‪Chocolate! What’s not to love????‬

‪Wasn’t sure about this when we pulled up to a building in an old industrial area but it turned out to be great fun!

The tour guide was funny and knowledgeable plus there were chocolate samples throughout the tour. This is a legit manufacturing facility so it has that old factory feel. Definitely not the “Disneyfied” experience of Hershey’s Chocolate World. Just realize that going in. That being said, it’s way more up close and personal similar to the Louisville Slugger tour. The dipping of the chocolate spoon at the end was a nice touch.

Also, all the chocolate is discounted (look for the special 70% in the back). Be prepared to stock up! Great experience!‬

‪Chocolate is Always Good‬

‪The staff was very polite and knowledgeable. We sampled some chocolate and then bought some. If you like chocolate you will enjoy this.‬

‪You get a golden ticket‬

‪The admission is $ 5 per adult only.
Therefore you’ll learn a lot about cocoa and the production of chocolate itself and especially their products.
I liked the production process and packing site most.

So if you are in this area: the guided tour starts on the hour.‬

‪When we arrived we got tickets and waited about 5 minutes and one of the owners took us around. Learned a lot about chocolate. We were given samples along the way. We had 4 kids with us and they loved it! Afterwards we were showed how to properly did a spoon into melted chocolate. Fun experience about an hour total.‬

‪Delicious and educational!‬

‪This was a wonderful (and delicious) stop in South Bend, IN. The Inside Scoop tour was interesting and our tour guide, Joanna, was informative and answered all our questions with a smile. We received a few samples right off the candy line! Yum! The museum is quite interesting too! All the employees had a smile on their face!

I liked the fact that they had “nearly perfect” candy for sale at a discount so I could buy many different types and flavors for my family.

Tours are on the top of the hour.‬

‪Nice side trip‬

‪Had some free time so we decided to stop here and take a tour. Our guide, Amber, was energetic and very animated…she really made it fun. The factory is old and I was surprised to see things being done by people instead of modern machinery. We were told a new factory is in the works so maybe that will change. The tour was informative and ended with a sweet treat. The store is well stocked and offers imperfect candies at half price. We enjoyed our stay.‬

‪Family trip…yummy treats‬

‪We were a family of 8 (70s, 40s, 30s, 11, 10, and 13 months). This was our first stop on Saturday morning and it was truly a treat! The tour showed the different parts of the factory and their production process. There was even a museum which had a lot of history and information. The spoon dipping activity was a surprise and delicious!!! Very friendly staff and sweet chocolate.‬

‪Not a good experience....‬

‪We had visitors from out of town at the beginning of June and I thought they might like to check out this local attraction. We got there in time for the 11:00 a.m. tour on Saturday only to discover that the tour had already started. One of the two ladies working asked the tour guide if we could join the tour even though it had already started. She was happy to accommodate us. We joined the tour already in progress. After the next tour started we joined it and stayed with them until we reached the point we originally started. I don't know why they were so short staffed but it's ridiculous to expect two people to run this whole operation on a Saturday. I also wouldn't recommend going on the tour on a Saturday as there is nothing happening in the factory or other areas of this location. My visitors didn't say they were disappointed but I could tell they were. I felt like it was a complete waste of time and money.‬

‪Interesting visit to see how they make their candy and the museum with the candy box collection is very interesting as well. i was just surprised about it mostly being done "by hand" almost no automation. i guess that is how delicate candies are made! :) ‬

‪Chocolate at any age!‬

‪Planning for our getaway weekend in South Bend was to include a visit to SBCF on a Saturday morning. (Oct. 2020). My intention was to only go on the short tour, however, the two ladies that were working that morning informed me they only have one tour now. While this news did not necessarily change my plans, I happily enjoyed a very interesting 30-40 minute tour. Our guide, Carmella, was so pleasant and very welcoming during our entire visit. It was well worth the excursion to learn and taste of the chocolate industry. Of course the chocolate made it even sweeter!
We are grandparents proving that it's never too late to learn something new!‬
