We had an amazing time kayaking and spending time at the springs with Ronnie! Everything was provided for and thought through. He was wonderful and helped us with everything. He also took a lot of pictures and went above and beyond what was necessary.

We had a great experience with this outfitter. This was a first time visit for us and they took care of us very well. We had to paddle up to Cypress Springs, about an hour Against The Current, but it was not too bad. The spring was really beautiful but very packed on a summer weekend.

I was reccomend Old Cypress Canoe Rentals from a friend when another company stood them up. The staff were friendly, professional, attentive and accommodating. The trip down the river/creek was beautiful and peaceful. I don't recall experiencing any bugs during the trip until we got to the woods leading back to our car. (Mosquitos). I highly recommend this company and will be using them again I the future.

This was a highlight of my visit to Panama City beach area. I visit my daughter, son in-law and grand daughter here several times a year and we like to visit rivers to tube, Canoe and kayak. We have visited several other outfitters and I found these guys to be hands down the best. The river is calm and non-threatening, with lots of shade and old forest growth. (Unfortunately the first river we visited this week had lost a lot of trees due to hurricane). But this still had a canopy of green.
The guy who helped us at the site was super friendly and provided tons of information so we felt confident about our trip.
I am older (58) and not in good shape, but easily managed the kayak from drop off to the take out place... which has a swimming area, barge, picnic tables and campfire place. Next time we will bring picnic items, firewood for the take out place.
We will definitely come back.

We visit PCB every year in October. We decided we wanted to do something different this trip and booked a canoe trip with Old Cypress. I have never been canoeing before so I was nervous but the trip was pretty easygoing. I think we will go with kayaks next time just because they looked more comfortable. The water was cold but beautiful and we were able to see lots of turtles, birds, and a deer on the creek banks. The price was very reasonable and I liked that you rowed back down to your car and didn’t have to wait for someone to come pick you up at the end. The guys who dropped us off were good at giving us directions down the creek. We will definitely be doing this from now on during our yearly trips.

so, due to rain water was up,current was quick.WE was way 2 skiddish in our canoe(3of us) about 5 mins out we hit a fallen tree, the current is literally sucking us under it, we didnt have our life jackets on, the canoe got completely submerged except a tad portion was barely visible, so while holding onto tree with one hand trying not to get sucked down, we was trying to hold onto canoe cause it was also being sucked under the tree, my son luckily grabbed our bag which had our keys in it, how i dunno,lol..... we lost a paddle. so as we 3 are trying to keep ourselves up plus keep the canoe from getting sucked under, thankfully 2 kayakers came to our rescue and helped us get onto the bank with the canoe and helped us get back on our way. and thankfully we was able to grab the lifejackets so we cld put them on....shew lol..... so with 1 paddle we head back out and right b4 the turn to take to cypress spring our other paddle was stuck at another fallen tree and another set of kayakers graciously got it for us cause with the current and our nervous wreck butts,we couldnt canoe over to it. we also was such a wreck and unable to be steady we went straight thru didnt even go to the spring and docked ourselves at the 1st spot we could find which was culpepper landing.We called old cypress and the gladly came and got us.We just could not go any further.... So with all that said let that be lesson to anyone who is inexperienced in canoeing, unless you have superb relaxation and balance it might not be for you, especially with 3 people.Spend the extra money and do kayaks for everyone. I regret not doing so, but next year we will definately go back and kayak it.... The people at old cypress was awesome, so friendly and we was so grateful they had no issues with coming and picking us up. Id definately recommend this place ...The only thing id suggest,( even tho its not really their place, we shld have done a lil research on canoeing) is for anyone looking to rent the canoes to explain to them how frigidy they are and just how much balance is needed, especially those with lil ones.... We look forward to coming back next year and hopefully we will make it to the spring next time,lol..... Thank You guys for being so awesome

Friendly outfitter, well equipped and knowledgeable. My first time on Holms Creek and to Cypress Springs. Took me 3hrs from start to finish and I paddled SLOW. No better way to spend a day in peace and tranquility.

Friendly business and service. We booked our canoes a few days before. It is off the beaten path to find the business, but plenty of parking and they load you up and unload at creek. When your done it was a nice quiet float back to spot to get out. We pulled canoes up and got our stuff and went straight to our car and could leave.

We rented two kayaks and everything went splendid since the time we called they were very nice and helpful, the next day Chief was waiting for us and he had everything ready. The spring was beautiful and was not crowded, the river was awesome and easy to paddle. on our way back one of the locals (Jerry) helped us find the place to return the canoes. We surely recommend Old Cypress Canoe Rental at Holmes Creek.

We wanted to kayak Holmes Creek/Cypress Springs the day after Thanksgiving. Thanks to Dana and Chief for getting us taken care of even though the business is closed this time of year! Chief took us up to Cotton Landing and put the two kayaks in the water and helped us get in and off on our adventure. Minimal effort paddling to get up to Cypress Springs. The water in the springs and creek is crystal clear. Old Cypress has big and small kayaks. I'm short so used a child kayak and it was very comfortable. My husband is tall and was also comfortable in the kayak Chief picked for him. The cost was also very reasonable! We both enjoyed the over 2 hour kayak trip!

Do you have life jackets to fit all people children and adults

We do have life vests for children and infants, as well as a few large and extra large vests for adults.

Are there different lengths (miles) trips for kayaking?

The main trip is just under 3 miles. We shuttle you from our property to a boat launch located just above Cypress Springs. This trip ends at the back of our property so no second shuttle is needed. If you would like a longer paddle, there is an additional $15 per boat shuttle fee.

We are about 45 minutes north of Panama City Beach.
Where are the camp sites? How much for overnight trip? Are dogs allowed at camp sites?

Overnight rentals are $60 (plus tax) per canoe. This includes one shuttle and a 2 day canoe rental. There are a number of primitive camp sites along Holmes Creek that can be used. Just Google Holmes Creek Designated Paddling Trail for information on camp sites. I do have room to camp at the back of my property, as well. We are pet friendly and overnight rentals are available by reservation only.

Where is the closest place to get a motel room or a VRBO rental for a Friday & Saturday night so that we could go to Holmes Creek and Cypress Springs on a Saturday?

The closest place to get a room for the night would be Chipley or Bonifey. We are about 20 south of both towns. Panama City Beach is only 45 minutes south of our location.
