When planning our Frank Lloyd Wright tour of Chicago, we were amazed to discover that we could actually stay in one of the houses he designed. So even though it was very expensive (for just two of us) we booked it for a couple of nights and feel extremely privileged to have stayed there, and enjoyed the space in the house and grounds. It has been very well restored, and everything was very comfortable. Staying there really informed our experience of looking around his other properties.
The house was beautifully clean and well-presented and the beds were comfortable.
The only aspect that was disappointing was the kitchen equipment - there were large, catering size pots and pans, but not ones geared to cooking for just two (or even four) people. A minor quibble.
We understand that rentals will cease at the end of this year, so we feel even more fortunate to have had the chance to stay there.

The Emil Bach House in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood was designed by noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1915 for an admirer of Wright's work, Emil Bach, the co-owner of the Bach Brick Company. Located at 7415 North Sheridan Road, it is representative of Wright's late Prairie style and is an expression of his creativity from a period just before his work shifted stylistic focus. The house was declared a Chicago Landmark in 1977 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 2003, it was put up for sale with a price of $2.5 million. In 2009, Jennifer Pritzker paid $1.7 million to acquire the house. Following an extensive restoration, it was opened to the public in 2014 and currently is available for rental and a vacation getaway. The Bach House has an interesting history, as all Wright houses do. It is one of the homes that Wright designed after his late 1910 return from Europe that is still extant in Chicago. It is part of a series of geometric, cubic houses with overhanging, flat roofs designed by Wright in the early 20th century. The 2,700-square-foot house was designed as a two-story single family residence with a basement. When it was built, it was a "country home" with a clear view of Lake Michigan from its rear facade. Today, the house stands among commercial properties and apartment buildings on a busy city street in the bustling Rogers Park neighborhood. In contrast to Wright's expansive, Prairie style, the Bach house is strongly centered and self-contained. A flat roof with cantilevered projections shelters the residence and shades the small balconies off each of the bedrooms. The main entrance to the house is on the back of the house, away from busy Sheridan Road, and obscured from public view. An open porch spans the back of the house and creates a dramatic horizontal projection toward Lake Michigan, only a block away.

Booked the property for a weekend visit to Chicago with my son who is an architecture fan and fan of FLW in particular. Everything about the weekend exceeded expectations. Cleanliness, communication/check-in and, most of all, the house itself. Living history. Highly recommend.

The house is very livable and my husband and I had a very relaxing stay celebrating our 25th anniversary. We parked our car in the garage upon arrival and did’t get in it until departure. We very much enjoyed just being in the house, the tea house and the comfortable yard seating. We also enjoyed walking the neighborhoods, especially the walk north along Lake Michigan up to the outskirts of Evanston. The house is only two blocks from the Lake. We also enjoyed Charmers Cafe and Anto Pizza both of which were just a few blocks walk from the house. The hospitality provided by Peggy and Carmen was exceptional and they made it easy to plan our visit.

This FLW house is not to be missed. A fantastic house just steps from Lake Michigan is awesome. The tour is spectacular and the docent is amazing and knowledgeable. About 9 miles north of downtown. Do not miss this house. Especially if you are an FLW fan .

Stayed here for my 50th birthday weekend. What an amazing time, getting to live in a Frank Lloyd Wright home for a long weekend! The home is incredible. The renovations/upgrades so tastefully done. They maintain the majesty of the vision of the original while making it comfortable and current. They thought of every detail, and the home was fully stocked with anything you need. The staff was so easy to work with and super-accommodating. The house was truly magical...even better than I could have dreamed. Thanks for making my birthday weekend so special!

One of my favorite Frank Lloyd wright houses in Chicago! had a chance to walk around the outside and admire the incredible details. Some of the best stained glass window designs.

The Emil Bach House is a warm and intimate Frank Lloyd Wright designed home. Being able to stay there and experience the house at all times of day is special. This was our second visit there and we stayed for three days. It is worth mentioning that the staff have taken precautions to completely sanitize the house between visitors and check in is contactless. We recommend it highly as a one-of-a-kind experience.

オークパークの駅から幾つかのロイド建築物やヘミングウェイの生家を歩いて廻れる。駅前のビジターセンターで地図をもらって模範的な順路を教えてもらえば、よい半日散策になります。

We rented the house while attending graduation at Loyola University. This place is magnificent. The kitchen is fully equipped and the guest rooms are lovely. We had a cocktail party after graduation before we went for dinner. The staff is attentive and goes above and beyond to be accommodating. If your travels take you to this part of Chicago, consider staying at the Emil Bach House. There are three guest rooms and lots of space. It might cost a little more, but worth every penny.
