It is definitely an old theater but they are finally starting to make upgrades to it. They are redoing the bathrooms so there will be more of them and updating them. This should help keep the long lines from forming.
The theater management does a great job of arranging a variety of music, performances, and movies to perform at the theater.

As someone who lives within about a half hour drive, this is a beautiful theater in the area. It is going to be going through a big renovation/update. They have some great entertainment!

Historic theater. Very Unique! First time being there. People working there are very friendly and helpful. Seating is from 1929 so a bit cramped but not horrible. Lighting for the stage was a bit too much and sometimes flashed in your face but again, not horrible. Looking around before the show started and saw all the Egyptian artwork on the walls and ceiling. Beautiful! Overall a Very Good experience.

It's not perfect, but they are sure trying! We picked up tickets at the Egyptian Theater to see It's Not You, It's Me from The Second City. The show itself was the usual insane-pace Second City antics, with a 6 member cast who were thoroughly engaged in the presentation.
Let's get to the venue. From the simple (the decorations) to the sublime (the egyptian themed EXIT signs), this place simply rocks. Once we got seated, I had the opportunity to look around at all the eye-candy - you have to look low (walls), medium (the ceiling details) and high (the ceiling has lights that sparkle like the stars in the sky).
The audio system and lights were solid, and worked flawlessly during the performance. The bathrooms were small (a quip from the MC - who in 1929 (when the Egyptian Theater was build) ever thought 3 stalls in a women's room would be enough) and are being supplemented this summer with a $4.7 M upgrade, which will include air conditioning for the facility. It has never had AC since 1929, and they shut down in the summer due to the heat.
The staff was friendly, and they have a strict no outside food or drink policy - they check you at the door - don't even try it. I bought a bottle of water at the intermission for $3 - you can't get a bottle of water at a ball park for that price, so you can afford stuff here and not break the bank.
Historic theater. Good shows. Doing a good job keeping it looking good. How can you go wrong?

We had dinner at the Hillside Restaurant and right next door was this theater. People were going in to see A Tribute to Billy Joel, but the manager let us come in for a peek and have us the tour. 90 year old restored theater- able to recreate what once was. Excellent job- it was beautiful. The lobby has the original concession stand, and there are enclosed glass shelving displays with pictures of past Gorman Ed and old candy boxes etc. Really appreciated the opportunity to see this place. Wish we had the time to stay for the concert.

We came to see The High Kings in concert. Love the venue! Great sound. Lighting was a bit overdone but not to the point where it took away from the show. Older seating so it was a little hard to get in and out of. No air conditioning but we were there on a nice cool evening and when they opened the outside doors at intermission it felt great. Concessions were affordable. The lobby and artwork inside is wonderful. Parking is available all around and is free.

The Theatre works hard to support a wide array of programming -- something for everybody. They are supportive of local arts and entertainment, and the venue is a beautiful backdrop for productions. Great staff, as well.

This theatre does not have air-conditioning. Went to a show on a 90 degree day and just about passed out.

Saw Gaelic Storm concert here. Just the right size for an intimate, sing along concert. Lines at bar were a little long but overall good experience. Street parking was easy to find. Great time!

Took in the Garlic Storm concert and had a blast! Reasonable prices on the drinks and very accommodating staff.
