A must do in St. Augustine, this is a great activity for the family.
From the Discovery Center which was state of the art when created to the planetarium to live demonstrations...our family loved our time here. It is enjoyable and educational all for a reasonable price.
You learn about the establishment of the first European city in the United States, their interactions with the Natives who were already here, and you can take a swig from the "Fountain" a natural spring that provided fresh water to the population
There are also beautiful peacocks everywhere which provide their own entertainment for the onlookers.
A great family destination.

Of course, the favorite part was getting to take a drink from the Fountain of Youth! Hoping it works! We thought that the actual Fountain of Youth would be outside, but it was inside with some historical scenes around it. There are lots and lots of peacocks roaming around the grounds.

I was a little hesitant to go here but it was a really good and educational experience. It's a beautiful site and there a lot of interpreters doing living history demonstrations. Be sure and visit while in St. Augustine.

Our family visited The Fountain of Youth for the first time. We absolutely loved it here. My 7 year old got to meet a real Native American, "Tall Bear" and was so excited. Tall Bear was very pleasant to listen to and filled my 7 year old son with knowledge about his heritage and upbringing. He even gave my son a gift and showed him how Native Americans give gifts with their left hand and it is accepted from the left hand because it is closest to the heart. We could have spent all day listening to him.

This is a fun attraction with demonstrations of artisans, weapon firing, and native American life. There are recreated period buildings, some original canon, a planetarium and a giant globe used to illustrate the explores travels. Many peacocks and of course you can drink from the Fountain of Youth, don't expect it to work though.

When first approaching the entry gates, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. The property is vast with a lot of history covered besides just the “fountain of youth”. Our favorite feature were the peacocks wandering the property and displaying their beauty for everyone to enjoy.

This was one of the last stops on our hop on/hop off trolley tour. You can drink the water at the fountain (no, it doesn't taste good), there is a BBQ place to eat at, plus the grounds are large and you can walk around with the peacocks and see many different archaeological sites. Plus, the street as you enter the Fountain of Youth is very pretty with the mossy oak trees. Interesting history here. Good for young and older people.

We were there with a school trip. The kids especially liked the "forge" area where the blacksmith talked and demonstrated how to forge metal. The native american village was also great because of the historical presentation given!!

We arrived at 11:30 after walking from our hotel. You must see Magnolia Street
The main street leading to the park. The trolley also goes by. The peacocks,fountain cannon blasts, blacksmith and guides all made for a memorable visit. We saw Everything we wanted in 1 to 2 hours.There is a great sushi restaurant across the main street that had lunch special for under $12.

We went here mostly because traveling with 2 dogs this place is very dog friendly. It was a cloudy day and thought we would just pass the morning here. Wrong. We loved it. They had 2 movie presentations that were some of the best we've ever seen.so much history here. Do not miss this place. We even stayed for lunch at their bq inspired stand. Beef brisket!!!!

Yes but be aware of the cannon shootings which tend to scare a lot of dogs!
Is the park open all year round?
Yes, we are open year round. The only day we are closed is Christmas Day.

How long it takes to visit in average?
We suggest 2.5 hours...many people stay longer...and you can see some shows in less time.

Can I buy little bottles to fill at the fountain as gifts or can I bring my own

Yes, as the fountain is inside the park. The admission is $15 per adult ,$14 per senior ages 60 or over, and $9 per child ages 6 to 12.

About how much time should I set aside to visit the fountain of youth. I would like to see the planetarium and the large globe exhibit.

Three to four hours if you are going to walk around outside and see what is there as well. There are permanent live demo areas that have times every 20 to 30 min. so you would want to catch that as well...like cannon firing and explanation...blacksmith shop, gun demo., seeing or running down a peacock to get a pick, the boardwalk and looking at the large massive trees and views of the water.

I would like to plan a trip for my local Multiple Sclerosis Support Group as they have expressed an interest in going. There are a few who require the use of a motorized scooter and some that need to use a walker. Is this attraction fully handicapped accessible?

We do have many paved pathways, but do also have a few that are still sand and some that are mulch. There are some areas that would be difficult with a scooter or walker.
