The area is lucky to have two great zoos so close together. If I had to pick one over the other, I would pick Brookfield.

Parking was easy and plentiful. Even though it was a beautiful Saturday, we had plenty of room to view the animals. However, the playground was crowded. One unfortunate aspect was that the only way to get from one area to another was through the gift shop. The toddler with us was not happy.

After going to this Zoo for over 60 years, unfortunately this facility has completely changed for the worse. Millennials who are working the front gate and entry have no customer service skills whatsoever.
After driving for an hour and a half in bumper to bumper traffic we finally get to the Zoo. As a regular subscriber to the zoo, my wife and I showed our family season pass and she was refused entry. When we asked to see a manager, another millennial confirmed that my wife would have to purchase a full priced Ticket for $30. The zoo was only open for another hour, and there was no way I was paying for something that I had already purchased with my family pass. We were forced to leave my son and crying grandchildren who could not understand why we had not been allowed to enter.
So we turned around, walked half a mile back to our car, and drove for 1 1/2 hours back to our home.
This is totally unacceptable behavior on the part of the Brookfield Zoo. No apology, no remorse, and no empathy.
After years as a member, and having donated thousands of dollars to this Zoo, we will not be renewing our membership and will never set foot in this Zoo again.
Do yourself a favor, and visit the Milwaukee County Zoo or the Lincoln Park Zoo which are much better zoos and where they care about their patrons.

We went to Brookfield to have our grandkids enjoy the many animals we expected to be there, but MANY were no where to be found. Very disappointing,and a lot of walking to see nothing. Milwaukee Zoo is much more attractive and a good time there vs Brookfield.
Sadly the potential is there at Brookfield, but a big letdown.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Brookfield zoo, it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped through the gates. I knew I was in for a memorable experience.

Not mach to see ,.animals don't move , a lot of non sence walking ,servise , staff not smart , telling us the bus comming 12.30 pm we came 5 minutes before the tour bus in a zoo was living 12. 25 , the next will be in 2 .hours, they change for tickets to mach money , but nothing to pay for.

Holy yelling, pushing, screaming school groups. We came on a week day hoping to avoid some crowds, were we ever mistaken. The place was PACKED with out of control school groups. They honestly ruined the first half of our day. Once they left in the afternoon it was great.

The joys of Christmas were alive and well during the Holiday Magic. We attended in the daylight and went back again on different evening to take in the full effect! Overheard families speak of tradition of coming to the Zoo for this, couples of all ages and the music adds to the wonderment.

No matter the time of year, you can have great encounters with the animals. Really liked the penguin house. Always love seeing giraffes.

We were looking for a place to meet our daughter and her boyfriend who were in town for a wedding, and Brookfield Zoo got the decision because Chicago has become so dangerous that we aren't comfortable going there anymore.
Regardless, we went to the Zoo.
It had been a long time since we had been to the Zoo. We toured a number of different exhibits - I think our favorites were in the Bird Building. The bears were hanging around, we barely saw one of the wolves prowling around, and did see the seals and sea life, who were mugging for looks as we watched them play in the enclosure.
Food wise, the best way to describe it was controlled chaos. For lunch, we found one of their burger bars that was open. The food was served hot, the fries were okay, and it was hard to find a clean table. We did find one eventually. If you have two adults, let one go table hunting while the other waits for the food.
$3 a bottle for bottled water was a bit high.
Parking is $15, and entrance is $25 per person, so this isn't a cheap thing to do. If you want to feed the giraffes, that costs extra as well, but is a gas to watch so even if you don't buy the food and feed them, watch others do it. The giraffes have very talented tongues!
We spent several hours there and saw most of what was available. A lot of young kids were enjoying their time there.

Do you have electric scooters to rent at the Zoo?

I'm not sure...contacting the Brookfield Zoo directly will be best to get accurate information regarding scooters. There is a fabulous tram ride for your entire group that goes throughout the zoo if you're looking to cut down on the walking, but unfortunately it's not running during the pandemic.

They do a spectacular job with Christmas lights and decorations. Due to Covid restrictions you need to visit their site for the latest on indoor animal exhibits.

Please try again. I just checked online and everything was working. Parking is still $15 for cars, but admission is free on Tuesdays and Thursday in October and November.

I have guest passes from a membership that have expired on July 31, 2020. Has the zoo extended the date due to COVID?

Dear Andrea,
I contacted the Zoo on your behalf. Here is their response:
"To redeem the one-time use guest passes, this would be a separate transaction. If you scroll down on the member reservation page, you will see “Reserve Admission Tickets For Member Guests Here”. You can then select the day and time to use them. If they are driving with you, you would leave the parking section blank. If driving separately, a parking fee would apply.
The guest passes were extended an additional 4 months, corresponding with the length of our temporary closure. These will be valid to 11/30/2020."
If you have any other questions, you can call the office (708.688.8341) daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a membership rep will help you.

No more elephants in zoos. Zoos are getting away from keeping elephants because they have strong matriarchal bonds and form matriarchal family groups for life. To buy an elephant for display in a zoo, circus, wildlife park is literally tearing a mammal away from its family. They should have A LOT of living space too. And then there are elephant sanctuaries, like in Thailand, for elephants no longer employed as laborers.
I lost my license what else can I provide to show at the front gate to get into the zoo that it’s me on my membership card?
