The weather was beautiful during our mid-February trip. We walked a portion of the beach near St. John's pier the prior day, and decided to go to the state park the next day. It was so nice early in the day that we came back later in the day. It is large and not at all crowded. We just walked the beach and the sand was easy to walk on. The facilities were well kept and the beach was clean.
We also walked the Spanish Quarry trail. That was disappointing. It is a short, easy trail, but it really doesn't lead to anything but an overgrowth depression that used to be the quarry. We should have skipped that and spent more time at the beach.

Great beach and nice places to picnic, you can rent bikes or boards and walk trails. Small snack bar for a quick bite!

It is a lovely beach. There is the usual assortment of things to do on the beach. The rental shop there has chairs, cannabis, surfboards, and bodyboards among other things. In the park inside the park itself also has an area to rent, kayaks, and paddleboard’s. And there are a handful of short, hiking trails or walks.

Beautiful park with walking trails and boardwalks to beach. It wasn’t crowded when we were there. Perfect for shelling. We saw they also rented kayaks. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous beach and park!
Campground is very nice as well - sites are flat and very spacious.
Beach is great - lovely pic nic area which is shaded which is welcome break from the sun.
Good parking but not shaded so cars are hot when you are done for the day.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Highliy recommend - great beach for kids with lots of space to run around and play!

Enjoyed walking on the beach, birds, dolphins! Liked that there was a shelter, food, water sport equipment rental available.

Perfect place for a vacation. We were there for 5 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. Beautiful campground with large wooded sites. The place was very quiet, fellow campers and staff all very friendly. We biked, walked our dog and hung out by the fire. So much to do locally - we went hiking (armadillos!) , walking about in St Augustine to eat and see some history and played frisbee golf.
Really one of the nicest campgrounds I’ve stated at.

Beautiful park and beach. We did the ancient dunes trail. A lovely "forest bathing" experience. Also strolled on the beach which is exquisite, white powder puff sand and stunning views.

The best camping! Beautiful park. Semi private campsite. A small strip of native greenery separated the sites. Clean camp bath house and beautiful beach. It was nice to hear waves crashing all night long.
When they say watch out for coons they mean it! They are super Sneaky! Fantastic experience with rangers. Easy to come and go at night to get full experience of the area. It looks like it would be an easy bike into the town area. Also, our kid appreciated the playground.

Tiny State Park, but beautifully laid out to give you the visual illusion of a much larger state park. Many of the sites are large with exception of those on the curves of each loop, they are best for a tent or van camper. Restrooms were super clean but no heat. We were there in December and it was 26° several nights so going to the bathhouse was a challenge. The beach side was breathtaking. The rangers at check in were very friendly. Never saw the hosts but they kept the restrooms spotless

We are OTR truckers in a 38 ft straight truck with a fully contained sleeper. Are there campsites that can accomodate us?, ie no low-hanging trees, etc...

I would definitely check with Google Earth to determine if you can fit and call the park directly.

Are there lots of paved areas for biking, or is it mostly trails for biking? Will be camping there soon and my husband wants to bring his road bike and get in a few 10-20 mile rides ... are there safe areas to do that near by? Thank you!!

The state park has paved roads that would be fine for cycling. If you want to go further afield the main roads on St Augustine Beach (where the park is located) do have bike lanes but I’m not sure about dedicated bike trails where you are separate from other vehicular traffic

I am sure you can drive a golf cart on the established roads in the park but not off on the trails.
Hi!
I plan to be camping there with my family in may.
We plan on visiting the city and possibly staying out a little late for a ghost tour.
I was wondering if we would be able to enter the park after sundown, when it closes, to access our campsite?

Yes you will be able to enter the camp after sun down as long as you check in before 5pm. The camp closes at 5pm but when you check in you are given the gate code so that you can come and go as you please at any time.
