Visited this wonderful venue for a charity event organised for WHITELEYS RETREAT. The staff at the location were absolutely wonderful and attentive during the evening. They were led by Lauren and Alistair who together set the high standard of service which was greatly appreciated by all those attending. Food was superb for a Burns Supper. This is a great location to visit when in the area. Will definitely be back soon.

There is a charge to visit the museum (which is very good and has a shop and cafe) and Burn's Cottage, but there is plenty else to do and see which is free. Visit the romantic ruins of the Auld Kirk with the tomb of his father, walk down to Brig of Doon for views of the river, climb up the Burn's Monument for the views and drop out in the gardens in the sunshine.
Alloway Parish Church is C19th but is a pleasant small building with some lovely stained glass and well worth visiting too, although it post dates Burns.

Thank you for reviewing your visit to Robert burns Birthplace Museum, your entry ticket helps maintain all parts of the site which you visited and we look after.
As you enjoyed your visit with us may i suggest that you think about becoming a member of the National Trust for Scotland which would allow you to visit us and all other NTS properties free and as many times as you like and would help support us to maintain all these places that we love as much as you did during your visit

Thank you for visiting us at Robert Burns Birthplace Museum we are glad you enjoyed your visit, the layout of the site makes it possible for everyone to enjoy our spaces without feeling overcrowded and if one area is busy you can usually go elsewhere and return a little later when others have moved on to another part of the site

Another stop within a walking tour of Robbie Burns Museum and included in that admission. Does not take more than a few minutes to walk thru. Park at the museum and walk over through Poet's Path.

I spent a few hours here and enjoyed the experience. Visited the museum, shop, cafe (lovely quiche and pot of tea), walked around the gardens, churchyard, monument, bridge and cottage. All lovely. Children's playground looked wonderful. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Now owned by the National Trust there is a entrance fee which also includes entry to the museum. Although entrance to the museum gardens is free. The cottage is small with only three rooms and the cafe was closed.

The cottage where Robert Burns lived has been preserved and opened, preserving an important piece of Scottish history. The gardens are particularly lovely and are very well maintained. The roses are incredible!
You’ll be in and out of the cottage quickly, but we enjoyed the kitchen garden and many flowers. There are restroom facilities at the cottage and then again at the museum just down the way.
Particularly on a nice day this is a lovely visit.

A genuinely interactive site, with the museum at the heart - excellent exhibition and pleasant walks to view Burns cottage and on to the Brig a' Doon.

Hi apologies for not responding earlier in the day, Dogs are very welcome in the Museum and Monument gardens but must be on a lead at all times, please avoid the children's play area with your dog and please make sure you pick up after them.
Water bowls are available and the café staff will happily refill them if asked.
Unfortunately at this time we do not allow dogs into the Museum or Cottage.
If you can't find the Dog- Gate entrance to the gardens the team will be happy to give directions

Would a bouncy 5 year old have any fun here? Thanks

the museum itself might prove difficult for a bouncy 5 year old, but if you keep it short and just look at a few things it will be fine as there are interactive bits for children, the walk way between the museum and cottage is fun, as there are 'mice statues' to look for and its a chance for children to have a run-around, like wise at the cottage make it a short visit to keep interest up. It is laid out really well and I think you can make it fun for young ones, try and get a guide who will make all the difference ;-))
