WE have hiked to many water falls, but these was more than expected. Really Beautiful and not a bad hike at all. Just be sure to take plenty for photos to remember your visit.

The trail along the falls is paved and not too steep. There are benches along the way and spots to step aside to take photos. The staff in the gift shop were helpful and very knowledgable about the area.

This waterfall is only 6 miles from Helen. A great daytime adventure while visiting Helen.
It is a 1/2 mile hike, on a PAVED trail but is a slightly, UP-HILL, climb.
It could be difficult for those with mobility/health issues in my opinion.
There are a few benches along the way to take breaks if needed.
The path is along a beautiful, flowing stream and at the end is this beautiful waterfall.

The falls were much larger than anticipated. Also the paved trail to it was surrounded by nature (beautiful).

Although mostly uphill, it is definitely worth the trip up to the waterfalls. It's absolutely beautiful! It's $5 per person and then a $5 parking fee for the state park day pass.

Beautiful falls at the end of the trail. One section of the trail is pretty steep going up and coming down. There were people turning around at the end of the steep part but it did level out after that.

just a short drive from the town of Helen, we were surprised by how quickly we arrived there. Enjoyed the relatively easy hike up to the falls and were blown away by how beautiful it was - a must see !!!

Gets four because the top deck was closed to visitors.
Beautiful spot, great excuse to take a walk along a paved path in the woods.
Very friendly staff at the visitor's center! Everything you want a National Park stop to be!

Morning. How was the paved road walking in wintertime ? we're seniors old , can walk maybe half block without going wow
used to be able to walk uphills now it's struggle but heard it's a quick walk and can take our time enjoying the views will take
our minds off the walk...some say it's uphill all the way....some say it's very cold in winter time...we're in south florida driving
up there mid december to see mountains and hope no snow or ice. Was it cold? so winter jacket and jeans and t shirt ok?
how was paved road? icy? tennis shoes ok? socks ...think it will be well worth to see Ruby falls. I would love to see
photos....does the falls ever ice up? thanks Kathleen

Hello Kathleen, Its a really easy walk but would defiantly recommend warm coats and boots. It might get a little slippery but there are hand rails or a walking stick would be a good idea. And I agree checking out Helen GA is a must. Didn't go at Christmas time but I think its beautiful ANYTIME !!! Enjoy, Carrie

Just to clarify, this trail really is paved, right? I would like to take my two babies with me to the falls, and they would require a stroller.

Hey! I was there about a month ago and here’s my advice. Yes, the trail really is paved. But personally, I wouldn’t recommend a stroller. It gets quite steep. I don’t know what the elevation change is, but it was a lot more significant than I had thought, from what I had read. I don’t think we saw anybody attempting it with a stroller.
I had read probably the same things you have, it’s a short, paved trail, very easy hike. Well…if you were a regular hiker, sure, it’s easy. But if you are not, and you think, hey, a nice simple trail the whole family can do! No, I really wouldn’t describe it that way.

suppose so. I have seen folks with dogs in the parking lot. Not sure if they are allowed to go up the trail to the falls.

You should ask the State DNR or check their website. I wouldn’t bring them myself to walk the path up to the falls. It is a bit narrow and sometimes crowded.
But definitely take them over to Unicoi!
I absolutely love the falls and hope you have a wonderful visit!

It took us about a half hour to walk up a slight incline to the falls. There are pretty areas to stop along the way.
