The Surf Dojo is a must for anyone visiting Venao and for those especially interested in starting to surf or improving their existing skills. The staff was really exceptional, couldn't say anything greater about how warm and welcoming everyone was. The surf instruction was fantastic.
I was a true beginner, they made the whole experience super easy, helped me make real progress over the week, and even more importantly had a great time doing it!
I got to spend some time working remotely there, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Also, be sure to try the Acaí bowl!
Overall it was wonderful experience.

These guys were amazing. They were very patient with a group of 5 kids. Safety was stressed by the instructors and all kids had a great time. This is a must visit if your kids want to take Skating lessons.

This guys are fantastic......Great option on the quiet side of the beach. Great waves and great for teaching kids and adults....Freddie and Anita are rock stars. They even had a skate park for the kids also...

Ours was a big group of 10+ with varying interest levels and skills in surfing. We did not have a reservation upfront and signed up once we were there. They were very patient and accommodating of our needs.
We all learned about the technique really well with Frederick who focused on the fundamental theory with safety in mind. We had an amazing time with new found respect for the water, the force. The youngest in our group was 8 years and got on the board and now wants to surf in San Francisco in the cold water -:) Frederick got extra coaches like Benji (who is a former young surf champion) and Benjamin who would help us get through the waves and catch a few surfs to try out the technique very patiently until we were comfortable ourselves. Few of us and the kids caught tiny waves on their own.
This was an intense workout. With the coaches dedication, you got to appreciate the effort and technique to get on the board. A special shout out to Benjamin who manned the cafe when he was not coaching us. He would work out with us and help us get the waves and get back to give us lunch with a healthy chia bowl or a coconut water drink. You can spend months in here with their hospitality and humility (some of them are world class surfers who are coaching you but they rarely talk about it). A lesson for an 1.5 hrs costs about 30 USD and it is well worth it. As someone who was so afraid of the swimming in the water, I cannot thank the Surf dojo team enough as they enabled me to enjoy the ocean on a beginner surf board.
Plan to be there for hours as you have 3+ restaurants nearby when you need a break. Cafe Dojo (Thanks Yessica for you service) with fresh ground coffee, juices, fresh coconut water, smoothies, sandwiches, chia bowls etc, La Barca a dive bar type restaurant, Eco venao cafe across the street and an ice cream place on site. Panga is the more fancy dinner restaurant on the same grounds. Thank you and what a memorable way to end the year.

Professeur exceptionnel avec un pédagogie parfaite aussi bien pour les enfants que pour les adultes. Toutes les activités développées par surf dojo sont de grandes qualités . L’equipe est passionnée et partage sans compter.

Surf Dojo is more than a school, its a place where you can have it all in one place. The waves in front is perfect for all the levels depending on the swell and the owner is a great guy who is so passionate about what he is doing !! Merci beaucoup Monsieur!!

We brought a group of our university students here for surf lessons while in Venao, and I was very impressed with the surf lessons - Frederic spent a lot of time explaining the proper positioning on the board and he and the other instructors led the girls through a series of exercises on land using different pieces of equipment to help them practice their movements and balance before getting out int the water. They say that they want to make sure that after you have had a lesson with Surf Dojo, you have the knowledge to go out and be able to surf safely on your own, and I think they do an excellent job of that. Our students all had a great time and are looking forward to getting out in the waves again! Even if you aren't going for a lesson, Surf Dojo is a great spot to hang out by the water - they have a lot of cute areas to sit in and delicious smoothies!

Frederic est de tt évidence, et de très loin, le meilleur professeur de surf que j ai eu l occasion de rencontrer.
Avant la mise à l eau il utilise beaucoup de matériel pédagogique pour fixer des objectifs précis à la séance, et sais y amener doucement ses élèves.
Mes 2 garçons ont vraiment progressés et ils repartent avec des notions solides.

I can't speak to the activities/lessons they offer, but I CAN speak to the cafe because we went several times during our stay at Playa Venao and I'm completely obsessed. I think this might be my favorite cafe I've ever been to. You have an absolutely perfect view of the beach/ocean in front of you, with lots of plants and a really cute beachy garden vibe, delicious smoothies and plenty of seating options, AND there's a slackline and trampoline set up. I could play on the slackline and trampoline, eat an amazing açaí bowl, and soak up the sun while enjoying the view - what more could I possibly want? The service and prices were great too. I cannot recommend this place enough - such a wonderful little spot.

I rented my board there for a 4 day stay. It is 15$ per day when you rent at least 3 days. The variety of boards is huge and for all levels. The advice where and when to surf Playa Venao is free and helpful. I also loved the batidas and snacks (such as açaí bowl) as well as the nice property with a fresh water showe, a slack line, Trampolin and sun beds in a well maintained “garden” directly at the ocean front.
