson was so happy. After we're walking to the town, ate ice cream and finished in the beach. Later on we're spend 2 nights in Amelia Island Inn front the beach and 1 night in Omni Resort, beautiful, beautiful resort, many amenities for kids. Overall, we have a fantastic days. Definetly we're going back again.

Did a day tip early June and definitely wish I had more time to spend there. The beach was beautiful, shops were fun. Definitely explore more next time.

The hotel staff was on top of their game! I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the food. I can't express just how over the top the service was throughout the hotel.

Planning one full day here as stopover en route to Disney with 6yo and 3yo grandkids. Where is the best place to get on the beach and what are must dos for that one day? Mostly kids just want to splash in the ocean, I expect.

There are plenty of places to access the beach. There are a lot of public access points. Some with parking. As for things to do , we really enjoyed the carriage tour through the downtown area. They give a lot of interesting facts about the older homes and if you like, they will even throw in some ghost stories. Nothing too scary. We used old towns carriages. You will probably need to call ahead of time to see if you can fit it into your schedule.
Do this beach have alot of rocks in the water?” are they alot of seaweed there? How clear/blue is the water?”

Rocks were not a problem neither was seaweed. The color however is not as blue as south Florida like Miami.

I have encountered seaweed when fishing from shore but only when a very strong wind blows from the east.

depends on how the sun hits. when its dark its a dark blue, when its sunny its more greenish.
Is alcohol allowed on the beach?
You can not take any type of glass to the beach. You are not supposed to have alcohol on the beach, however, people do. I take a cooler with cans and discretely pour into a solo cup and have not had any problems. The beach is miles long and is patrolled with officers on ATV's. They typically don't bother you unless you are playing music too loud or making a scene.
