This place is worth a visit if you would like to learn more about the fauna around the Mississippi River and the Geology of the area. We discovered it by sheer luck while driving and decided to stop. Not too large to get annoyed as exhibits were really cool and interactive. Children friendly. The receptionist was really friendly and showed great interest! For some the animal pelts on exhibit may be seen as a downside!

We had a rainy day on our mini-vacation and decided to stop here with 3 kiddos, 5,6 and 7. The guides were wonderful and each child got to hold one of the turtles. We all enjoyed learning about the rattlesnakes as well. Definitely worth a stop, rainy day or not.

Anytime a visitor is in the area I insist they visit the Center. It is incredibly interesting and informative and the setting could not be more appropriate. Every member of the staff engages with guests and is eager to share their experiences. Hands down, the best museum of the Driftless Region

This was a lovely, clean and educational information center. It’s quite new and the exhibits were easy to view and user friendly. There was not a lot of “hands on” activity for little ones but if you have anyone old enough to read there is plenty to view. Bonus: The center also offers a large outdoor deck with a great view up river. Free entry, and only takes about an hour to enjoy everything so well worth the stop!

Each display was easy to understand in a few words. The boats were hung to view nicely. I wish I could have handled the animal pelts but with Covid, no. I was so glad to find the wooden post cards and ATV Club map with contact information.

This interpretive center is top notch. It’s a gorgeous building, free admittance, nice gift shop, and awesome exhibits about history, geology, nature, and culture.

My wife and I were looking for a day trip from Decorah so we headed over to Lansing and started at the DRIFTLESS AREA EDUCATION & VISITOR CENTER.
This was a Great start to our day!!
Displays were very nice and do take the time to read about them , too!
The Driftless area is a very unique part of the Midwest that more people should know about.
The decks overlooking the Mississippi are outstanding, also.

The Driftless is a mostly unknown term but this region is unique in the world. This is a fairly new center that really helps extol the features of the area. Great film, displays and overlook. Gift shop, deck, overlooks the Mississippi and the bridge. Free but please donate! Glad we stopped.

Didn't know what the Driftless Area represented so learned a lot. Great displays about the area, the life of honey bees, and a variety of birds. Center is on a hill overlooking both the railroad tracks and the Mississippi.

We spent a little under an hour exploring the center. It was quite educational and we learned a lot about the area. Bonus - it was free.
