Storied blues club that we felt we needed to see after all our blues experiences in the delta. The club has a $15 cover and music starts at 7:30. We went on a Thursday night and it was fairly full by 11:00. There are two stages, so music is pretty much constant. Overall, the vibe is easy with lots of people from out of town. The music is a wide selection of blues so you’ll get a bit of everything (not just Chicago style). Recommended for heavy fans of the blues, but more for the history than anything else. If you decide to grab a souvenir, know that the person behind the counter may not be the most helpful or cheerful you’ve ever experienced.

We had a great experience at Kingston Mines. There was a $20 cover, which we paid at the door when we arrived. They have two adjacent rooms, each with a stage, and the live music alternated between one room and the other. We saw Carl Weathersby, Studebaker John, and Joanna Connor. All amazing musicians! The club filled up really quickly and was packed. Our server was so busy, but she took such great care of us. There's food available as well. Some people in our group ordered wings and pretzels; both were good. We saw a quote that said “If you’re not having fun, you’re not at Kingston Mines”. I think there's gotta' be some truth to that!

Locale molto bello ed ampio con due sale concerto. Si paga un biglietto d’ingresso di 23 dollari, solo per entrare ed ascoltare musica, che conviene acquistare anticipatamente, perché il locale è sempre molto pieno . Il cibo è di qualità appena sufficiente e ci si deve servire da soli: non effettuano servizio al tavolo . Ma se si vuole ascoltare un buon blues si deve passare sicuramente in questo locale .

This place was a surprise space to visit. All in our party expected a "dungy" club, but we were surprised at the interior, the excellent musical acts we heard, the food, and the service. A complete 180-degree turn from our expectations and well worth returning! Loved the choice of artist - bravo to Joanne Connor and her band!

Great Blues bar , very good performances , one begins at 2100 the second 2230 . Very big place with foil bar . Food available self service. The place is very crowded and tables very small .Admission 20 USDLRS. Very recommended

Is there room for dancing? Kinda. Very small areas around both stage areas. We just found an area between chairs and ‘made it work.’
One thing that surprised us - we felt safe inside. Credit to the “no bs” bouncers keeping a tight eye on everyone - thank you - it means a lot.

Lugar para ouvir boa música. Público muito simpático, que interage com os estrangeiros. O serviço é bem despretensioso. Não se estresse porque as apresentações valem a pena. Quem vai precisa saber se três coisas: 1) melhor comprar os ingressos antes pela internet; 2) é bom chegar cedo para garantir um lugar; 3) as bebidas são trazidas na mesa, mas as comidas não. Assim, para quem pretende comer alguma coisa, é melhor pedir logo (o pedido é feito diretamente na cozinha e o cliente tem de esperar para trazer para a mesa). O pagamento das comidas também é feito na cozinha. A conta das bebidas é parada.

Excelente blues un vivo. Nos encantó la dinámica del cambio de escenario. Cuando nosotros fuimos tuvimos la suerte de ver a Vino Louden y Nora Jean Brusso. Terminamos todos bailando. Muy buena onda los animadores del lugar.

Yes, we do take reservations but can only hold seats for a certain amount of time after opening. You may call the club at 773-477-4646 or the Event Planner at 773-544-5442.

We got our tickets on Groupon, they still have the deal running for half price tickets. Just search for Kingston Mines in Chicago to see the deal. So we had tickets in advance and got in no trouble. I don't think otherwise it's necessary to buy advance tickets, you can just get them at the door. I am pretty sure you can't get in though, even with parents, if under 21. But I'd call the place and ask them personally.

My partner and I will be coming straight from a cubs day game in July and this seems like such a cool place to see out our first full night in Chicago. Im Scottish so any daytime weather above 20 degrees requires shorts 😓. Is there a dress code? Will I be shunned for the shorts?

Is it allowed for under 21 years old? I wanna go tomorrow with my family, but my daughter is 18.
My understanding is that the liquor age in Illinois is 21 so I don't believe that they would allow anyone in under that age. But find their phone number and call to double check.
Should we still buy tickets in advance even if we wont be at the venue until 10pm or so?

Hi, I haven't bought tickets in advance for all the times that I have been there, so I don't think it is necessary. It is always pretty full, so you may not immediately find somewhere to sit, however as there are two stages, everybody moves from one to the other, so seating becomes available.

I will be traveling to Chicago this weekend and I'd like to check out Kingston Mines with my wife and two daughters. My daughters are 18 and 14. Are students 18 and under allowed into the club to listen to the music?

We are a restaurant so your daughters may accompany their parents into to our establishment. We strongly recommend that you come Sunday through Thursday rather than on a Friday or Saturday.
A few ground rules: Your daughters may not consume alcohol in our establishment. Your daughters may not sit or stand at either of the bars for any reason. We expect that your daughters will order something from the kitchen, even if it's something small. All four of you must bring valid photo IDs - We need to be able to confirm that your daughters are in fact with their parents.
