The place is really very amazing, the architectural design is unbelievably in existence in the Philippines. I hope the sanctity of the monastery is maintained and not just become a tourist spot. Entrance open at exactly 8am.

A very Holy place has many steps to climb but well worth the climb, many people visit here that can hardly walk but this is by choice, a must see visit for religious believers or not.

Absolutely breathtaking monastery , and yes built by love, prayers & miracles.
A place to visit when in Cebu- its really worth it..a solemn place to reflect that will put your life back in perspective.

El monasterio es espectacular, muy bien conservado. Se puede subir a las torres para fotografiar las vistas. Hay una zona con velas donde sus habitantes y también los visitantes rezan por sus seres queridos. La parroquia también es muy bonita, pero pequeña en relación al resto del monasterio. Sus jardines muy buen cuidados. ¡Alerta si eres chica cuidado con llevar shorts/leggins o camiseta con escote, pues no dejarán entrar! Alquilan unas faldas por 15 php. Nos dio la impresión que con los locales hacían más la vista gorda y les dejaban pasar. Y a nosotras aún tapandonos con nuestra propia ropa no nos dejaron entrar sin alquilar la falda. Eso nos decepción un poco. No por la cantidad si no porque veías a chicas filipinas que no les habían obligado a alquilar la falda.

Palatial church out of context in Cebu.. interesting history and worth a visit. Fairly easy to get to, park and walk around. Don't expect St Peter's Rome inside.. however exemplifies Filipino faith in Catholicism...

Lebendig, das Kloster ist aktiv, es ist ein sehr schöner Ort. Es hat eine wunderschöne Architektur und wird gut gepflegt.

Looking from far you can see Architectural genuis indeed. A very solem place to pray. You need to dress modes as a advice.

The place is commonly called "Simala". It's a 2-hour drive from Cebu City proper via shuttle van passing by towns of Talisay and Naga, and going through Carcar where the famous Cebu Lechon and Chicharon are known for.
Once reaching the holy place, one cannot enter wearing short clothing. You can rent a large scarf to wrap around the legs or cover bare shoulders. So be in proper decent attire if you want to visit the place.
Go around the magnificent structure and pay homage to the Virgin Mary. Religious artefacts are being sold by the main church entrance, if you'd like to take home a souvenir. If you want to go inside, you need to remove your footware. They have shelves where you can put your shoes, sandals or slippers, and be barefoot walking on wooden floor as you tour the monastery. You'll find a long line of people wanting to have a glimpse the Virgin Mary and touch her. Pray, take pictures, but keep your silence. You will see different images of the Virgin Mary and the history of the place.

A place of worship and has a great architecture as well. However, people coming here should pay respect as this is not a resort. Appropriate dress code should always be observed.

This church really is something...someone has an amazing imagination! Having built the main building they have just kept adding on to the incredible structure. Very much worth the visit. It's a little off the beaten track but if you are in Cebu, it's a must see...the biggest church in the Philippines. Being very honest, as a non Catholic, I was less impressed with the interior of the buildings but I'm sure this more spiritually important for local and visiting Catholics.

You can wear shorts but they must cover your knees. Shoulders must be covered too. So t shirts ok.. but a no to vests.
