This family owned museum has so many treasures inside and outside. If you are interested in Arabic and Asian architure and accessories, then you definitely need to visit this amazing 2 story museum. There are no elevators. I tried to pick the best photos that I could but there is so much there to photograph that you will just need to visit to see it all for yourself.
The audio tours average between 45 and 60 minutes depending on the pace that you are comfortable with. Touring the Villa Zorayda Museum requires standing and walking for the length of your visit. Limited seating is available in certain areas. The tickets are $15 with a discount for seniors. The family members,are there to answer any questions.
There is parking nearby. This place is located across from the Lightner Museum. Make this a priority if you love all things Arabic and Asian.

This villa has all sorts of treasures from the Middle East and North Africa. The Court of Lions looks like a room out of Morocco. The harem room is all in blues and is very colorful. In room 10 is a treasure from Egypt. In one room are dishes from the former hotel Zagoryda. You get a self guided audio tour with admission.

The Grand Gilded Age mansion, Villa Zorayda, is a beautiful home to the extensive antique collection from the original owner, Franklin W. Smith, and the Villa's second owner Abraham S. Mussallem, a collector of Egyptian antiquities, oriental rugs and antique furnishings. The magnificent architecture of the Alhambra Palace in Granada was an inspiration for the Villa’s architectural style. Its exquisite collection is massive - various priceless pieces of Moorish decorative art, furniture, lamps, textiles, tiles and what not! Highly recommend to see this treasure of a collection and use the audio guide.

What a wonderful and unusual museum/house. I saw lots of interesting and different things. It's a nice audio tour so you can go at your own pace.

A very interesting step back in time to see some St Augustine history through the eyes of one family's home. Fascinating architecture inspired by Spain, many artifacts from around the world. It's a great place to escape the oppressive summer heat while taking the tour at your own pace with the recorded audio. (free with tour) The most interesting piece is in the Egyptian Room (no photography allowed), listed in the Atlas Obscura

Really interesting museum. The audio tour gave the right amount of info and you could stop/pause it to read the signs in the various rooms.

Yes, this place has genuine artifacts and hopefully the owners make a generous donation to the descendants of the original occupants who had to flee their home or be murdered. Obviously, those descendants would be the people w/Berber flair who wear crescent medallions and who never surrendered, Seminoles. The probability of Frank Smith building this during a time of back to back wars while he was incarcerated and dealing with court against the U. S. Navy. Back to back wars and shortage on materials, funds not to mention the talented builders who must have been knowledgeable in Islamic architecture which had religious meanings in the details and precise measurements that the uneducated men living in the new United States had no clue of as this culture is still absent from academic texts and falsely villianized to hide their dirty little secrets. I'm sure Egypt would like the tapestry of a feline back because no one in this country should have under ownership anything from ancient Egypt. The date of that artifact would be the age that it is claimed to be if the date were 1 C. E. So, it would be more likely from 4,000 BCE. I'm sure all of this can be easily cleared up by carbon dating. Odd how cartographers in the 1500's had the exact locations of many of these once owned by the robber barons with a symbol like castle and the word mosquito. That does not mean the insect. It's as to say small mosque not like that of those built in Emirate of Granada, Cordoba which took hundreds to a thousand years to build not two as claimed by the robber barons in this great state of Florida.

Beautiful inside. Staff was a little rude. Some interesting artifacts, including some pieces from Egypt which was a fun surprise

This unusual building has gone through many lifetimes. It has been a home, a Gilded Age Zorayda Club, a casino and speakeasy during Prohibition and now a museum. The museum features pieces from the original builder and the present owner’s family.
The audio tour which is included with your admission was very helpful in describing what you were seeing as you toured. You can take photos except in the Egyptian room which features the cat rug. Our visit probably lasted one hour.
Parking is available near the building and you can pay for the day and tour the area.

This residence is styled on the Alhambra, but is very scaled down. It was at times a private club or casino. It is quite intimate and I like how a lot of it is preserved. Do not miss the 3000 yr old Egyptian cat rug! Worth a visit
