The dive experience is superb! Esp for first-timers and non-swimmers like me. Staff was really cool, dive instructors were so hands-on, and the whole weekend getaway was worthwhile!! I almost drowned the first day but the second day, i managed to overcome panic when i figured i was alone going back to the shore.

Nogas Island is underrated! This small island is simply beautiful and peaceful. The water is so clear like those at Cebu and Palawan. To go there you can try going to the Sira-an Hot Springs, then ask where you can hire a boat to Nogas. The boat ride was Php600 when we went there and it's for 8 pax. You can tell the motorman what time you would like to go back to the main land so they can fetch you. Nogas has no electricity and water supply so bring your power bank and food supplies. Nogas has fine white sand and lots of coral rocks. As what I have said, the water is clean and clear and perfect for a family/friends getaway. Bring your snorkels or goggles.

I visited Nogas Island with local friends for a fresh tuna barbecue lunch which was awesome. I liked the island because we were essentially the only visitors at that time and it has some interesting features. I was most amazed by the large bats hanging out in the trees around the lighthouse which were amazing to see in flight when they went from tree to tree. I think these are a variety of large fruit bat which I understand is not uncommon in parts of the Philippines. There was also a large structure in one of the trees which appears to be a huge giant honey bee beehive.
Finally, I should mention that there is a sort of trail that can be taken from behind the lighthouse which follows about half the perimeter of the island.
I really enjoyed the opportunity to visit Nogas Island!

Nogas Islet is .7 miles (1.1 kilometers) off the southern tip of Panay Island. For an aggressive motorbike rider, it's two hours from Iloilo (50 miles, or 80 kilometers). On the day I visited, the water was calm and clear--good photography conditions. The coral was nice enough, but nothing special for the Philippines. The fish were the typical ones you see everywhere, not particularly large or abundant. It's a wonderful swim if you happen to be in the area; but since there are few other attractions close by, I'm rating it as a day-trip from Iloilo--and compensating for the time to and fro.

A perfect get away! Anini-y, Antique sout of Panay Island, there is a beautiful Island namely Nogas Island. From Iloilo City, go to Molo Terminal ride a bus or a van fare is p100-p150 and tell the driver to drop you off at Anini-y Hot Spring the jump off point to Nogas Island, there the staff will lead you to the bangkas that go to Nogas Island of p250 to p400 per pax, its only 15-20mins and voila! You are already in a paradise! Pay the entrance fee of p50 and cottage from p250 smallest to p500. Bring your food but there are chichiryas available and softdrinks in the island. It one of the best Islands Ive been in Western Visayas. There is an walkway where there are calachuchi trees and a lighthouse. Also dont forget to swim in Anini-y Hotspring.

NOT pristine white sand. Cats and garbage strewn around. All in all nothing there to say wow at. Open fires kicking up a stink with whatever they cook on them. Not worth it. Noisy people. Cut down branches and bushes to make fires to cook.

This trip to Nogas Island was actually instigated by yours truly. I was searching for a good snorkeling place since I have fallen in love with snorkeling after I saw the wonders of underwater clearly for the first time wearing my first ever prescription goggles some few weeks ago. Snorkel some 30 to 50 ft from shoreline to really see some fish. My daughter saw a tentacled snake over there. Anyway, Nogas Island is for you if you are planning on snorkeling and diving. You can also just have a swim there but the beach itself is quite rocky and not at all sandy. There are huts you can rent. There is one changing room/toilet made of nipa. As of our last visit last June 9, 2016, there was no door to the toilet but it was still ok since the place itself was pretty isolated far from where the huts were located. And there's no fresh water available to wash up after a swim. The island caretakers were very nice. They will welcome you the moment you get off from the boat. You can also purchase drinks there. 20 pesos for a 12 oz cold coke is a fair price considering the location. There are cats who'll steal your food if you leave them unattended without cover on the table. Exploring of the whole island is fun too. Look for the oldest tree there--the balete. View the lighthouse, and, if you're a bird watcher, there are birds, big ones which i am unfamiliar with, perching on trees inside the mini forest.
Here are some of the things you might need before going there:
1. beach/water shoes - no fun swimming with all the rocks and weeds underwater
2. Food - no food sold in the island.. Just secure and cover them coz cats abound the place.
3. Trash bag - there's actually a couple of garbage containers around the area but it still best to have a trash bag in your own hut
4. Water/drinks - it is still best to being your own provisions just to be sure
5. Sunblocks and other essentials
How to get to Nogas Island:
When arriving in Anini-y, head to Siraan Hot Spring Resort. It is where you pay for the environmental fee of 60php per person. Just go inside and inquire. It is also where you make boat arrangements to and from the island. 500php for round trip which you are going to pay after they fetch you from the island. Just take note of boat's name and arrange time with the boat operator on the time you want to be fetched from the island. There is also a little resto inside Siraan where you can eat before heading off to the island.

Nogas Island, a five-minute boat ride from the mainland of Anini-iy in Antique province, Panay Island.
Beautiful area for snorkeling with calm and clear waters. Visibility can reach 10 meters and one can see the corals as well as the sandy bottom from the surface.
It also has good dive sites - ideal for beginners.
The island has several cottages that visitors can use when on day trips.
What is needed:
Crowd control - there should be a limit on the number of persons on the island.
Garbage collection - visitors just leave their garbage scattered
Mooring - boats are allowed to throw anchor anywhere, with no regard for the corals that are crushed.

If you are in Anini-y, Antigue, don't miss going to Nogas Island. Very cheap going there. Once in the island, there are plenty of things you can do. Swim on clean water (cleanest in the southern Iloilo area. Walk along the beach. Explore the mangroves. Fish. visit the lighthouse.
The picnic huts are available for rent at 300 pesos, no official receipt (OR) though.

Going to hot springs soon and wondered how getting to Nogas by boat works. We might want to stay for hours swimming, eating , exploring etc. Would boat go away and collect us later in which case we'd be paying 500 pesos twice.
Also, some have said no accommodation on island and others have said can rent cottage.

i think by cottage they mean like native shack , similar to on beach at mararison island, somewhere to sit, leave your stuff while u swim etc bit of shade from sun... its not accommodation.as such.
