We stopped here on our drive from Novo Mesto to Zuzemberk. Having seen hay racks all over the farm fields of Slovenia on our 2 week tour, we were curious to note the differences here.
Most had descriptions that included location, year built and the constructor, details to suit a scholar of these buildings.

Sehr schöne Wirtschaftsgebäude die einmalig in dieser Form nur hier vorkommen. Ich finde sehr sehenswert und ist nur 15 Minuten von der Autobahn Ausfahrt Trebnje entfernt. Eine kleine Auszeit lohnt sich und das Essen am Ort ist eh Phantastisch.

I never would have expected to find a museum of hay barns quite so interesting. It was fascinating! The gift shop had some lovely Slovenian crafts for sale also.

Das Museum der Heuharfen war sehr interessant und liegt in einer sehr schönen Gegend in Slowenien. Es finden dort immer wieder interessante Veranstaltungen statt.

A huge field near the village was transformed to a skansen – open museum of wooden constructions and buildings to dry and to keep hay. Constructions can be simple, with roof, or they are huge constructions called toplar (double hayrack). They are known just in Slovenia and in some countries near the Slovenia. In Šentrupert ethnologists put together about 20 different hayracks of all forms and ages. Locals put an additional building as information office and souvenir shop near the entrance of the area. When it is closed you can walk around the area for free. There is also a small parking and a bar near the main entrance to this Dežela kozolcev. Worth a visit with a guide.
